Milton Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

My mother has been in Milton Court since July 2019. She has been very well looked after and indeed, I also have benefited from good advice. Sadly the Alzheimer's is taking its toll and she is now in the Balmoral Unit where she is receiving excellent care. The staff (one member in particular who keeps in touch with me) are excellent. Thank you.

Very new resident came in for respite and decided to stay. The staff are very kind and helpful and make you feel welcome. The facilities are superb. Makes you feel like it's home from home. Thank you for the peace of mind.

On visiting my mother today, I heard shouting to find her on the toilet in a mess. Finally found a staff member to help my mum. Mum was distressed, goodness knows how long she had been waiting. Asked staff member why no one was answering alarms, her reply, we are short-staffed! This is happening far too often! These elderly people are being left at risk!

Yesterday my sister visited to find no staff and Mum shouting for help, as she has soiled herself. This is all totally unacceptable.

The care my father receives is excellent. The management and admin team are always friendly and welcoming. staff have gone above and beyond in the care for my father and is always on hand to offer support. Thank you to all the staff who always greet me with a smile.

This gave me great comfort in knowing she was happy. The staff are incredible, kind and supportive. They become part of your family and always welcome you with a smile. Excellent in keeping you in touch about your loved one of any changes. I found this very reassuring. I can not thank everybody enough for the kindness they have shown to me and my dear mum.

Milton Court is a really lovely home. My Mum hasn’t been here long, however, the staff are all amazing. Covid has been really hard on everybody, especially the staff, who have to look after our loved ones every day all day, they have to try to keep morale up, amongst staff and residents which must be really difficult. Keep doing what you are doing!

Staff are welcoming and caring but extremely busy. We have noticed staff shortages and workforce changes in a short period of time.

My mother has been a resident at Milton Court since May 2019. The home and rooms are clean and well looked after. The staff take great care of my mother, are genuinely interested in her welfare and, especially over the covid crisis, have stepped up to comfort her when visiting has been suspended. The attention they have given to keeping the residents safe is excellent. I would also like to thank the staff for the care and understanding they have shown me when times have been difficult. My mother is not always the easiest person to deal with, but that has not stopped them from being thoughtful and understanding. They go the extra mile. Thank you.

200 words cannot describe how great Milton Court have been in regards to my dad. My dad has Parkinson's and he moved in, in January 2020 in a very bad state healthwise: anxious, not eating, struggling to take his medication and not able to cope independently. The care home have been amazing at managing Dad's needs (especially through a pandemic) and have gotten to know his quirks and character well. Dad feels safe and knows that there is someone always on call to help him, which is very important for us all. The staff are always friendly, kind, helpful and the communications from the care home in general has been very good both from a Covid perspective, but also in terms of Dad's care. The reception staff are great and the care home has a good relationship with Dad's Parkinson's nurse and managing/maintaining his medication schedule. We're really happy that Dad is at such good home and it's put our minds so much at ease, which I didn't think was possible a few years ago.

Whilst my mother was only in Milton Court for a short period of time, between her release from hospital and sadly passing away, the care given by the Milton Court team was exemplary, both to my mother and myself. Given the challenges brought by the Covid restrictions, the team managed to make her comfortable and enabled us to visit her as and when required in her last days. Despite the very short duration of her stay, I cannot fault the care given and highly recommend the team and the care home.

Met the customer services rep and visited Milton Court several times before Mum became a permanent resident. We were shown around the premises and looked at all the services provided by the home.

The customer services rep has been outstanding with her attention to detail and her level of care exceeds all expectations. She always has a lovely smile, ready to listen and offers support and guidance when needed.

My mum became a resident in April 2020 and she has settled in very well. Her health has improved and she has put on weight. She has made friends and regularly takes part in activities provided by the home.

It's lovely to be secure in the knowledge that my mum is now safe and receiving the high level of care and attention she needs.

Government restrictions on visiting care home residents have recently been eased so my sister and I can now make personal visits to my mother who has been at the home for 2 years now. I simply can not praise the carers, the activities staff and the administration/management staff enough for their exemplary dedication through such challenging times. Yesterday was a difficult day as my mother, who has dementia, was not understanding that visits are conditional on testing. It would have been easy for the staff to shrug and say 'sorry but the visit can not go ahead'; yet they persisted far beyond expectations and I was able to see my mother in person for the first time in over 6 months. Thank you Milton Court for understanding the needs of relatives as well as the needs of the residents, you are the best!

My mother has been a resident at Milton Court since October 2017. She is privately funding her care and suffers from dementia. During this time, she has received very good care from attentive and dedicated staff. From conversations I have had with staff members, their work is clearly a vocation and something they care about. However, sadly I cannot say that the home represents value for money. Since moving in, my mother's fees have increased by 37% in just over three years and frankly are now verging on unsustainable. I have exchanged correspondence with the owners to try to understand the reasons behind this and have not received what I consider a sufficiently detailed explanation of the fee increase. I realize that care is expensive and am under no illusions about this but I cannot reconcile in my own mind fees of £5,300 a month, however good the care provision, particularly when the group accounts show remuneration for the 4 Directors totalling £2.7m during the two years to 31/3/19.

My father who suffered from dementia had been a resident at Milton COurt Car Home since May 2017. Sadly he passed away on 27th July 2020. During his time at Milton Court, he was treated with the utmost respect and the care he received was second to none. The staff really are wonderful and go out of their way to make the residents feel valued and well cared for. I would highly recommend this care home.

As a family, we were well satisfied with excellent support, and nursing care that my wife received, especially at the end of her life. She died in March of this year, and her death was not related to the Covid-19 virus. I cannot comment upon the activities provided as my wife’s condition rendered her unable to derive any benefit from them.

Our mother has been welcomed with open arms since we needed to find her permanent care. She was reluctant to relinquish her home of over 50 years but, after a lengthy period in hospital and rehabilitation care she decided that needs must. She has fitted in extremely well, taking part in the endless activities and enjoying them immensely. All the staff are caring, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, further health issues have restricted Mum, but she has been looked after with great care throughout. Currently, not being able to visit is hard on her and us, but video calls that the staff help her with mean we can see her, this is very comforting. We know that she is being looked after how we would like her to be and cannot wait to get in and see her, and the wonderful team again as soon as possible.

My 89-year-old mum moved into the care home in December 2019, following months of constant hospital visits with mild strokes and TIA's and living at home, even with private care, became unviable. Since being in Milton Court, she hasn't had a single visit to A&E and that for me speaks volumes. She has a lovely big room, she enjoys the many activities, and doesn't even grumble about the food that much. The staff are great. We both think they do an amazing job anyway and never more so than in this terrible pandemic. To all the staff who are working so hard, going into the frontline with smiles on their faces, keeping up the morale of the residents and keeping Covid-19 at bay when it has ravaged so many nursing homes across the nation - I can't say thank you enough. I know Mum feels very grateful to be at Milton Court. It is home now. I know she's happy and that is everything.
