Without exception the staff at Millway House were very professional, caring and attentive to my mother over her two year stay with them.
The activities offered were second to none. She joined in with so many of them.

The Nursing Home was spotless. The food very varied and nutritious.

I am pleased with Millway House for the way they are caring for my Dad.
He seems happier and has gained weight since being admitted.
All the staff are very efficient in every aspect of care.

I do like it here and everyone is very helpful and looks after me. After the recent fall I did not feel that the management were very concerned about my welfare. Nurses and carers were first class in helping me after my fall.

The care my Dad has received at Millway House has been of an extremely high quality. Every effort has been made to communicate effectively with him, to understand his values, likes and dislikes and favourite activities. Challenges have been met with understanding and compassion. These include his difficult behaviour recently when staff were understandably unable to take him out, and his reluctance to shower regularly. He has been encouraged to express himself, whether verbally, or in the activities he has engaged in. It warms my heart to see him playing maracas or a tambourine, or to see his painting of a pheasant on the wall. The environment is pleasant and secure. I'm impressed at the organisational aspects of the care home, particularly the ability to share information instantaneously across all staff using electronic devices. I'm running out of space so let me end by saying 'Thank you!'

All residents needs are met, she is happy and settled. I like and so does she that she has been able to make her room cosy with things from home. Excellent nursing when she was taken seriously ill, medical assistance was quickly sorted. I couldn't ask for more.

Mum is treated with great respect and the staff are so friendly and helpful. She is staying for rehabilitation following a fall at home. Progress has been slow due to a wound on her heel which happened during her stay in hospital, but the care and attention at Millway has been second to none.

Overall care at Millway House is very good. One area for improvement would be the laundry, as my sister has experienced having other people's garments left for her and items missing. Hopefully this will improve!

Selection of food could be improved. When in-house, the variety at lunchtime and evening was very good.

Mum came to Millway in May from another care home where we were increasingly concerned for her wellbeing - her dementia and physical decline means she's dependent for help with everyday things. The move has been life-changing for all of us. The standard of care and attention so far has been exceptional but what lifts Millway way above the bar is its positive vibe - the whole team makes us feel we're part of a family rather than paying customers. Everyone, regardless of job role, consistently shows up as friendly, welcoming, fun, professional and invested in making Mum's world the best it can be. Mum has her dignity back and is being gently encouraged to re-engage. We no longer worry about her welfare or possessions. Nothing is too much trouble. Call buttons are reacted to quickly. Info is listened to and acted upon. Emails are answered promptly and there are regular update phone calls. Millway is living up to its high reputation and we're very happy to recommend it.

Review from Pamela M (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 September 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our mum recently had 3 weeks respite care in Millway House. From our first contact with the home, the communication was excellent. The staff who conducted the home visit chatted with Mum as well as us, not easy when your loved one is a dementia sufferer. Whenever we visited, we were given an update on how Mum was doing and any areas of concern were highlighted. She always looked happy and cared for. We were sent the activities planner and menu by e-mail every week. The range of activities was excellent, and the activities co-ordinator spent a lot of time getting to know Mum on her first day there.
There are plenty of places where you can sit and have a coffee and chat when you visit.

Wonderful carers. Millway House ticked every box for us.

My mum has been living at Millway House for 18 months now after a fall at home and a stroke while recovering in hospital. She has no mobility as a result but she is well cared for and we got a special wheelchair which enables the staff to move her out of her room and she has her own favourite chair from home too. She is well attended to and cared for.

Red button non-effective. 3 times lately I have had to attend to myself after toilet use with much difficulty and pain. Little attention given to me at 104 years old. I do not use emergency red button except when really needed. No response from carer. No senior people in charge of each floor. Nobody about at night, all presumably not needed to answer red button!

Having worked in the care sector for many years, I can't fault the care provided to Dad. Staff are compassionate and treat everyone with respect and dignity. Communication is excellent and everyone is accommodating. To hear Dad say 'I'm safe and if I want anything I just use my buzzer' is all the reassurance I need.

Millway House provides the perfect setting for my mother's care - she has quite advanced dementia and they cope with all her nursing, mental health and pastoral needs with compassion, care and understanding.
They are always more than happy to discuss her needs and tailor things accordingly.

As a family we are so very happy with Mum spending her later years at Millway - it really is her 'happy place'.

My dad has been at Millway House for three and a half years. I cannot fault the care he has, given that he is not the easiest of their guests! He is treated with care, dignity and patience. The staff are always helpful and work well together. I go in almost every day at various times and speak with many of the residents there - very few have any complaints! My mum was only there eight months before she died (COVID) and adored it. Every picture I have of her is one big smile or laugh.

My gran has been here since May 22. She has settled in well, and all the staff treat her with respect. Her room is always lovely and warm and kept clean and tidy, and we feel comfortable approaching the nurses or carers if we have any concerns.

Gran is not a big socialiser; however, she likes her weekly bingo game and going to the hairdresser is also something she enjoys. All the family are happy with the care she has and continues to receive whilst at Millway Care Home.
