I am extremely happy to visit my brother in this lovely home. Without exception, all the carers treat my brother and every other resident with kindness and respect. This allows all to regain their dignity, something so important to elderly people especially. They have lost their independence through
age or infirmity after a lifetime of achievement and fruitful life. There are plenty of opportunities to engage with other residents during the weekly activity programme. In his own words, my brother says he feels safe here.

I have been a volunteer with the activities department at Leonard Lodge Care Home for two years so I have seen first-hand how well they care for and support the residents and their families day in and day out. The home is very comfortable and homely and it has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff

My husband became a resident at Leonard Lodge in January 2020. When the manager left and Covid came then everything changed. In June 2020 I was told my husband was at end of life, but he is still with us! He is never out of bed and does not eat and it is heartbreaking to see, that he has no life he
only exists. I appreciate the last years have been difficult for everybody but fees have changed and I don't get value for money, he is not shaved regularly, hair is not washed or trimmed. I realise staff is a problem and they do their best. Perhaps if management paid themselves less and staff more recruitment might be easier.

Every time I have visited my brother at Leonard Lodge I have found the staff and facilities very helpful. Extremely clean rooms and seating areas. It has given myself and my family great peace of mind to know that he receives twenty-four hours of cover every day. May I say since coming to Leonard Lodge

Mum has been in the care home for two and a quarter years and at all times I have found management/carers and all staff to be mindful of the dignity, privacy and care of all people in their care. Covid has not made life easy and staff have gone the extra mile to keep me in touch with mum's health and
well-being at all times. She had covid and survived it and is putting on weight but her legs are failing her now but she is ok in herself, happy and content.

My uncle is so happy since he settled into Leonard Lodge. I know because I always ask him if he’s happy and he tells me he loves his room, the garden, he loves the food and he loves the staff, he says what more could he want. He is 97 and as a family it was the best decision we made knowing in his last
years he is in the best place he could be, getting the best care. What more could you want for a world war veteran!

Since my mother moved into Barchester Leonard Lodge she has been extremely happy. The staff are very friendly and efficient and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel very confident with the way the home is run. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

Leonard Lodge has been amazing with my Mum. She took a little time to settle but the staff were fantastic encouraging and helping her. Mum has now been there two years and is happy and always enjoyed getting her hair done. The staff have made sure that the routines and care continued during covid even
though she could not get her hair done her nails were painted as she loved that too. Her hair has been done again by the visiting hairdresser this week and the staff sent me a photo of my Mum with her new hairstyle. She looks so happy. I really appreciate all the staff at Leonard Lodge. They get to know the families and take an interest in the family member. I am so grateful for the care and kindness of this Nursing care home from nursing staff and administrative staff. Thank you to them all.

In very challenging circumstances and times (Dad being very poorly and Covid restrictions) the staff were very supportive and welcoming. Dad entered the home in January and we were unable to visit. However, the staff were very good at keeping us informed of Dad's progress, always making time to update
us during many calls. Since visiting has started I have been able to see all the facilities and care. Very good.

My husband has been a resident for 15-months. He was very difficult and aggressive when he went into the home, but staff coped well with his behaviour. He contracted Covid, was admitted to hospital, then I was told he was end of life on discharged back to the home. They nursed him brilliantly, and he
recovered. I am very grateful to them.

Hello, my name is Emma, and I am the Deputy Clinical Manager and Wellbeing Champion here at Leonard Lodge.


I am a qualified mental health nurse and joined Barchester following a 15 year career in the NHS, where I worked both inpatient and in the community. I have always worked with older adults, specialising in the care of people with dementia and frailty from diagnosis to end of life.


I am passionate about the delivery of high-quality, holistic and inclusive care to residents and the support of their caregivers. I have extensive experience in integrated teamwork, completing assessments, risk management, and problem-solving. I have provided dementia and frailty training to a wide range of professionals, including the acute trust and social care. I aim to incorporate learning at every opportunity to empower staff to gain the knowledge, understanding and the confidence to fulfil their potential.

As well as being an RGN I am also a qualified Mental Health Nurse. My keen interest in dementia care means that I work very closely with relatives and health care professionals to ensure that we are providing the very best personalised care for each of our residents.

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.


Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.


The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.


I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

I worked in London for the first six years of my career as a Records Clerk with the British Medical Association. I was fortunate enough to meet Prince Charles who was our Honorary President, at a Grand Ball held in his honour. I then progressed to being the Records Officer at Gray’s Inn.

Hello, My name is Allison, my mum is a resident here and I decided to become a volunteer so I could spend time with Mum whilst also supporting our residents.


I have have been busy working with the home to ensure the residents can live their best life, I have been instrumental in setting up a Leonard Lodge coffee morning which takes place every Thursday at 10 am. The coffee morning is free to attend and everyone is welcome. There is always free tea, coffee and cakes.
