A very caring environment for my aunt. Lovely staff, a very clean, pleasant room and pretty gardens to look out on. I feel my aunt is being given very good care and her dignity is well maintained in her twilight years.

My experience is that the home is very well run. The staff are looking after my mother very well. Some days my mother finds that food could be improved, she seems to have too much fish which she does not eat.

The activities coordinator is always happy and enthusiastic about her job. She really cares for the residents and likes to make sure they join in. She is always organising events to fund the residents having various activities eg. visiting entertainers, petting zoo etc.

From the first time I visited Challoner House to visit a resident (now deceased), I have found the home to be a very good unit compared to hospital units! I visited as Chaplain. The care is up with some of the best, and better than many.

I have found the staff helpful and supportive of my ministry, and very caring towards residents. I frequently recommend Challoner House to people who are looking for residential care for relatives.

Great attention is paid to me every need both mental and physical. Regular opportunities occur for residents to discuss with staff any complaints of any kind with regard to care, food or any difficulty.

Since I have been here, I have found staff very helpful and caring and very patient, even when extremely busy and short staffed, but it does vary with different members of staff. Basically, I think they all work extremely hard and have been very caring when anyone becomes emotional.

My father was admitted to Challoner in a very poor state, having suffered a fractured pelvis which left him unable to cope at home suffering a series of falls. Due to the excellent care from all the staff, he has made a remarkable recovery. All his sores have disappeared (due to his hospital stay), he is eating well and he has put on 10lbs in weight. I would highly recommend the home as there are plenty of staff who are very friendly and helpful. The quality and quantity of food is excellent and the activities and facilities are very good. More importantly, my father is happy there.

I go in as a volunteer most weeks. I spend time with the resident, painting nails when they have had their hair done by the hairdresser.

Staff are always welcoming to me - even though it's only once a week. Always a pleasant atmosphere.
