An excellent facility for dementia patients and their relatives - very compassionate and flexible in helping accommodate, temporarily, the wife of a friend of mine with dementia and cater for her needs as well. She also reports delicious cuisine!

Brendoncare Alton helped us at a difficult time. They were friendly and encouraging from our first meeting. Our mother agreed to leave her home and move. We felt confident that Brendoncare would take good care of her.
Every member of staff we met was kind and charming.
The nurses worked so hard to stabilise our mother when she arrived and make her last few days more comfortable. Without exception, all the carers were lovely too.
Another example of the kindness that runs through Brendoncare is the chef who really wanted to give our mother something to eat that she would enjoy and on the last day of her life, got some delicious ice cream to give her a boost. Our mother loved it and ate it all.
I am sorry that our mother didn't have long to settle in and enjoy her time as there is obviously a very positive and lively life to be had.

When she died, the night staff were again so kind, reassuring and professional. We had great confidence in them caring for her with dignity.

My mother was a resident at Brendoncare Alton for nine years. Every step has been wonderful. From the moment we arrived, my mother's mental and physical health improved. Through her multiple remissions and illnesses, the standard of care and attention were exemplary. Communication has always been clean and open, any queries quickly and efficiently answered.
Access to visit is outstanding.

In my mother's final days, the care and respect were of the highest quality. Thank you for providing my mother with a wonderful finale to her life.

I cannot speak highly enough of the experience we have had so far with Brendoncare Alton. They were so supportive with the transfer from another home, meaning our mum is now closer and we can spend more time together. So far we have experienced very kind staff members and a very high standard of cleanliness. There has never been an unpleasant odour, which I feel reflects their commitment to keeping everything hygienically clean.

I would recommend Brendoncare Alton to anyone that is looking to find a caring, comfortable home for a loved one.

My mother was a resident at Alton Brendoncare for six years, including five years in the dementia unit, and it was a very positive experience.
The staff are incredibly caring and regularly go the extra mile to make a difference for the residents.
We looked at other homes before choosing Brendoncare, but I know we made the right choice.

Recommended without any reservations.

It wasn’t an easy decision to place our elderly Dad into a care home but after 3 years with full-time live in care and his health declining, a care home seemed the best option. From initial enquiry, to visiting the care home and to the day Dad went into the care home was seamless. It was a worry how Dad would transition into a care home environment but he is so happy there. The staff are friendly and interact with him and involve him with activities. The best decision was to place him into Brendoncare Alton as the family have peace of mind and know his needs anre being met and Dad is happy and safe in his environment.

I would just like to say that everyone at Brendoncare Alton was amazing. My husband was looked after wonderfully with true care and attention. All the staff were warm and oh so thoughtful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Hig progression was superb and although he has loved coming home, he wouldn't be where he is today without everyone's care. Biggest thanks.

My cousin was diagnosed with Dementia at the end of May 2023 and moved into the care of Brendoncare Alton. Sadly she passed away on 02/10/23 but during her stay at Alton the care, consideration of her wishes and friendship of the staff were exemplary. My mother was resident in Brendoncare Alton for nearly 5 years.
As a retired nurse I fully appreciated the high standard of nursing care she received particularly during her final few weeks. Everyone from reception to the carers were outstanding and could not have done more for either my mother or her relatives.

The general atmosphere within the home was a very happy one.

The care my mother receives at Brendoncare Alton Care Home is excellent. The staff do a fantastic job caring for her. Although Mum doesn't always join in with activities, it is not from lack of encouragement. Recently, she went to the seaside and had a wonderful day.

It is hard to admit you cannot care for your loved one but Brendoncare is the very best place for her.

This review follows 1 year on from my positive August 2022 review I wrote.

Brendon Alton continue to provide excellent care for my uncle as his condition has advanced and worsened. All the staff I know are friendly, helpful, well trained and importantly 'caring'.

A huge thanks to the team in the Foyle dementia house, thank you for the hard work you put in, in a very testing environment. Your skills and happy positive nature really help Uncle and me visiting.

Still highly recommended care home.

I was grateful at the speed at which my necessary respite care was arranged at short notice. The care staff were exceptional and always there to talk with and always more than happy to assist whatever time it was, though staff obviously had to spend time with those with priority needs. There was delightful banter and teasing between the staff and residents and each other, added to the real family atmosphere.

The staff in this spacious home are kind and friendly and work well together. The entertainment team have a varied weekly program of activities and encourages participation by the residents. Special events included a delightful Valentine's lunch for couples in a lovely party setting. The most challenging group to engage in are the high-dependence units. Apart from the music, they respond best to individual attention which the cares do well but are very busy in other ways. I have been a volunteer visitor in another nursing home to chat, listen and help people to recall their memories - hold on to their personhood. Perhaps the entertainment team could think about leading such a small team here.

I initially started my career with Brendoncare as a care assistant and was inspired to go on to my nurse training, and returned as an RN after a few years in the NHS. I then furthered my career, becoming Brendoncare’s deputy manager.

One of my main interests is long-term care of people living with dementia and how we can support them and their families. I attended various dementia workshops and took what I learnt into creating a dementia workshop programme for the staff at Alton to give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to help them give effective and meaningful care.

I am now Brendoncare’s Dementia Lead but have returned to Alton as its interim manager.

Both my mother and my grandmother had a passion for caring and their dedication to helping other people inspired me to train as a nurse. I graduated in nursing in 2005, then took a Masters degree in Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2008. After having worked in two private settings, I started working in social care in 2015 and joined Brendoncare in 2018 as Deputy Manager. I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact in people's lives, especially in a field where understanding, empathy and support are crucial.

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my young daughter growing up and exploring the world around her. My husband restores classic cars and we enjoy going to car races and shows and have even won some international competitions.

My 12 years of social care experience have been mainly working for corporate nursing home providers in customer-facing roles supporting families seeking residential care for their loved ones. I joined Brendoncare in 2017 initially as a wellbeing coordinator, bringing fun and joy to residents’ lives through a range of activities. After a brief spell in 2019 working for another care provider, I returned to Brendoncare as Customer Relations Manager. This role involves supporting new residents and their families to ensure their move to a Brendoncare home goes as smoothly as possible.

I enjoy watercolour painting and entering amateur photography competitions. I love the smell of freshly cut grass and fragrant roses in my garden – appreciating the beauty of life’s simple pleasures means so much to me.
