Ashley Lodge is a very caring and compassionate care home under the circumstances. The staff are absolutely brilliant and make a difficult situation lighthearted. It is always a great pleasure to speak with each and everyone of them. My father is in the best hands in their care.

I come every few weeks to see my mum who has been in the home for over 2 1/2 years, the staff are always friendly, smiling, personable and so caring, could not ask for anything better. My mum is so happy in the home, she is made to feel special all the time and looked after with first class nurses and management. The senior manager of the home, is far more than just a manager, she is a friend and feels like family every time I come to visit mum. Cannot speak more highly about the care home, staff, environment, food and just everyone being so accommodating and personable.
Thank you for making mum so comfortable and even with her dementia, she is always smiling and that's down to every single person who works at Ashley Lodge and the way the management team work so hard to make it a family environment.

Thanks again for being amazing.

Nan was scared about going into a residential care home, but at the grand age of 96 when she entered here, she quickly began to like it. (Nan always liked Ashley Lodge, as another member of her family was here a few years ago and was treated very well before she passed.)The staff are lovely to her, and she loves it when they chat and interact with her. She has made some nice friends to talk to, but also enjoys it when she has visitors, which she has most days from her Daughter and Son, down to her Grandchildren even her Great Granddaughter, and occasionally her Great Great Grandchildren.

Nan loves the food here, and if there's something she doesn't like, they quickly find her something else to eat.

When no other care home would take Dad, Ashley Lodge stepped up. The "can do" practical, professional manager of the home & clinical lead made the transition to a new home swift & un-traumatic. Whilst still undergoing refurb & somewhat tired in places, the home provides a very safe environment, I couldn't fault the care.

Not only does this home feel like one big family, the manager and team very much make it so and make you so very welcome. I was able to stay overnight twice with Mum and our dog before she passed away. Every single staff member truly did care, the love for Mum that I witnessed and overheard blew me away. Having been a carer myself for many years, the true compassion from everyone for Mum and myself was incredible. This home truly does care and is a beacon of good practice.

My uncle had a crisis at home. The manager amazingly responded the same day and my Uncle is now in a safe and comfortable environment.
His condition has greatly improved and the manager and her team got on top of this within 12 hours of being admitted. He got a GP referral straight away and my uncle is now clinically well.

The staff are responsive and friendly and all his needs are met.

My husband has been treated with kindness, dignity and respect since he moved there in November last. He has dementia and mobility issues and other ailments of old age.

His room is quiet and comfortable, the whole house is light, bright and airy, easy to navigate and has a good lively and warm atmosphere. They do have plenty of activities if residents wish to take part and a lovely garden with lots of greenery to enjoy on warmer days. The carers and nurses are compassionate and gentle and the whole ethos of Ashley Lodge is spread from the management style and is somewhere I am confident and comfortable to know my husband is being cared for. Somewhat, in fact, I will probably be happy to live myself eventually.

My husband has been in the home for 5 months. He is very comfortable and settled in the home. It has been a journey for us as a family but from the time we walked into the home initially for respite care, the home has been able to offer comfort and support for all my husband's needs, medically, emotionally and physically. The manager is very much hands-on and leads the team with the same aims and goals that serve the home. This provides a very happy and positive effect for all and especially the residents. Not only is support provided for residents but the family also as this is a very emotional journey.

My Uncle has been in Ashley Lodge since coming out of hospital with an ongoing unpleasant illness where he requires help with most everyday needs. He is mentally strong and aware which helps us personally, to be reassured that the support and care that is required is good and as a family, for the time we have spent in the home we are all very happy with the way it is run, with the friendly, helpful staff, good home cooked food, the flexibility of visiting and as far as we can see the security of the patients.

My father was transferred here from hospital, I was anxious about him going into care but the whole team have supported not only my father but the whole family through this transition. The manager is lovely and has taken the time to get to know the family. All the staff are so friendly and caring and Dad enjoys chatting to them all. After a difficult 9 weeks in hospital, Dad is now settled in a caring environment.

