We are so pleased as a family that our mum is living and being looked after at Millway House. She came to them as a very poorly lady and they have taken such good care of her in these times we find ourselves in away from our families. Mum looks amazing and we can't thank you enough for your patience and understanding.

Reply from Kay Jerrams, Manager at Millway House

Thank you Lynnette for your kind words. We are looking forward to having all our lovely relatives back in the home in the future.

Since Sears Healthcare purchased Millway House an extensive program of refurbishment has taken place to improve the comfort and amenities for the residents. The resident's facilities have been improved and brought into the modern world. I found the introduction of a coffee lounge a relaxing way to visit when we were able to enter the building. Over the Covid period, the staff have excelled and maintained a safe and professional approach to visiting when possible. The provision of the gazebo and breakout rooms are ideal for visits and having those special moments with my mother.
Having issued iPads to all care staff, the client feedback has improved greatly and also the ability to increase staff training in conjunction with team building.

Over a very tough year, I am very pleased Mum thinks of Millway House as home. The staff have been imaginative over the last year keeping residents amused and entertained the best way they could with the restrictions that were imposed.

Every single member of the care home staff were fantastic. Every person I spoke with always tried their best to help. In my father's words "the staff here are amazing". They made what was a very difficult time for my family a lot easier. Could not recommend enough. Thank you again.

Review from Patricia S (Sister of Resident) published on 24 March 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister was here from November 2020 to February 2021. She'd had a fall in September, was discharged from hospital in November but didn't feel she was strong enough to go home so respite care was the answer. All the staff looked after her extremely well and encouraged her to manage what she could herself. I was kept up to date with her well being once a week and could phone her whenever I liked. My sister decided she was able to return home and this she has done. The staff were brilliant in these very testing times, I could not fault them.

I was a resident at Millway House for one-week respite break, during which I was very satisfied with all aspects of my care. However, due to the late arrival of my negative Covid-19 test, I did not take part in any activities.

The care given to at Millway House has been emphasised by lockdown. The staff are devoted and always give their best. Residents are well fed and kept occupied to the best of the staff's ability. The facilities are bright and cheerful and the garden is superb. I only wish I could take her out for a coffee.

The staff have made my mum feel very welcome when she arrived from the hospital, especially in these really hard times. They seem to understand mum's anxiety and are able to help and reassure her where necessary. There are many activities that mum is involved in which keeps her stimulated.

It is very reassuring to know that mum is safe. A massive thank you to all the staff!

My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012. We had required a live-in carer since April 2015. In January of this year, he was repeatedly getting out of bed during the night. We had a warning buzzer and the doctor recommended respite. The first week he was at Millway House he enjoyed the stimulation the activities provided and the company of other people. In the second week, he succumbed to the chest infection which was rife. The family had agreed that my husband would become a permanent resident at Millway House but he only survived for two days after the initial fortnight. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and as far as I could tell, looked after my husband very well.

We selected Millway House Nursing Home because as soon as we went in, it felt warm and caring. The staff are all truly amazing, very professional, caring and in tune with my father's needs. They go the extra mile to ensure that my father has the little things that make a difference. We are indebted to the staff for their support during a very difficult time, and we feel very comfortable knowing we can leave our father in their capable hands.

My father quickly settled in and felt well cared for. All the staff take an interest in him and are kind and friendly. Occasionally agency staff are less well informed as to the level of help required. Although there are a number of activities offered, they unfortunately rarely appeal to my father, who happens to be more interested in classical music, theatre and nature - about which he is knowledgeable but we realise that it would be difficult to satisfy these interests very often. However, he appreciates the chapel services and particularly enjoyed the visiting school children singing carols, and theatre groups.
