Nestled within the quiet surroundings of Chelmsford, Admirals Reach care home offers personalised residential, nursing and nursing dementia care to older people.

The professional care team is on hand to help you or your loved one settle into life at the home. By getting to know each individual resident at Admirals Reach, they take pride in creating an engaging lifestyle which offers something for every resident to get involved with. Inside, Admirals Reach's modern yet homely interior includes well-furnished lounges and spacious rooms as well as a conservatory. Arranged in five separate houses, four of these provide dementia care and one provides residential care.

The home also offers a range of lovely dining areas where residents can relax and enjoy an intimate dining experience with family and friends, and in addition to the dining rooms, residents can also enjoy mealtimes in the peaceful courtyard garden on sunny days.

We found my cousin In Jellico House together with a carer she was very happy and contented. It was her 92nd birthday.
She looks very well cared for and healthy.

All the staff are helpful and cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are very approachable and ready to listen and address any problems. It is lovely to know mum is so well cared for and safe.

My dad came in for respite after being in hospital for seven weeks to help get stronger ready to go home. Unfortunately, he had a chest infection which took two lots of antibiotics to get over so this has slowed his recovery. But he is stronger now and going home on Saturday.
He has had a good relationship
with staff but he is looking forward to being at home again with his wife. The nurse has made a particular affect on dad which he said has helped him quite a lot.

As a family, we would like to express our thanks to all the wonderful staff at Admirals Reach for caring for mum in the lat few months, particularly during her last few days.
Mum appreciated all that was done for her and enjoyed the company and good humour of carers and staff.


We also, as a family,

got to know a number of carers and staff who looked after mum. We would particularly want to to thank the staff for their professionalism and compassion

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law has little appetite for the food offered and has a very weak voice since her stroke and is reluctant to ask for help/alternative food. Sometimes she feels the night staff are reluctant to help when she buzzes during the night (she feels they have little time for her)
Bearing in mind she is self-funding and the fees increased £100 a week this year to £950 she feels perhaps she is entitled to ask for help in the night (i.e. to change her or to say why someone else is shouting) Perhaps re-education of night staff would help.

I am happy to be in Nelson House because the care is good, staff treat me with dignity and respect at all times. I always have food of my choice. The environment in my room is clean. My clothes are washed when dirty. I feel good to be with the other residents compares to my house on my own. My relatives
are allowed to come and see me any time of the day.

My mother is a vulnerable client requiring total nursing care. All elements of care are achieved. Mum's dignity and safety are cared for by professional/friendly staff. I am able to openly discuss any aspect of mums care and I feel my concerns would be acted upon. The food is good. Laundry very efficient/diligent.
Activities cover all aspects of clients differing needs. Management open and visible. I am very happy for mum to stay here and a friendly place for me to visit.

It seems a friendly place and my mum has settled in well. She likes sitting in the lounge during the day and watching television in her room in the evening. She enjoys the activities especially the Queen's birthday party. She is happy to be included in some of the outings such as lunch out. Residents
clothes are kept clean. The food is good. Sometimes she feels it's a long time till they get her up in the morning as she needs the toilet. During the day sometimes needs to go to the toilet but as her voice is very quiet cannot always get staff attention. She would like to see lounge/conservatory carpet hoovered more and also her bathroom.

I like the food here, meals are very good. I enjoy all food, has lots of variety. I like my room very much. I'm treated with dignity and respect at all times. Staff are always busy doing something or other they look after others too and are kind to them. I like the activities here, like bingo, quiz
games and group discussions.

Lal is a Registered Nurse with over twenty years’ experience. He is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life to older people, to enrich their lives. Lal is dedicated to providing quality care and support for elderly people, to enrich their lives.


Lal closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. He uses his experience to motivate his team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home. Lal is committed to promoting individual choice for Residents, allowing them to feel empowered.


He also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Admirals Reach.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Lal remarked:


“Seeing Residents smiling and knowing that as a team we are making a difference to their lives.”


In his spare time, Lal enjoys playing badminton, travelling to exciting destinations and spending quality time with his family.
