Gifford house is a luxury care home providing accommodation for frail older people along with specialist nursing, palliative and dementia care.

The home is able to care for one hundred and two clients in comfortable surroundings. Gifford House is situated on the outskirts of Basildon, set in extensive landscaped grounds.

Gifford House offers all the advantages of a purpose building with modern facilities. The bedrooms are attractively decorated and finished. All have en-suite facilities and in addition there are spacious supported bathrooms and shower rooms. They encourage residents to bring along any personal or favourite furnishings, ornaments or pictures and will assist in personalising rooms to individual taste.

The home has six lounges and four dining rooms. It also has a cinema room where residents can enjoy their favourite films, an activity room for residents and a private dining room for residents and families.

Gifford house is set up to ensure that everyone within it is viewed as an individual and is cared for in a way they prefer. The family orientated feel to the home gives a professional yet warm approach to care for any much-loved member of your family.

This care home was absolutely amazing. They looked after my nan so well, I know for a fact they made her so comfortable, and I honestly could not thank the care home enough. They did regular check-ups and overall, they were so supportive.

From the day mum arrived at Gifford House, until the time she sadly passed away, our experience was exceptional.
The care mum received was beyond our expectations and mum was made to feel as though she was part of their family.
Nothing was too much for any member of staff and they would always go
the 'extra mile' to make sure mum was comfortable and attended to her needs, including considering our request for mum to have a room with a garden view as mum spent many hours of enjoyment at home in her garden and we felt this was important to mum. Mum was always well presented and cared for.
I cannot praise Gifford House enough for their help and support at such a difficult time, not only for mum but for the whole family.
We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity of mum staying at Gifford House and wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anybody who finds themselves in the unfortunate position of their loved one needing care.
A huge 'thank-you' to Gifford House and your amazing team.

My father was a resident at Gifford House until his passing, he was admitted to Gifford House due to his previous home not being able to meet his needs after a short spell in hospital. My father had dementia and we were told constantly that he had become aggressive, although we never saw this. When
dad was taken to Gifford House the first thing he said was “it’s lovely here” and for him to say these words meant so much, as he had never commented on his previous home. The staff soon got to know dad and his dislikes and likes and always told him or asked his permission to carry out any task. He was always clean-shaven and nicely dressed, nothing was too much to ask. In his final hours, the support we had as a family was truly amazing. My only regret was that we had not found out about Gifford House when looking for a care home for him. He was only there for four months but he enjoyed those four months even as his health deteriorated.

My husband came to Gifford House for end of life nursing. The staff were marvellous, dedicated and passionate and caring. He felt at home there. The staff were very professional and always welcomed our family and visitors.
The home itself is spotless and kept to a high standard.
The rooms were good,
with nice outlooks. I would certainly recommend the home to friends and family and would be my first choice if I ever needed to go into care.
I am so pleased that my husband spent his last days here.

The standards are high. Clean and the staff are lovely.

I cannot recommend Gifford House enough, my dad arrived on 8th January 2019 and passed on 4th April 2019. In the time he was there the carers and nurses were brilliant, very professional and compassionate. I'm so glad my dad had his final months here, wouldn’t have wanted him anywhere else, they truly
are angels.
Would highly recommend anyone sending there loved ones here.

My Mum was a resident of Gifford House during the month of January. On arrival, she was greeted by management welcoming her to the home. She was treated with respect all the time during her stay. Staff were always respectful and helpful to both my Mum and me when I visited. I am a nurse at a hospital
in London was very impressed with the facilities the home provided and was pleased that she had been placed at Gifford. My Mum was at Gifford for palliative care so when the time came and she was passing away, I was supported by the staff so well and your staff are a credit to the home. I also found the team very supportive to my bother at the time and after my Mum passing everything was done with dignity.

Gifford House is an exceptional care home. It has been purpose-built and designed totally with the resident's needs in mind. The staff are dedicated and empathetic.
My mum is receiving end of life care and they are so mindful of the family's needs as well. I can’t believe that a home of such value
is available to my mum, who is of very limited financial resources. I hope the home and staff get recognition for their exemplary level of care and dedication.

Our experience of the care staff has been good but personally, I feel that they don't have enough staff on at the time to provide good care, meaning it's hard to find free staff to help change my dad or help sit him up, which impacts on his dignity. Food is also a slight issue - main meals 'ok-ish'
but desserts are never thought about or adequately provided. For us, value for money is poor. In respect of my dad, he is unable to use facilities or activities, so his care and support and being treated with dignity are our top priority and we just don't feel they have enough staff to provide my dad with the care he needs at this difficult time. I have spoken to the home about staff numbers (4 in the am/3 in the pm).

On recommendation, we viewed this home and felt it was up to the standard we had heard about. On admission, the home staff and residents made me feel welcome. The room allocated to me was very comfortable and neatly decorated. This met all my wishes. I feel adjusted and settled well into the home. Staff
are excellent in the care they give. Also very helpful. My only concern is that I feel there is a shortage of staff during the 12 hour night shift. I enjoy the activities on offer and try to take part - my initial outlook was dubious, but now I feel happy and settled here.
