After nearly two years of trying to get my mother down to Essex from London, Gifford House was always our first choice. The care and facilities at Gifford House were excellent. My mothers' room was spacious and clean with an excellent outward view. I have no hesitation to recommend Gifford House with
their staff to anyone who needs a good nursing home.

Our mother was in Gifford House for five months as at that time needed nursing care. Management and the staff have all been amazing, they were all friendly. Mum always looked well kept and had also gained in weight. They were always chatty to Mum and were happy. The home was very clean and tidy. Mum
gained her independence and has now gone into residential care. Amazing home.

Your mum was a happy, lovely lady who made us all smile daily.
We were honoured that you entrusted us with the care of your mum and it was our privilege to have had her at Gifford House.
We are pleased that your mum has done so well that she no longer needed nursing care however we will miss her. Please keep in touch and you are always welcome to bring Mum for a cake and cappuccino.
I know she is settled in her new home and I wish her all the happiness, she is a special lady and has a lovely family.
We will share your positive comments with our staff. They will appreciate them and use them as motivation.

Dad received excellent nursing care from the minute he entered Gifford House. He was treated with kindness and dignity. Some members of the nursing and care staff were outstanding and we felt reassured as a family that his needs would be met and he would be treated like he was a member of their own
family which was a comfort to us. They seemed short-staffed but still found time for all of us. Dad's care was covered by the NHS but learnt it would be expensive and don't feel it would have been value for money otherwise.

Although my dad only spent a short time at Gifford House under palliative care, from day one it was clear how dedicated and kind all the staff are. As a family at such a difficult time, this meant so much and we took great comfort and reassurance from the kindness and dignity shown to Dad and to us.
We thank every member of staff - you are amazing people.

My dad was a resident at Gifford House Care Home and the care he got was excellent from every carer who worked there. The carers have time for everyone in their care and for family who visit. Covid-19 is not the best but they always make sure care comes first for everyone, this is a big thank you from
my dad and his son. Thank you.

It was a pleasure to care for your father, he is a real gentleman and was always complimenting his carers.

We are pleased that we jointly managed to reduce his needs and enable him to relocate.

Should things change, he is more than welcome back including to our new Residential unit.

Gifford House nursing home is a very professional and well-managed residence for elderly people. It caters for all varieties of care in a well-structured way.
My Father who unfortunately passed away, this week, received the highest quality care. The staff are lovely, very kind and sympathetic, they
looked after my father as if he was their own family, and Dad treated them like they were his second family, during the lockdown when we couldn’t be there.
They are a very nice, friendly and very caring team of people, who I personally will miss, and they have helped, supported, nursed and cared for my Dad, in such a way that I will always be forever grateful.
If you read this, with any worries about putting your relative or loved one into a permanent residence, then I would just like to add that my family and I would highly recommend Gifford House and it’s the wonderful staff.

My dad first came to this wonderful care home 3 years ago. What a truly amazing care home this was for not only my dad but our whole family. We all truly felt we were part of a big family. Every carer my dad had, worked so hard and all were so compassionate and attentive to not only my dad's needs but
if we ever had any worries or concerns, always dealt with them immediately.
The ladies in charge of activities never once missed a celebration, a birthday, Christmas, always putting every effort into every event. The last memory of my dad's room filled with St Patrick day banners and drawings. My dad being a proud Irishman in his time, who suffered with dementia looking with such joy in his eyes at all the colours. A memory as his daughter I will never forget.
This care home is a beautiful building, recently refurbed and so clean. As a family, we would highly recommend this home.
Sadly my dad has passed now but we will be forever grateful to all the team in this home.

My mum is fairly new to Gifford House and so we have been unable to get her a telephone line connection yet because the engineer cancelled due to the government lockdown. So the only contact we have with her is via a wonderful chat app group that provides families with lovely pictures of our loved ones.
However, today staff went that extra mile and arranged a video call with my mum it was a wonderful thing to do and really appreciated by us as a family particularly as today would have been my dad's birthday. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Gifford House.

When I knew my Mum needed nursing care after being very ill in hospital, I looked around several places for her but as soon as I walked through the doors of Gifford House I was certain this would be the one for her. For the last six months of her life, until she died peacefully on March 30th, she has
been very happy and extremely well cared for. All of the staff treated her with the utmost respect and dignity at all times, they are patient and very kind and there is nothing that they would not do for her. Family and all visitors are made very welcome and are cared for in every way, the lounge is a lovely place to sit and meet other people and the staff are helpful to you at all times. So thank you to all at Gifford House as not only did you make my Mums last few months of life very happy, it also gave me peace of mind that she was well taken care of at all times.

It was an absolute pleasure to have known and cared for your Mum. She was a real character.

Staff remember how much she enjoyed having numerous helpings of tomato soup and they are also missing nightly snacks of chocolate rolls and crisps with her.

Your Mum had a strong personality and knew what she wanted. She will be dearly missed by all at Gifford House.

I cannot recommend Gifford House care home enough. My mum was cared for from February 2015 to when she sadly passed away in December 2019. From the moment I came through the door, I knew it was the right place for mum and in the end, it proved to be the best move we could have made. The care home facilities
are excellent and continually improving but what makes it truly exceptional is their wonderful, supportive and caring staff. It may be a nursing home but what they have done is made it like a home from home for the residents and their families to continue to share their life and build memories together. They have great family get-togethers from BBQs to Halloween parties which mum and I have so enjoyed. Mum loved living here and I have loved visiting her and that's the highest recommendation I can give. I cannot thank all the wonderful staff enough for their kindness, humour and brilliant care. 5 stars, it's a great home with exceptional staff.

I first entered Gifford House Care Home 4 and a half years ago as I was looking for a suitable place for my mum to move into, as she was unable to live at home independently. I knew as soon as I walked into the reception area that it was going to be the place for mum. It was light and cheery and it
didn't have that smell about it.
To this day, I have not regretted my decision. Although mum found the change difficult at first, she soon adapted and made lots of friends. The staff became a second family for her and she thrived.
I cannot praise the staff enough. They were very supportive of mum and myself and I am very grateful for everything they did for her whilst she was there. Unfortunately, she passed recently with her care home family with her, as I couldn't get to the home in time.
I would definitely recommend Gifford House Care Home.

I attended a resident and family/carer firework party tonight with my Dad. Dad is poorly with Alzheimer's and Cancer. We both really enjoyed the evening food, drink and fireworks included. The staff are always friendly and although Dad has his bad and sad days we know he is happy and looked after. He
is normally asleep and in bed by 7pm. Tonight he was in the lounge chatting and listening to the families until 9pm.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 102 registered maximum number of service users is 20.4. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.4 = 0.735
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
