Flowerdown Care Home is situated in the quiet village of Harestock just off the M3, nestled in leafy surroundings, with Winchester shops less than 10 mins by car.

Flowerdown provides first-class residential and nursing care, offering respite and short breaks, as well as permanent care placements.

The home benefited from a full refurbishment completed in mid 2024. The refurbishment included all areas of the home from bedrooms to communal areas, the finish is exquisite and has given the home a warm, comfortable but high class feels.
Set over two floors, with spacious lounge areas and first class restaurant dining rooms on both floors, where food is prepared by award winning academy trained chefs.

The home has benefits from large landscaped gardens with seating areas and walkways - perfect for sitting and relaxing or taking in the beautiful scenery. The home and gardens are set back and this allows the home to be a peaceful and tranquil environment.

There's also a wide and varied activity programme, scheduled for group activities, or offering residents one to one activities of their choosing and tailored to their individual request.

The café bistro is open to all, boasting delicious freshly made cakes, please pop in, enjoy a slice of cake, see the home and meet the wonderful team - no appointment needed.

My mother came to Flowerdown nearly four years ago, following neglect at another home and a hospital admission. I refused to allow her back in and set out to find somewhere more suitable. I felt the love, care and compassion of the staff the moment I stepped through the door. She was there for four
years. She was welcomed and extremely well cared for. Her individual needs catered for and respected. She was treated with dignity and compassion. During the last year, her health sadly deteriorated and she remained in her bed. Because of covid, of course, we couldn’t visit which made it hard. Both my brother and I had weekly FaceTime with mum. Because of her health, she didn’t know who we were or want to look at the screen. The staff respected our wishes to us not wanting mum disturbed and turned the iPad around so we could see mum but her not see us. This was incredibly vital to us at the horrid time of covid we could see for ourselves she was okay. She sadly has now passed away. I cannot fault them.

My mother was admitted to Flowerdown Care Home at the end of January following a stroke. My brother and I were kept informed of the situation by the staff at Flowerdown and we were able to visit mum on several occasions. We were happy that mum was being well cared for in her last few days.

At the beginning of the pandemic, our mum transferred to Flowerdown following a short stay in hospital, where she was being treated for an infection and the effects of delirium. As a family, we were extremely concerned about her going into a care home at that time but we quickly realised that Flowerdown
was an extremely well-run and caring home and that Mum was in the best possible place. Since she's been at Flowerdown, we have been very impressed with the way that the home has engaged with us in the delivery of her care and in how they've updated us on any issues and involved us in finding solutions. The staff are brilliant, showing great empathy and respect to the residents. Being able to visit Mum in the garden throughout the summer has been a real bonus and we are delighted with the new indoor visiting room. We would certainly recommend Flowerdown as a safe, warm and caring home and take this opportunity to thank all the hard working, caring staff at Flowerdown.

My dear Dad was admitted to Flowerdown for end of life palliative care, following a dreadful few weeks in hospital and the shocking news that nothing further could be done for him. We had huge reservations about a nursing home for him, but the care he received was excellent. He was washed properly
every day, clean clothes, a peaceful room with a garden view, and requests from us were considered and accommodated where possible. We asked for a second table at his bedside, as he was bedbound and upset that he couldn't reach things, and one was found for him. The staff were kind and attentive, and we did feel relieved he was being looked after properly at last. Management was excellent and supportive, as we found it incredibly distressing that all our visits were socially distanced from the garden/doorway due to the Covid19 restrictions, but they were empathetic to our grief. At the end, he was gently supported as he left this world, so thank you from our family.

My husband has been a resident at Flowerdown Care Home for six months and I cannot speak more highly of the care he is receiving. On his path with dementia, the staff have shown great patience and understanding and have been happy to maintain a link with me personally during the months that I have been
unable to visit him because of the virus. Recently, the management have created a visitors' 'pod' which is a small sectioned-off bit in one of their lounges, with two armchairs and a specially set up sound system enabling the resident and their visitor to hear each other through the perspex screen. It is brilliant. Thank you Flowerdown!

I haven’t been at the home long but am really happy here. Everybody is so kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The activities are very good as is the food. I’ve made some really good friends here.

I have been at the care home for six years and I have been very happy over the years. I've made many friends. The carers are very helpful and present. The food Is excellent. The room I have is pleasant and I have a lovely view of the garden. I like everyone in the lounge and activities.

He is always addressed by his Christian name all the care team know him and play their part in making his days as well as possible and he gets what he needs and would like. My father spent his last days at Flowerdown, and he could not have been cared for better.
It was very clear to us as a family that he was being treated with compassion and professionalism.
There is no good way to lose a father, but the staff made it as good as possible.

