My mum was a resident for nearly four years at The Heights. Her care was always good, but exceptional during the pandemic and her eventual death. The entertainment team especially were exceptional, keeping everyone entertained and happy. I and my family will always be grateful to all the staff.

Our late mother had been at The Heights for over three years and she was treated so well. On her passing, our family were treated with outstanding respect. The love and kindness from all of the staff made our mum's passing so much easier. We were all with our mum all of the time, and we were able to treat The Heights like it was our own home. Thank you so much.

Our 100-year-old mum is receiving excellent care at The Heights. Her stubbornness with personal care and sleeping habits is met with sensitivity so she does not feel threatened or unhappy. We are grateful to her carers and the staff at The Heights who go beyond their duty of care.

Overall Experience

My mum has been at The Heights for just over 2 years now and we are much more than satisfied with the care she receives. The carers are extremely sensitive to her wishes (staying in her room) and her changing temperament, while still managing to encourage and motivate her to participate in activities, albeit infrequently. For her birthday in April, we had a magnificent lunch, specially prepared by the chef, which included all my mum’s favourites. My sister and I were able to share a beautiful time with our mum, together with two extremely entertaining members of staff! We even had a tipple of Baileys! Thank you for being so caring and creating such a superb environment for my mum.

My sister has been with the heights nursing home since November 21, arriving in a poor state after being hospitalised for 3 months and contracting covid. The staff have been monitoring Frances very closely and have made sure that all her needs are met. She is always clean and well presented and slowly gaining trust with the staff as she was very scared on arrival.

From the moment you phone the home, the staff are pleasant and helpful. When visiting, the staff are welcoming, the building is bright and clean with activities for the residents always going on. All staff are all willing to talk to visitors and will find other staff if needed for updates on the welfare of the resident. The dignity of the resident has always been important to the staff and is lovely to see by the visiting family i.e. nails clean and cut and/or varnished, hair cut and curled. Communication with family regarding health/hospital visits is good. Thank you.

My father came to The Heights from his home in the north of England for end of life care. Throughout, the staff were excellent and I have no reservations in recommending the Heights. My father was lovingly cared for during his final days and always made comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for every member of staff. This brought my family and I much peace in difficult days.

I am so happy we found this place for my Mum. The change in her has been incredible. She looks and is so well. Everyone loves her and shows her the love and care she is used to. They are really good to us as a family too. Nothing is too much trouble. We are all eternally grateful and thank god for them. It's so lovely to have restrictions lift a little in order to spend more and more time with our Mum. Thank you all.

Review from Lois D (Wife of Resident) published on 13 September 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I was really delighted when I knew there was a room for my husband for respite care as I had tried previously unsuccessfully. I had received very good reports of the nursing home and was very keen for my husband to be cared for at The Heights. I have not been disappointed! We were welcomed by the manager and two carers on arrival. Shortly afterwards, my husband was taken ill but I was so impressed at the way the manager and carers coped with the situation; they were superb. Having been isolated in his room for 5 days and become very distant and unresponsive, the difference in my husband since being with other residents is remarkable. On my last visit to see him, he was smiling and very responsive. He was immaculate, well-groomed, nails had been cut and he was a different person. All the staff and carers I have met have been kind and caring and I am so grateful to them for caring for my husband so well and making him feel at home, which is to become permanent.

My father has been in the care home since a few months before the first lockdown. The team at The Heights have been amazing and I can’t thank them enough. My father enjoys being in the home where he is extremely well looked after, this is clear to see as he is always happy when we visit. Special thanks to two members of staff, in particular.

Really caring and lovely place to care for elderly relatives. My father-in-law has been here for nearly two years and we haven’t had any complaints. His key worker and her team do a great job. They provide a cosy environment with lots of activities, an open approach to visitors, nice accommodation and good food. I would recommend it.

My mother has been a resident for five months. She is very happy in her new home, which is credit to the dedicated care of the whole team at The Heights. The home is beautifully maintained. The staff are very friendly and clearly take pride in their care home. Mum is kept occupied and monthly activity plans ensure everyone is having fun. Thank you to the whole team, I am relaxed knowing that mum is receiving the best care in an environment she loves.

Mum is very settled and happy at The Heights, she is looked after by caring and friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Mum is able to join in the many and varied activities which provide her with stimulation and enjoyment and the opportunity to mix with other residents. The home is comfortable, well furnished and spotlessly clean, has a lovely garden and everyone is very welcoming when I visit. I am kept informed regarding her health and well-being by nursing staff and I have easy access to the manager. The home is well run and organised by an excellent care and management team.

I began my career in Health and Social Care back in 2002 in my hometown of North Wales, working as a Care Assistant. It was there that I discovered my passion for supporting others. In 2007, I became a Registered Nurse, earning a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, and in 2015, I completed a master’s degree in management.

Over the years, I’ve worked in Nursing and Dementia care environments, and I genuinely love what I do. Caring for others is such a privilege - being a part of someone’s life is incredibly special and something I value deeply.
