Gifford House Care Home

My mum is fairly new to Gifford House and so we have been unable to get her a telephone line connection yet because the engineer cancelled due to the government lockdown. So the only contact we have with her is via a wonderful chat app group that provides families with lovely pictures of our loved ones. However, today staff went that extra mile and arranged a video call with my mum it was a wonderful thing to do and really appreciated by us as a family particularly as today would have been my dad's birthday. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Gifford House.

When I knew my Mum needed nursing care after being very ill in hospital, I looked around several places for her but as soon as I walked through the doors of Gifford House I was certain this would be the one for her. For the last six months of her life, until she died peacefully on March 30th, she has been very happy and extremely well cared for. All of the staff treated her with the utmost respect and dignity at all times, they are patient and very kind and there is nothing that they would not do for her. Family and all visitors are made very welcome and are cared for in every way, the lounge is a lovely place to sit and meet other people and the staff are helpful to you at all times. So thank you to all at Gifford House as not only did you make my Mums last few months of life very happy, it also gave me peace of mind that she was well taken care of at all times.

I cannot recommend Gifford House care home enough. My mum was cared for from February 2015 to when she sadly passed away in December 2019. From the moment I came through the door, I knew it was the right place for mum and in the end, it proved to be the best move we could have made. The care home facilities are excellent and continually improving but what makes it truly exceptional is their wonderful, supportive and caring staff. It may be a nursing home but what they have done is made it like a home from home for the residents and their families to continue to share their life and build memories together. They have great family get-togethers from BBQs to Halloween parties which mum and I have so enjoyed. Mum loved living here and I have loved visiting her and that's the highest recommendation I can give. I cannot thank all the wonderful staff enough for their kindness, humour and brilliant care. 5 stars, it's a great home with exceptional staff.

The care my mum was given went way above and beyond our expectations. We couldn't have wished for better. We put our trust in their hands, and we couldn't be more grateful that Mum was treated with respect and love, right up to her passing, which was dealt with the utmost sensitivity, respect and dignity. Can't thank you enough.

I would definitely recommend Gifford House Care Home.

I attended a resident and family/carer firework party tonight with my Dad. Dad is poorly with Alzheimer's and Cancer. We both really enjoyed the evening food, drink and fireworks included. The staff are always friendly and although Dad has his bad and sad days we know he is happy and looked after. He is normally asleep and in bed by 7pm. Tonight he was in the lounge chatting and listening to the families until 9pm.

Thank you so much for all your help with my nan. I honestly couldn't thank your staff enough for how much the family was made to feel welcome. I would highly recommend your care home. Thank you so much.

This care home was absolutely amazing. They looked after my nan so well, I know for a fact they made her so comfortable, and I honestly could not thank the care home enough. They did regular check-ups and overall, they were so supportive.

My father was a resident at Gifford House until his passing, he was admitted to Gifford House due to his previous home not being able to meet his needs after a short spell in hospital. My father had dementia and we were told constantly that he had become aggressive, although we never saw this. When dad was taken to Gifford House the first thing he said was “it’s lovely here” and for him to say these words meant so much, as he had never commented on his previous home. The staff soon got to know dad and his dislikes and likes and always told him or asked his permission to carry out any task. He was always clean-shaven and nicely dressed, nothing was too much to ask. In his final hours, the support we had as a family was truly amazing. My only regret was that we had not found out about Gifford House when looking for a care home for him. He was only there for four months but he enjoyed those four months even as his health deteriorated.

The staff are nice, caring and helpful. Any concerns raised with management seemed to be dealt with. Really appreciated the care given to my husband.