My mother has been a resident for nearly eight years. During that time she has been nursed and looked after extremely well. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. She was happy, always with a smile on her face. Any problems the staff came across I was always consulted on and any problems or queries

I chose Flowerdown for my mother because, although not the smartest one I looked around, it felt the most like a home and not a hotel. My son-in-law has been here since the 4th of February. He has had many ups and downs in the last eight months. The staff have been very kind and helpful with his needs especially as he is bed bound.
My admiration for your nursing staff is high checking on his needs going beyond the call of duty. The
home itself is in desperate need of modernisation but overall I couldn't be happier with his care.

Mum spent her final two weeks in Flowerdown having palliative care. All members of staff were kind, caring and respectful, both of Mum and our family. Mum's room was quiet, sunny and had a lovely garden view - things that mattered most to her. Open visiting hours and access to the visitors' lounge with
refreshments made a difficult time more comfortable for our family. I would summarise the care and location as kind, down to earth and exactly what we all needed. Thank you.

Since my early 20’s I have been working in maintenance, covering various aspects, from facilities maintenance to designing and coordinating Opera stages. For the last 5 years, I have been involved in the care industry, focusing on maintaining care home environments for people with learning difficulties.


Outside of work, I am a keen fitness addict and go to the gym 4-5 times a week. To relax, I enjoy playing my guitar or listening to music and listening to daily podcasts

Hello, I am Jander and I am the newly appointed Head Chef at Flowerdown Care Home. I was born in Brazil and came to England in 2004. My love for cooking started at a young age and I have been working in the hospitality industry at various restaurants and in other care homes for over 20 years.
I am very passionate about creating 5 Star quality food that meets the nutritional and dietary requirements. I have a NVQ in Professional Cooking and I have recently qualified from the 2024 Barchester Chef Academy which I am exceptionally proud of and intend to use what I have learnt and apply this at Flowerdown. In my spare time I love gardening and also creating new dishes and recipes.

Susan is Flowerdown Care Home's resident ambassador. Sue is one of our kind-hearted and generous residents who shares her time ensuring her neighbours have a friend in her. Sue also is our resident cheerleader who rekindles the spirits of the staff when it is much needed. Ian Tagg

Hello, my name is Ian and I’m the head of Magnolia Unit (the first floor in Flowerdown).
I’ve been a nurse for over 30yrs, qualifying in Portsmouth in 1992. During that time, I’ve led a team giving 1 to 1 24hr care, to a prominent F1 figure as he travelled around the world and worked on a local NHS rehabilitation unit; the last 5yrs of which I was the senior charge nurse/unit deputy.
In 2023 I stepped away from a management role seeking a better work life balance and a return to providing high-quality, person-centred care. Flowerdown, and the fantastic team within it were the people to give me that opportunity.
I strive to provide outstanding care with a light-hearted approach aiming to put both the residents and their families at ease. I pride myself on learning the residents’ personal preferences and idiosyncrasies to ensure they feel safe and at the centre of their care. I am always happy to listen to ensure we can make the lives of our residents the best they can be.

I am Iona Moore, Head of Unit. I have worked at Flowerdown for 3 years. My Passion is working with the elderly and providing outstanding person centered care. I have been a nurse for a total of 15 years. 5 years of those I worked in a military hospital. Before becoming a nurse, I was a qualified farming engineer. I am very passionate about my job and I am very proud to be a part of the Flowerdown family.

Hi! I'm Elvans Nurse at Flowerdown. I have 13 years of work experience in various healthcare settings that taught me multiple skills and one I wouldn't trade for the world.


As a Senior Nurse, my primary responsibility is to safeguard our resident's best interests and welfare. We value and cherish our residents like our own family. What is important to our residents is important to us.

Pat has worked in Flowerdown since 2001 and the laundry is very much her domain. Pat enjoys her job and the residents likewise enjoy her daily visits and chats when she brings their freshly washed and ironed clothes back to their rooms. Pat takes pride in what she does and this is much appreciated by our residents here at Flowerdown Care Home.

Ian Gregory

I have worked for the care sector in many roles for over 20 years.


My passion for gardening has been with me for many years, starting with growing vegetables and house plants when I bought my first house, followed by creating a family-friendly garden for my children.
Now that the children are grown up, I'm enjoying designing a new style of garden for me and my wife, including building a summer house.


I have been gardening at Flowerdown since 2018, and the focus is to create a homely environment for the residents and their families.


I have weekly chats with the residents to discuss the current plans, my ideas and their wishes.


I have made a lot of new boarders at the front of the home and redesigned the raised beds in the back garden to include a climbing frame for new planting, which includes an area for the squirrels to feed, something that the residents enjoy.
