Millway House is a former large family home, set in its own extensive grounds, and located in Weyhill, 4 miles from Andover. Previously belonging to the Hartigan, then the Balding families, the house became a residential home in the 1980s, catering for people over the age of 65. Following thoughtful re-development and an extension to the premises in 2008, Millway established itself as a high-quality nursing home, offering excellent nursing accommodation together with the following:

·        High-quality care from well trained experienced staff.
·        Tastefully decorated bedrooms mostly with en-suite shower facilities.
·        Well laid out lounges, two large dining areas and a garden room.
·        Assisted bathrooms/shower rooms with easy access facilities
·        Beautiful gardens set in open countryside.
·        Hairdressing salon, activity, and quiet rooms.
·        Varied menu with choices offered from freshly cooked food.

The team at Millway House understands that people need nursing care for a variety of reasons. With a newly completed ‘state of the art’ nursing wing with all the facilities, the team are therefore able to offer a wide range of services and are always on hand to speak to in general terms or in regard to specific needs.

My sister was here from November 2020 to February 2021. She'd had a fall in September, was discharged from hospital in November but didn't feel she was strong enough to go home so respite care was the answer. All the staff looked after her extremely well and encouraged her to manage what she could herself.
I was kept up to date with her well being once a week and could phone her whenever I liked. My sister decided she was able to return home and this she has done. The staff were brilliant in these very testing times, I could not fault them.
Reply from Kay Jerrams, Manager at Millway HouseThank you, Patricia, pleased to hear your sister is doing well at home.
Best wishes.

I was a resident at Millway House for one-week respite break, during which I was very satisfied with all aspects of my care. However, due to the late arrival of my negative Covid-19 test, I did not take part in any activities.
Reply from Kay Jerrams, Manager at Millway HouseThank you Esmee, pleased you were happy with your care. See you soon.

The care given to at Millway House has been emphasised by lockdown. The staff are devoted and always give their best. Residents are well fed and kept occupied to the best of the staff's ability. The facilities are bright and cheerful and the garden is superb. I only wish I could take her out for a coffee.
Reply from Kay Jerrams, Manager at Millway HouseThank you for your kind words. I will pass your comments to the staff.

The staff have made my mum feel very welcome when she arrived from the hospital, especially in these really hard times. They seem to understand mum's anxiety and are able to help and reassure her where necessary. There are many activities that mum is involved in which keeps her stimulated.
It is very
reassuring to know that mum is safe. A massive thank you to all the staff!

My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012. We had required a live-in carer since April 2015. In January of this year, he was repeatedly getting out of bed during the night. We had a warning buzzer and the doctor recommended respite. The first week he was at Millway House he enjoyed the stimulation
the activities provided and the company of other people. In the second week, he succumbed to the chest infection which was rife. The family had agreed that my husband would become a permanent resident at Millway House but he only survived for two days after the initial fortnight. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and as far as I could tell, looked after my husband very well.

My father quickly settled in and felt well cared for. All the staff take an interest in him and are kind and friendly. Occasionally agency staff are less well informed as to the level of help required. Although there are a number of activities offered, they unfortunately rarely appeal to my father,
who happens to be more interested in classical music, theatre and nature - about which he is knowledgeable but we realise that it would be difficult to satisfy these interests very often. However, he appreciates the chapel services and particularly enjoyed the visiting school children singing carols, and theatre groups.

We selected Millway House Nursing Home because as soon as we went in, it felt warm and caring. The staff are all truly amazing, very professional, caring and in tune with my father's needs. They go the extra mile to ensure that my father has the little things that make a difference. We are indebted
to the staff for their support during a very difficult time, and we feel very comfortable knowing we can leave our father in their capable hands.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.690)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.690) out of 10 for Millway House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.690 for Millway House is calculated as follows: ( (271 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 364 Ratings = 4.69
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millway House is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
