My dad was moved from hospital to Brentwood Care Centre for end of life care. He arrived on Wednesday and died on Friday. In that short time, he was treated with respect and dignity. It allowed us to spend time with Dad, without the pressure of visiting times and gave us the privacy we needed in order for us to say goodbye. When he passed we were given time after and it was very peaceful, which is all I wanted for my dad.

Reply from Amanda DeLaBruyere, General Manager at Brentwood Care Centre

Thank you so much for your review at this very sad time. I am so pleased that you felt that you and your family were treated with respect and dignity and that we were able to deliver and meet your expectations.

My stepmother needed respite care when my sister, who lives close to her and visits daily, was going away. We need to know that she was in a safe environment and that someone was around should she fall. Brentwood Care Centre welcomed her and she settled in quickly. She told us that the food was good and that all the staff were lovely. As she suffers from cognitive vascular dementia, she lives in the moment or happily talks about the past, and she seemed happy in her environment there. She did not, as we thought she would, stay in her room during activities (which she's never been keen on joining in when she was an adult), but enjoyed watching the other residents engaging, and was ready to assist them with anything, like getting something, or helping with feeding them at mealtimes. She has always helped others and this gave her a sense of purpose.

Once home, for a while she seemed far more her old self.

Mum came to Brentwood Care Centre in end of life care and stayed in the nursing floor Balmoral. For the short time she was there all our family were more than happy with the care she received, as well as support for us.

Based on our experience I am happy recommending Brentwood Care Centre.

I wanted to record a thank you to all the care staff at Brentwood Care Centre, for the care they gave to my Mum.

She was with you for just a short time but it was obvious that the staff made her as comfortable as possible and that they cared for her welfare. They were also very kind and supportive to us.

Hi, I recently visited your care home to visit a friend and was extremely surprised at how lovely and clean their room was kept, and how happy they were in their room. I also would like to applaud the chef on duty for his care and attention to the lovely food he produced for dinner, who was very attentive and seem to know just what residents wanted. What a delight he was, also the staff were very very friendly to the residents compared to the care home I visited in Leigh On Sea, Essex where a relative of mine was staying. I would definitely recommend your care home. Keep up the good work.

All the staff are lovely and treat you with respect. They seem to like my jokes. I am washed in bed as I am unable to stand at the moment. Had a shower last week, they had to help me which was painful. I am hoping they sort out physio whilst I'm in here. One thing I really am not happy about is my long turquoise dress went missing and it had gone down to the laundry. Compensation?

Reply from Sharon Osborne, Manager at Brentwood Care Centre

Thank you for your lovely review. Sorry to hear about your dress being misplaced. If we are unable to find your dress of course we will compensate you. A request for Physio input has been sent through to your GP as unfortunately we do not have an on site physio.

After visiting my wife at The Brentwood Care Home I felt I needed to contact your company on behalf of my wife on how well she has been looked after and attended to. The staff are always very friendly and anything we ask for is never too much trouble.
I would recommend this care home to anybody who requires this type of care.

Many thanks.

On arrival, I've been taken care of extremely kindly. On the odd occasion there has been a misunderstanding of my needs but overall, I have found that I'm treated with respect and dignity.
My only complaint would be lack of staff so when I use my buzzer I have to wait a long time.
Staff are very helpful, kind and respectful.

I can truly say that I would recommend anyone to come here. I feel safe and secure here. My friends and family are always welcome.

We find the management and staff both helpful and attentive. They will quickly deal with any issues raised by us.
Weekday visits are good from our point of view, but weekends can be a little stressful as staff numbers are usually at a premium.

Regarding value for money, we feel that menu choices are adequate but rarely enticing, unlike other acre homes of a similar cost, previously used by us for respite care.

My mother is not easy to please! However, she seems to have settled in ok. My only comment is that there always seems to be plates of uneaten white bread (toast/sandwiches) and old, dirty cups/mugs in her room. Brown bread and glasses of water daily would be appreciated. The room is kept clean by staff whenever possible (I realise this can only be done when we take her out for the day, so thank you).

My mother has moved around various units in this care centre due to unforeseen circumstances including refurbishment work. The unit she is now in, Kensington, is the best unit for my mother, with continuity of staff who all know her personally and her needs, from carers, cleaners, laundry and activity staff. She is very settled and has made many friends and the management are very good at keeping me informed of any issues. I can recommend this care centre and particularly the unit where my mother is safe and well looked after.

Brentwood Care Centre nursed my grandmother through the final months of her life in the most wonderful way. They cared for her as closely as her family would have done, treating her with kindness and love for the entire 5 months she was there. We had had a very bad experience with a care home elsewhere which the hospital had transferred her too, which saw her deteriorate hugely. But the minute we moved her to Brentwood she was a different person. Although bed bound and not eating they kept on trying and made sure she was hydrated. They dealt with the doctors in a timely manner making sure visits occurred when they should and I believe kept her alive and at a good standard of living for longer than she would have been anywhere else. I cannot thank the staff enough for also helping my mum get through this difficult time and at the end being so kind and compassionate. I would highly recommend this home.
