Challoner House offers high-quality nursing and residential care in an un-rivalled setting located in the lovely village of Chandlers Ford, and on a direct bus route to and from Southampton.

The warmth of welcome from the team of staff can be felt the minute as soon as visitors step foot into this lovely home.

With their help and the help of the ladies and gentlemen who live with them – they really do offer a home from home. The team provides high-quality care with a caring and person-centred attitude. Their approach to nursing care is based on the use of personalised care plans. Drawn up with the individuals they support and their families, care plans will help ensure that each person they look after is treated with respect and that their independence and choice are maximised.

Professionals passion for the home can be seen in everything they do - in their cooking, hospitality, housekeeping and, of course, in organising activities for residents.

Activities make up the most important part of all their days and at Challoner House, they ensure they provide a variety that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the ladies and gentlemen they support. Full use is made of the home’s minibus and being located so close to the M3 in minutes, they can be enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are several regular group sessions – but perhaps the most popular – certainly with the ladies are regular pamper sessions.

Beautifully landscaped award-winning gardens allow residents to enjoy a high standard of outdoor living. The frequent events and parties include all residents who wish to join in and their families.

The home takes pride in the staff and residents at Challoner to make it as homely as possibly can.

Dad came into Barchester Challoner House Care Home as respite following his primary carer having to go to hospital.
He was made very welcome and all staff have made him welcome. All staff have been happy, cheerful and respectful.

My father was admitted to Challoner House in July 223. He was very poorly and not expected to live for long. However, he improved and received care at Challoner until he passed away peacefully there in May 24.
The staff have been so kind, caring and supportive throughout this difficult time.

A good home, well-run, the staff are kind, caring and efficient. There are no nasty smells, it's clean and food is healthy and traditional. There are regular activities so residents don't get bored.
As a registered nurse, I was fussy where my husband went, nowhere is perfect. But Barchester Challoner
House Care Home is about as good as it gets.

The whole staff go beyond their duties which played out for all to see when the resident recently had her 100th birthday event. It really was superb everyone involved just could not do more not only for this event. Everyone is so friendly, like a family which means so much to those who have no family.

The home is very homely. The members of staff are all very friendly and all say hello when they see you and have a laugh and a joke with you and Dad which creates a good atmosphere. The girls all wave when they pass Dad's room and speak to him. The nurses are very helpful and answer any questions about
Dad. Also, the lads that bring the drinks trolley round are very friendly and helpful.

I found all staff including doctors, nurses, carers, cleaners, helpers and even the chef very friendly and helpful at all times. I've felt my dad has been in good hands and have never felt worried for his care. Everybody has been loving and thoughtful.

My husband recently spent two weeks in Barchester Challoner House Care Home for end of life care. Although his stay was short I cannot fault the care he received. All the staff were so kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, no problem unsolvable. The care and compassion shown to both my husband
and myself were
first rate and I shall always be grateful to all concerned.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Challoner to anyone seeking a safe, kind and caring environment for a loved one.

From the first time we viewed Challoner House, we were so impressed with the staff and facilities. Every single member of staff is friendly and helpful and shows such care and compassion. Dad is showed so much love from all of the team. We would highly recommend it to everyone.

Our father suffered a stroke at 66, stopping him to move or communicate. The manager and the team have been so amazing and compassionate. We can't recommend the whole team enough.

There still seems to be an issue with the quality of food. Mum often says the meat isn't good quality and the food presentation could be improved. I know it must be difficult to cater for 50+ people but perhaps some discussion is needed!

Can honestly say how amazing the staff have been. Polite, friendly and just amazing. Didn't think my mother-in-law would be the nicest person to go in a home but the staff made her feel really welcome.

Mother was found a place at very short notice in July when her former care home closed without adequate warning. She was 102. When she had settled down, she told me that this was the best thing that I had ever done for her,
Finally, her age and frailty caught up with her and an ACP (Anticipatory Care
Process) was instigated. The senior nurses at the home were excellent talking me through the inevitable and what to expect with their prime concern to keep Mother comfortable. They had a great liaison with her new GP who seemed to be fully aware of everything that was happening.
At 3.20 a.m. on a Sunday, a Senior called to say that she had passed away. The ACP had included instructing an undertaker so there was nothing for me to do. Nobody likes to think about End of Life care. I echo Mother's words. Moving her to Challoner was the best thing we could have done for all of us.

In the few years that Daddy spent at the care home, he became a favourite with some of the carers. He was a bit of a joker in his day and the staff always joined in. All the staff were professional and they took the time to answer queries. Bless you, for your patience and commitment. Thank you.

Dani's role is to support General Manager by maintaining the administration and financial systems within the home in accordance with company standards and in compliance with all regulatory and statutory obligations. Dani is often the first point of contact for relatives and representatives and tends to get to know everyone more personally.

I started my chef career as a second chef in a hospital before taking on the role of Head Chef at Challoner House in May 2023. I have been lucky enough to be able to attend and pass the Barchester Chef Academy.


In my spare time, I enjoy travelling the world, learning new culinary skills and socialising with friends. I also enjoy going back home to Poland to visit my family.
