My mother is now approaching her 98th birthday having lived at Oak Lodge for 4 years. I think that this is a testament to the excellent care and also the wonderful activities that my mother receives. We have watched singers, musical bands, handled birds such as owls and seen pat dogs. I feel all this has helped my mother keep mentally active which is so important as she can no longer walk. I can thoroughly recommend Oak Lodge.

My mother has been a resident for several years and I have been constantly impressed by the standard at Oak Lodge. There are plenty of varied activities, outside performers and events throughout the year with a variety of decorations relevant to the season. The residents' meeting ensures constant feedback. Of course, the setting and buildings are beautiful but it is always the staff that make it so good. Everyone is helpful and friendly and seem unhurried and cheerful. The leadership is excellent and they are always available to talk to, whether a friendly chat on visits or more personal discussions, carried out discreetly and sympathetically. There appear to be frequent training courses: I recently bumped into a member of staff who was really enthusiastic about the nutrition lecture she had just attended.

I cannot recommend Oak Lodge highly enough. My mother has now been there for 6 months and received the very best of care, consideration and kindness from all the managment and staff. In particular, the activities are well planned with lots of interaction as well as visiting entertainment and external trips.

It feels more like a boutique hotel than a care home. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for any of the carers or management.

Mum had a difficult Christmas and New Year period when she stopped being interested in food. As we are now at the end of January mum seems to have turned the corner and a little bit of her previous disposition is returning. The staff worked hard with mum with gentle persuasion, patience and good humour to rally her around from this difficult time

Oak Lodge is like a second home and a second family. Once the initial changes in circumstances settle down, Oak Lodge becomes the home from home. The staff are very caring and professional and do everything to ensure the resident and their families are very well informed and helped with any of their requirements. They really are so friendly and take their positions very seriously, nothing is too much trouble. Entertainment, outings, services eg hairdresser, chiropodist, barber and food requirements are excellent.

I came to Oak Lodge for respite care after a back operation. I was very apprehensive of being on my own in a strange place, but I was made very welcome and have had a very pleasant stay here for the last five weeks. The staff are very friendly and are helping me with my recovery. Oak Lodge is a very bright and open place and the standards in all respects are very high. Once again I would like to express my appreciation and many thanks to all the staff who have made my stay thoroughly enjoyable. I shall miss the company.

Every time I visit Mum the carers and all staff are always helpful and friendly.

Any problems are sorted straight away and if Mum is worrying about anything this is dealt with immediately and followed through.

Any health problems I am always notified about it by phone.

A very clean, friendly, safe at Oak Lodge with plenty of activities and good food. The rooms are spacious enough to make it comfortable for the residents. The corridors are wide enabling easy movement. The location is quiet with no traffic allowing outside activities during the warmer months. Oakley Hall is within walking distance and offers coffee mornings etc. Overall a very secure place with plenty of competent nursing and care staff. The management always keeps us informed if there are any issues.

I have found the home and staff to be hardworking and caring, almost without exception.
I have also got to know many of the residents, who again seem to be very happy at Oak Lodge.

It should also be said that great effort is made to keep everyone entertained and the atmosphere positive in sometimes difficult circumstances.

The first thing I noticed when entering Oak Lodge was that everybody smiled and welcomed us. It was most reassuring for both my husband and myself after several dramatic months in hospital. The staff are very kind and caring and my husband has settled in well. All staff contribute in making residents lives, as happy and comfortable as possible.

Set in beautiful countryside it is a joy to visit with exceptionally friendly staff who always provide a warm welcome. All the staff take the time to get to know the residents, and their family, as individuals and know their personal needs, likes and dislikes.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable environment with lounge areas, dining room activity rooms as well as quieter areas to sit for a cup of tea and a chat.

Extremely spacious rooms which residents are able to add their own personal pictures, furniture and possessions giving a warm homely feel.

The staff at Oak Lodge have done a very good job of caring for my mum over the last 2 years. They have monitored her medical problems well and changed her medication when necessary.
They provide varied activities morning and afternoon 7 days a week which she can join in if she wants to. These help to keep her occupied in a meaningful way.
The home is maintained well and the maintenance manager responds very quickly whenever I mention a problem with Mum's room.
Staff do a lovely job of displaying photos of the residents around the home and of decorating the home with a particular theme e.g. Autumn. Both help to give interest and topics of conversation.

It is a really nice place to visit because there are so many places you can sit and chat, outside and in. I often take Mum out for a walk in her wheelchair in the country estate where the home is located, something we both enjoy. There is also a family room we have used often to have a meal and gather together as a family which Mum has really enjoyed

My mother who has just died age 102 had been at this home for five years, initially when it was located at the side of the four-star Oakley Hall hotel and then transferred to the purpose-built/adapted Oak Lodge in the estate grounds.

The care has been exemplary the facilities are very good, constantly changing themes/activities to provide stimulation for the residents. All the staff form a superb team, catering to a very high standard. Excellent nursing/GP care. Sensitive end of life care.

As always, lots of attention to detail has gone into transforming the interior and exterior of Oak Lodge for the festive season. Plenty of Christmas activities on offer as always and a genuine feeling of care and compassion. One would forget these residents have health issues, as the care provided is given very professionally and respectfully. The Christmas raffle as always was very popular and the visit of a marching band to lift the spirits and provoke memories of days gone by. Other activities are provided daily throughout the year, but Christmas is always a poignant time of year, to see my Mum being cared for and enjoying these activities is wonderful. It really does feel like a special place to be. My family and I have always been made to feel very welcome and involved, as does everyone we have met here.
