Longlea Nursing Home

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Longlea - they are exactly what you need them to be: kind, compassionate, attentive, patient and genuinely warm. I made the difficult decision to move my 93-year-old mum there permanently last summer after an extended hospital stay accelerated her dementia. Despite the awful circumstances, I'm confident she couldn't be in a better place, receiving the dementia-focused nursing she truly needs. This standard comes from the top: Madalina, the manager, and Andreea, her deputy, set a tone that is professional, caring, reassuring and proactive. The activities organised by Miracle (who truly is) are moments of joy, from peaceful boat rides in Henley to magical trips to Windsor to see the Christmas lights. The food is home-cooked by Chef and offers a healthy, varied selection that Mum enjoys fully, while all the team are engaged, helpful and committed. Longlea has given mum comfort, dignity and stability, and I'm deeply grateful.

During the latter part of last year it was decided that my wife should move into a nursing home. After a careful assessment of a number of local homes the family and I decided on Longlea and we have been highly satisfied with our decision. The staff at all levels are kind helpful and know how to care and look after their patients. The staffing levels are good both during the day, also at night and at weekends. The rooms and communal areas are always spotlessly clean and smell fresh. The food is adequate and patients every requirement are catered for. On our daily visits my wife is always clean and comfortable. Overall we feel that we made a good decision.

After the residents and family regular quarterly meeting in January 2026 it was mentioned by the group that an additional television would enable all residents using the lounge area to easily view if they wished and as I came in today I noticed the new tv - I was so pleased. The management and staff are continuously making improvements large and small and listen to the residents and family. The staff all work hard but always with smiling faces. They look after the residents well (and family). This is a small nursing home but it is has the comforts of being in your own home.

I will try and keep this to the point as I actually just want to go on and on.. My beautiful Mum and beloved wife of my late Dad was placed here 14th March for a few weeks restpite. My Dad really didnt want to admit he couldnt care for my Mum anymore and the fear of a "care home" was almost too much for him to bear. He neednt of worried as straight away as soon as Mum entered the home she was looked after and made to feel like it was her home. My Mum was unfortunately in late stages of Lewy Body Dementia but very physically capable at that time which had its challenges but the staff were amazing. My Dad was reassured straight away she was in the right place and enjoyed the visits he made several days a week as he loved the staff and managers and was always at ease. It was a home from home and as my beautiful Mum started to decline more and more her needs were always adapted. Longlea is amazing and will always hold a special place in my heart. My mother was admitted for palliative care recently, during her stay she was always treated with kindness and dignity. She was very complimentary at all times about the standard of nursing. Longlea has a homely feel and all the staff do their very best to make it feel that way. I would have no hesitation in recommending Longlea.

My 89 year old mother was admitted for Palliative care for her final 3 weeks after repeated spells in hospital. I found the staff to be welcoming, caring, respectful and well trained. Mum was treated with dignity at all times. She was in considerable pain and all of the staff were so gentle with her in difficult circumstances. Mum recognised she was being very well looked after ( being a former district nurse herself) and the staff did everything they could to make her as comfortable as possible. We were kept well informed of her medical care and what the next steps would be. They made a very difficult time more bearable and I felt supported at all times.

I would highly recommend this to anyone having to put a family member in to a care facility.

I have found the care at Longlea to be excellent. My husband has advanced dementia and nursing needs. The carers are all lovely, and he is treated with kindness. There is always a nurse on duty. They and all the staff are brilliant, and this gives me peace of mind. The home is small and has a caring, family feel. It is clean and well run.

Everything is good, no problems. Very satisfied in all areas.

I have been coming to Longlea Nursing Home for the last six months. I have experienced a great sense of respect from the staff and administration. They are doing a great job of taking care of the residents with dignity and respect. I also have had a choice of having meals with them. They are well prepared. The rooms are very clean. I must say it is my favourite care home. Wishing them God's blessings!

I find that the nursing home and staff are very good, friendly, and helpful.

My friend is a long-term resident of Longlea Care Home. She has been happy and well cared for at the home during this time. Following a short hospital stay recently, she has rebounded beautifully with the care and support of the staff. She is socialising well and taking more exercise in response to the encouragement of the staff.

Longley has undergone a number of personnel changes throughout 2023 which did, in my opinion, have an impact on the overall experience. However, I have noticed that the atmosphere, camaraderie and communication by the carers have visibly improved and there are more inclusive, fun activities planned with the residents in the lounge which is really encouraging. There seems to be more stability in terms of staffing and everyone seems far more settled and happy which is great to see.

She received empathetic, loving care. Her medical issues were resolved and she was very content during her stay here.

If I could describe Longlea in one word it would be: kind.

I now visit another resident since my mother passed away. It seems the home is turning a corner after the dramatic change of personnel as this resident doesn't voice any grumbles. Might finances stretch to providing some entertainment and stimulation for residents.
