When my mother moved to Brentwood Care Centre over three years ago it was rated as Good and I was very happy with the care she received. Unfortunately, over three years and a succession of five managers, the home deteriorated so much that I decided to move Mum a few months ago. Some of the carers are excellent but there is little dementia training and the few good carers who were trained left as did an excellent dementia lead. It was so sad to see the standards of the home deteriorate and cuts being made, no doubt to generate yet more money - in cleanliness, hygiene and food especially. Mum was in her room a lot of the time. Having moved her to another home I can see a visible difference in her - I don’t think I realised how much Brentwood had deteriorated until now after a few months I can see how happy she is in her new environment.

We are pleased to hear that your Mum is doing well in the last 5 months since moving to her new home. Brentwood Care Centre has been very busy with the new leadership team in place, it is a shame you didn't meet them but we understand management changes can be unsettling. There have been so many exciting changes; the whole home team have completed certificates in Dementia Care, the home has refurbished communal parts of the Dementia environment with further plans in place and is working with the Head of Dementia Care and Development to make further positive changes alongside the implementation of the Dementia Strategy. The investment in Brentwood Care Centre is evident not just from the commitment of the management team and the amazing staff team within the home, but also from the local county awards, the national care awards nominations and the CQC report published after only 5 months of the new manager being in post. Stay safe and well.
My dad has been receiving end of life care for the past month. Moving him from our home was an extremely tough decision to make but the management team were incredibly supportive during the transition and have continued supporting me emotionally since. They kindly took a flexible approach with...
It is obvious to me that dad is being very well cared for medically and in all aspects. He is kept clean, comfortable and stimulated as much as is possible for him. All the staff I have met are cheerful, courteous, kind, friendly, clearly experienced, very professional and genuinely caring. I have been truly humbled at witnessing such heartwarming genuine care from the staff towards dad.
His Parkinson's and dementia have caused him to develop serious swallowing difficulties, but he is provided with a varied appetising menu of pureed food and thickened drinks which he is fed with patience and encouragement.
Dad is very content in his large en-suite room with french windows overlooking the garden. It is bright, fresh and tastefully decorated and very clean.
This is a very well managed home that I would recommend without hesitation.
You are an amazing family, and we are honoured to be able to care for you and your Dad. Thank you for such a lovely review.
During a very difficult time, I have been able to get regular visits at set times. Very personal. I am very grateful for the care the staff have provided and now the added bonus of Facebook posts to keep me in the loop of activities that are happening.

Thank you, hopefully, you will enjoy visiting in our new Day Lodge now too. We know contact with your Mum is so important and are working hard to ensure these physical visits continue.

Thank you for your lovely review and commendation. It is lovely that we are able to continue to share the life of your Nan during these difficult times and we truly appreciate your feedback.
I had to remove my mother from this care home after three and a half years of deteriorating care, cleanliness, hygiene, and compassion, plus, a succession of five managers. I would not recommend this care provider to anyone, especially those suffering from dementia.

My family and I chose this care home for its proximity to us. Since dad entered the care home in December 2019, we have found it generally acceptable in all aspects. The activities programme is encouraged by the staff to get residents involved and to meet one another. We found that at weekends...
During the lockdown, we feel that at times we have not been kept up to date with aspects like well being, requirements for the need for more toiletries/clothing, e.g. or anything of a medical nature, although staff have contacted me and informed me of certain situations.
The services of hairdressing, chiropodist, and contacts with opticians and dentist are all very useful for the availability to treat residents as and when required.

Thank you so much for the kind review and the maximum scores you gave us in all areas. Our role is to not only promote 'person centred care' for each resident, but to extend the hand of friendship and support to the families too. I will pass this review on to all of our team, who will be delighted.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send such a positive, and very kind review about Brentwood Care Centre, especially at such a time, as you and your family are trying to come to terms with the sad loss of your beautiful mum.
The home is bright and clean, and the staff treat the residents with care and respect. My father enjoyed the food, and we were happy that he was in a safe and secure environment.
