Brendoncare Alton

The staff in this spacious home are kind and friendly and work well together. The entertainment team have a varied weekly program of activities and encourages participation by the residents. Special events included a delightful Valentine's lunch for couples in a lovely party setting. The most challenging group to engage in are the high-dependence units. Apart from the music, they respond best to individual attention which the cares do well but are very busy in other ways. I have been a volunteer visitor in another nursing home to chat, listen and help people to recall their memories - hold on to their personhood. Perhaps the entertainment team could think about leading such a small team here.

Our neighbour moved into Brendon Care Alton in early February. From the first meeting and visit, we just knew this was the best place to care for him. The facility, the staff and most importantly, the level of care provided are all first class. Highly recommended.

My experience with Brendoncare Alton Care Home was hugely positive. My dad was on a two-week respite stay. The carers looked after dad so well, they were beyond amazing and I'm truly grateful. I'd highly recommend the home to anyone seeking for their loved ones. It's a real home from home, a warm place and dad enjoyed his time there. Thank you!

My mother was taken into care after a short time in the hospital, much to her initial upset, but within a very short time (two days) she suddenly realised that she had been struggling for some years, trying to be independent. The care and attention were beyond all of our expectations and she rapidly felt that she was one of the family! As her condition worsened, she thought she was getting even more attention from the staff and felt very secure and safe.

We are content with our life here.

My husband and I came here in March and have experienced such a help since then. We are extremely pleased that we decided to move from Essex, nearer our son and daughter-in-law who live nearby Farnham. We have not filled in all the ticks as we are fairly new members of this community and have not experienced everything they have to offer as yet. For my husband, the daily care has been excellent, morning and evening.

My father also mentions on every visit how lovely the staff are.

I cannot fault the care and facilities at Brendoncare. The staff are all so kind, patient and attentive. I would not want Mum looked after anywhere else. Thank you all so much.

The care my mother received was superb and I cannot recommend Brendoncare more highly. All the staff were so helpful. A very well run establishment.

Not tested the food/drink and not aware of any activities so have left unrated. All the staff, carers and nurses were very caring and showed great patience with my mother, during the last six months of her life at the home. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble to anyone we talked to during our visits.

I simply cannot thank all the staff at this nursing home enough, from the moment my mother arrived there all the staff from staff in reception to all the wonderful carers in her section of the home were so friendly, caring and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. They all kept my mum in good spirits and were always there for her. I cannot thank the staff enough and would recommend this home 100%.

When the time came to select a care home we wanted somewhere which was safe, clean and with caring staff who would respect and value dad. Brendoncare Alton has so far fulfilled all our expectations - and more. On our first visit, we were given plenty of opportunities to ask the many questions we had and got a full tour of the home. One of the most impressive aspects of Brendoncare Alton is the genuine warmth of the staff who all stop to speak as you go around. Importantly, they all show respect for each other and operate in a very professional way as a team. When we visit dad we are always able to speak directly to the nurse on duty. Dad is very content with his situation and routinely praises the staff, all of whom know him. His room is clean and tidy and he is very happy with the food. He likes to take us around to meet people when we visit and regularly tells us how impressed he is with how quickly the staff attends to him if he needs something. We have made the right call.

Brendoncare Alton was recommended to me by a friend who also uses them for Respite breaks. At first, I was a little apprehensive as I had been using another provider for many years who had recently closed down. However, it didn't take long for me to realise that the facilities and care I was receiving was far superior to my previous provider. The first thing that struck me was that there were no lingering odours anywhere and the whole place was spotlessly clean which is a testament to the housekeeping and care staff alike. Residents always looked well presented with their clothes ironed. For me personally, these things are of high importance as it helps maintain a sense of wellbeing and dignity. Many of the staff have been there a long time which again speaks volumes and they all worked well together as a team. I never felt rushed and they would always respond attentively to any request I had and nothing was too much trouble for any of them.

My 92-year-old father suffers from dementia and limited mobility and has been resident in a Brendon Care home since January 2021. My Mother and I are both extremely pleased with the care he receives there. Initially, my Mum was very reluctant to place him in a home but now, having seen the high standard of care he is given, she sees that the decision was right for them both. During our visits, we have been highly impressed with all the staff and the way they deal with my Dad and with other, more difficult, residents. We really cannot speak highly enough of them or express sufficient gratitude for their dedication and professionalism. Even my Dad himself - never an easy man to please - speaks highly of the staff whenever we visit. The only thing he praises more than his carers is the food! Due to Covid, I can’t personally vouch for that yet but to please Dad it must be a chef standard or higher! And I can vouch that the cups of tea we get every visit are excellent!

My mother entered Brendoncare Alton in June 2021 having moved from a care home in Exeter. We were concerned about how the change would affect her and whether she would settle. However thanks to the care and kindness she received from all the staff she has settled in well. When I visit all are friendly and helpful answering any questions I may have and informing me if any concerns arise. I would certainly recommend Brendoncare Alton if you are looking for care for a relative.

Given the exceptionally difficult circumstances due to Covid Brendoncare Alton went out of their way to retain communication, Zoom up and running in days and booked slots worked with professionalism. Updates continually from nursing staff, hospital admissions immediately arranged and kept informed. Management is supportive of visiting arrangements at all times. The staff very kind and did everything possible to ensure mum remained safe. Area perhaps could be improved understanding of how ARMD (age-related macular degeneration) (dry and wet) impacts on vision.

The genuine care and respect for my Aunt really came through in the short time she was with you. We felt relaxed once she came to you, knowing that she was receiving the attention, medical and personal care she needed. The kindness of the staff shone through. I would recommend Brendon Care to anyone who is looking for a nursing home for their loved one.

Right from the beginning, staff took an interest in our Aunt, who she was, her likes, dislikes and interests. They also managed her very complex care needs with experience and expertise and liaised with specialists as necessary. The communication with us was of a very high standard and we were kept up to date immediately with any changes. Nothing was too much trouble and this was consistent across every staff member. We will always be grateful.
