Overall Experience

The Heights is like a second home to me, with the wonderful staff a second family since my husband became a resident 2 and a half years ago. He lives in his own silent world and is unable to walk, but he is treated with much kindness, respect, patience and understanding. I cannot thank everyone enough. The current managerial team are very approachable and have made considerable improvement to the running of the home. Relatives meetings are more frequent, with family members encouraged to attend so issues can be discussed and our voices heard. Increasing the number of carers in each house is often raised. The activity team continue to entertain the residents with their fun and games and more weekend activities have been introduced. We were recently treated to an amazing group of singers who sang well-known songs. My own family and I are so grateful to the heights for making us feel so welcome with their warmth and friendship. A huge thank you to everyone, you are all very much appreciated.

Overall Experience

This particular home feels more cosy and intimate than others. Particular positives are the activities, which occur every day and normally include residents from all the houses, and includes those that cannot partake but are included for stimulation. This is due to the activities manager's positive and interactive attitude. Other outstanding notes are the carers and their positive, happy attitude to residents, whether bedbound or not. Without these positives I may have chosen a different home, but am glad that this is where my wife resides and would give it 10/10 for these items alone.

Thank you for your positive review, N K. We are glad that you find The Heights cosy and notice the happy attitude of the carers and activities.

My Father, age 103 spent the last 6 months of his life in The Heights, House 5. The staff of House 5 were amazing, caring people, who showed respect and kindness to my Dad. He formed a great relationship with several of them/ The carers and nurses work so well together. The residents are encouraged to be out of bed and to join in with meals and the excellent entertainment downstairs.
This nursing home is excellent.

I would particularly like to mention two members of the care staff, two members of the nursing staff, and the entertainer and express sincere thanks to them and all the staff.

My husband was admitted to The Heights in January of this year he was immediately made welcome and felt at home. Myself and all the members of the family were treated with kindness and respect. He gradually deteriorated untiled he became bed-bound and nonverbal but was always kept clean and the staff went above and beyond when trying to feed him. It was easy for me to feel part of a second family and feel there are not enough words to express my thanks and gratitude for all they did.

My mother was a resident at The Heights for sixteen months. In that time, the care given was exemplary in every aspect. She was happy. Also, the care and support given to me and the information regularly given to me were gratefully received.

When you enter The Heights you come into a warm and friendly atmosphere. The reception staff there are always ready to help. The activities are well delivered. The basic care of the residents, to ensure they are clean and comfortable, is good. However, the staff have several duties other than doing their best for each person. As important as it is to keep detailed records up to date, a lot of time is spent writing these whilst on duty. Time that I feel could be spent exploring ways to communicate more with those in their care, wherever possible. The activities are well delivered.

Residents are genuinely cared for by carers and other support staff. They make time for everyone, even if it's a hello as they walk by. There is a real effort made by staff to draw out the strengths of residents and keep them happy and stimulated and involved with life within the home. Residents are treated with respect and concern for their wishes and needs. The ambience of the home is relaxed and peaceful and it's as homely as it's possible to be.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that my mum is part of the family at The Heights. Even though I live overseas, I know mum is in a safe, nurturing environment, surrounded by professional and caring staff. I see it as nothing short of a miracle that my mum will be having a cosy, heartwarming holiday season and beyond, even though I cannot be physically with her. Thank you all.

All the staff are angels. Helpful, cheerful, and time for everyone. This includes my mum and myself. Treating patience with respect and kindness. Thank you to all. And because my mum is bed-bound and unable to join in with others, today they put on her own party in her room. Very special.

We immediately felt at home when we arrived at the Heights and so did our mum. We were always greeted with a smile. Mum's face would light up when a carer came into her room. They had a lovely way of connecting with her. We were so appreciative of the care given to her in the last chapter of her life. Thank you.

Yesterday, the 25th September, was my grandmother's 105th birthday. I would like to thank all the staff at the Heights for their hard work in arranging a very memorable afternoon. Thank you too, to the residents, who also shared this special day. I am very grateful to the staff for arranging the entertainment which included a very memorable performance by the harp player. Seeing my grandmother and the residents enjoying such beautiful music was priceless. I couldn't think of a more fitting way to celebrate such an occasion.

Today you organised a lovely birthday party for my friend who was 105 years young. You made it very enjoyable for everyone. You included all the residents, family and friends and went above and beyond to make the day special. You organised a special guest who was a wonderful harp player. Everyone joined in with the music and you encouraged this also. There was music and encouragement from staff who helped bring the group together, singing familiar songs. It was topped off by a lovely cake and celebrations. Thank you.

I began my career in Health and Social Care back in 2002 in my hometown of North Wales, working as a Care Assistant. It was there that I discovered my passion for supporting others. In 2007, I became a Registered Nurse, earning a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, and in 2015, I completed a master’s degree in management.

Over the years, I’ve worked in Nursing and Dementia care environments, and I genuinely love what I do. Caring for others is such a privilege - being a part of someone’s life is incredibly special and something I value deeply.
