Reviews

8.9 The Heights has a Review Score of 8.9 (8.916)

The Review Score of 8.9 (maximum of 10) for The Heights is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Heights in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.638 for The Heights is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.638

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.278 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Heights is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 18 positive Reviews (90 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 18 Target = 0.278

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My aunt was very well looked after at The Heights for the last 3 years, until she passed away.
The staff were so kind and considerate to her especially over the last few months of her life.
Every care was taken to make sure she was comfortable, she was very happy and well looked after and all the staff are so caring.
We couldn't have asked for more.

When I first went to view The Heights as a potential home for my Dad, I instantly noticed the relaxed atmosphere there.
The staff all seemed happy along with the residents I met.
I didn't think my Dad would make it out of the hospital as he was so poorly and wasn't eating but he had 7 great months at The Heights.
The staff were amazing and got him eating and walking again.
They not only looked after him but also me when I visited.
It felt like family.
He died so peacefully surrounded by caring staff in a lovely home.
I highly recommend the heights.

My mother has been a resident at The Heights for a number of years. She has advanced dementia.
Since she arrived I have found her care excellent. The staff are friendly and kind and Mum is always clean and tidy.

All the staff were kind and helpful any time of the day, they had time to talk to you if you had a problem. My husband was hard to nurse but they won him around and he was well looked after.

A beautiful building, fantastic activity team and I cannot fault Dad's core care team.
My advice to anyone considering placing a relative here is to be sure that the home can meet your relatives needs and never question anything as you might regret it. My Dad was asked to leave.

Alison Ritchie, Director of Quality and Governance at The Heights responded to this review on 27 Mar 2017:

Thank you for your feedback about the home and your kind comments about members of our team. We pride ourselves on providing the very best care for the people that we support, however, there are rare occasions when we find that the challenges presented by changing needs are beyond the abilities of a service to meet safely. In those situations, we ensure we work with all parties to find a suitable alternative.

Each week I visit my mother in the home and am greeted by smiling, helpful and friendly staff. The attention to the ambiance of the home is exceptional. Each festival is celebrated in an artistic way and where possible an activity is linked. Fresh flowers are regularly placed on tables in seating areas and look wonderful. The home is clean and tidy and the other residents appear happy and talkative, a testament to the quality care they receive.