Overall we found the care home to be very clean, pleasant with a lovely atmosphere. All of the staff we met were friendly and extremely helpful. My sister whom we visited twice was very relaxed and seemed quite happy in her environment. We did have a nice chat with the manager and she seems to be very on top of everything and was able to give us some insight into how my sister was coping. I do feel very much that my sister is in the right place and getting first-class care.

My wife was transferred to Ashley Lodge Care Home in New Milton directly from hospital for EOLC after suffering a fall, hip operation, pneumonia, and C Diff. Unexpectedly she survived just over a week. During that time both she and our family received exceptional care. Nothing was too much trouble and we were looked after so well. It was such a difference from the hospital surroundings as we could come and go as we pleased, they fed us and we were able to stay during the night if we wanted to. The Carers, Nurses, and Admin Staff were great and very proficient. Thank you so much for looking after my lovely Wife.

I have personally found Ashley Lodge to be a very friendly and open environment that welcomes visitors at anytime. I have also found the team to be responsive to any queries or comments I have made on behalf of my mother. My mother is up and down in her opinions of Ashley Lodge but her complaints are generally resulting from her frustration at not being at home and looking after herself. She does comment that sometimes staff say things but don't always follow up e.g. "I'll be back in a minute" but then don't come back and she is mentally sharp but sometimes due to deafness she thinks she is ignored. On the whole Ashley Lodge is very good.

The first time I visited this home I felt it would be the right place for my father, everyone regardless of their role is friendly and caring. The place feels like home, and has the support of specialist-trained people when needed, plenty of choice of food and if you don't fancy what's on the menu you can choose something else.

It means a lot to us to know Dad's being cared for when we can't be around.

I have found all staff to be caring, honest and approachable. My mother is on the dementia floor where it is very demanding of all the staff, they find time to have a quick chat about my mother and offer advice where needed. She seems quite happy and I am fully informed of any mishaps she has had and any issues that have arisen.

Overall we are very happy with the care she receives.

Jessica Rolfe
Jessica RolfeJob Title:Home Manager

I have worked in healthcare for over 12 years. I feel that you need to be so many things to be a care home manager but the most important thing you need is passion in everything you do for your residents and team.

I was born and raised in the village of Ashley so when the opportunity came up to make a difference to one of my local care homes, I grabbed it with both hands.

I’m a great believer in giving something back so spend a lot of time raising money for both local and national charities.

I have been working as a nurse in care homes for over three years and moved to Ashley Lodge in February 2019.

I love the professional, friendly and family atmosphere that we promote at Ashley Lodge.

My spare time is spent studying as I have a passion for learning and development.

I have been a carer for over 10 years and have worked at Ashley Lodge since 2017 – there’s nothing else that I would rather do!

We work as a team to provide care for our residents and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile on their faces.

In my spare time, I love to do charity work raising money for Cancer Research and Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.

I have worked as a member of the kitchen team at Ashley Lodge since 2018 and in July 2019 I was promoted to Chef Manager.

I love to take time to meet the new residents and find out about the food they like to eat, as I believe mealtimes are one of the most important times in our home.

My spare time is spent socialising and cooking for my friends and I also love to spend time at the beach.

Cathy Harkus
Cathy HarkusJob Title:Care AssistantJoined: 2020

Cathy spent most of her working career in a high-powered corporate job in the motor trade industry. After moving to a new area, semi-retired, she took a part-time role in a local bar. During lockdown, she wasn’t working and saw a lot of adverts on TV about the care industry and really wanted to help her local community, so she applied to work as a Home Assistant in our lovely home. “I really wanted to give something back to my community and I haven’t looked back! From kitchen work to housekeeping – I’ve done a bit of everything to help and I’ve loved it! I previously visited a care home when one of my relatives was in care and I couldn’t wait to get out of the place, but I’ve never had that feeling at Ashley Lodge. I walked in and the home was clean and tidy, the residents were lovely, and the staff were just so welcoming.”

“I love having a chat with our residents when I can but being part of making a difference to their lives is my favourite thing about working here. A few weeks ago the kitchen team served mince pies at afternoon tea and one of our residents was so excited! He told me how much he loves them, so I spoke to the kitchen and got him some extra ones and his face just lit up, he was so happy! It’s the little things that can make a huge difference to their day and I go home happy knowing that I made that happen.”
