Dad was very reluctant to settle in at the beginning but over time became part of the Flowerdown family and so did I. You can see this from the many photos of Ted with his cheeky smile.

My wife and I were very pleased with the care provided to my sister, who had been discharged from hospital with a cracked hip. The home was able to provide a room for her at short notice and made her very welcome.
All the staff were most helpful and professional and always said hello with a smile. The facilities were very good and everything was clean, without the stale smell associated with some care homes. The lovely gardens were an added bonus.
There seemed to be a good choice of activities each day and the food looked very appetising.

All in all, we felt that my sister was being well cared for by professionals in pleasant surroundings.

My father has been a resident in Flowerdown for 8 years. During this time he has received the best care and support that I could have wished for. All the staff are excellent, the care that they provide my father is outstanding giving me as a relative confident and secure that my father is in the best hands. The staff are always polite, friendly, caring and kind. I am kept fully informed of how my father is doing and any issues that arise are always discussed.

Thank you so very Team Flowerdown you truly are amazing.

I am extremly happy with the care here at Flowerdown. The environment is like a hotel. Meals are nutritious and residents can make a special request. There are lots of activities on offer to suit everyone with regular outings. Again residents are given the opportunity to request an activity they have a special interest in. Staff are all very friendly. Any concerns are all addressed.

I'm so grateful my mum is here.

Overall Experience

I recently booked a month-long period of respite care at Flowerdown Care Home following hip replacement surgery with same-day discharge from hospital.

I was fortunate to find a place at this home, as many care homes do not accept younger residents (I am 46 years old).

The nursing staff were very accommodating and collected me from the local hospital in the minibus.

I received a high standard of nursing care, especially in the early days following the operation.

My room was spacious and well appointed, with a large walk-in wardrobe, en-suite wet-room and lovely view of the gardens and grounds.

The management and administrative team and the nursing, caring, housekeeping, catering, maintenance and activities staff were all very approachable and helpful, endeavouring to accommodate my wishes wherever possible.

There is a genuine sense of community and shared values at Flowerdown, and I would not hesitate to recommend this care home for periods of respite and recovery.

3 main qualities in this marvellous establishment. Top-end professionalism: the carers care so well and kindly, the chefs provide tasty nourishing food, the cleaners clean thoroughly, the activities are fun and engaging, the admin is efficient, the gardener creates a lovely outside environment, maintenance keeps everything working well and the managers know how to manage and get the best from the organisation. And it's one team, everyone pulls in one direction. The different people doing their different jobs all work in the same style, same ethos: to make life better for the residents. They don't only clean/cook/garden etc, each & every person behaves like a carer. And they're without exception positive, friendly and smiley.

As a result, my mother is in noticeably better shape now than when she arrived. So absolute thanks and respect to Flowerdown for the positive impact it has on residents, and consequently their families and friends.

Overall Experience
My almost 95-year-old mum has been at Flowerdown for a year now. She moved in after experiencing one fall too many, and it became clear that she could no longer live independently or receive the level of everyday care and support she needed at home.
When she arrived, she was frail and unwell - we honestly thought she might be in her final few months.
A year later, she is so much brighter and very much full of life. She enjoys the activities on offer, and the team gently encourages her to take part, which makes a real difference. Sharing meals with other residents in the dining room has also been beneficial for her well-being. And she never says no to the regular cups of tea and biscuits - always served with a warm smile and kind words from the staff.
Flowerdown has done, and continues to do an outstanding job of caring for our very precious mum.

From our families' perspective, Flowerdown has lifted the burden of constant worry. We have complete peace of mind knowing that she is in the best place, receiving the best care possible.

I would like to say this is not a complaint, but on observation, I was very satisfied with the recent visit to the care home, with one exception. Probably because the majority of the residents are deaf, the carriers do not close the doors but bang them. This may seem trivial to you, but it wasn't to me as I became very nervous and jumpy and the carers noticed this. I had to spend most of my time in my room.

I have been a carer for 6 years; I started my Care journey with Flowerdown. I really enjoy my job and am very passionate about ensuring my residents are well looked after and happy. I am passionate about resident inclusion, enabling our residents to feel independent and purposeful. In my spare time, I play basketball and have been doing so for many years. My biggest passion is singing. I often sing to the residents, and they really enjoy this.

Hello, my name is Priyanka, and I am a care assistant here at Flowerdown. I have worked here for just over 2 years. I joined care as I always had a passion to care for the elderly and to ensure they have a better quality of life. I was very close to my grandparents, and I feel they would be very proud of the person I am today and the qualities and experiences I have learnt along the way.

In my spare time, I enjoy dancing and going shopping with my friends and family.
