In the 3+ years my partner was at Steep House,I only have praise for the staff that are there to care for the residents. All his needs were catered for, and he was always happy, unlike the previous care home he was in.The staff always welcomed us, and they always had a smile. The garden is a nice place to sit with your loved one if they are able to go outside to get some fresh air. I would recommend anyone to select this care home for a loved one.
My Mum sadly passed away recently but had spent the last eight years at Steep House. As a family we are so thankful for the care she received from all the wonderful staff. It was such a relief to know Mum was safe, well cared for, served delicious meals and enjoyed fantastic entertainment. We were always made very welcome too.
Mum stayed at Steep house from Feb 25 to Jan 26 and her care, food and activities were exemplary. At times Mum had such a busy schedule with activities that stimulated not just here day to day thought but enabled her to re-connect with her memories. Steep house has almost everything you could want, staff that really care and an environment that's varied with outside space that stimulates the senses with a well laid out and thoughtfully planted garden. Thanks to all the staff at Steep house, we hope if/when we need somewhere like Steep House it will still be there and just as good.
For the first time in a long time she has been animated and more involved in her environment.
We're delighted with how well your mum is doing with us, and how she's adapted to her new home. It's a pleasure to have her with us, and if there is ever anything more we can do to support her, or you, please just let us know.
Throughout his time at Steep House Dad had been very happy and made it his want to interact will the staff, they also enjoyed his company, sharp mind and great sense of humour.
Throughout his final weeks the staff regularly popped their heads around the door to chat with Dad. All were fantastic but a special thanks to the team on the medical side. We as a family can't thank the staff for the way they treated Dad and the dignity he was shown during his passing away.
Mum continues to reside at Steep, so we will see all the staff as we continue to visit. A huge thank you to all for the kindness shown to both our parents.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt reflection on your father's time at Steep House. Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your dad, it was a privilege to care for him. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.
My Step Dad went to Steep House after a fall and a few weeks in hospital. He was well cared for a looked after by all staff who were very attentive and helpful to him and his individual needs. The carers were great in keeping him amused with different events in the lounge. The ladies were always very helpful on reception and the (Manager and Deputy) were always very helpful. He has now been moved to Devon to be near me and other family members. Staff at Steep House ensured that the move went smoothly. Many thanks to you all - it was great to know he was in safe hands and being well looked after.

My dad came to Steep House when his health was deteriorating and sadly he was only there for just over a month before he passed away. My brother and I both felt that he could not have been in a better place. The staff were all amazing - so kind and caring. Everyone from the Care Home Manager and Deputy, the nurses, receptionist, carers and cleaners - absolutely everyone was so kind to our family when we were going through such a difficult time. My dad was always clean, well-dressed and groomed. The nurses and carers were excellent and it was such a relief to know that when we weren't there he was in such safe hands. I highly recommend Steep House - it's a really special place.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and generous review during what must still be a difficult time. We're truly grateful for your kind words about the care your dad received at Steep House. It means a great deal to the whole team to know that he was comfortable and well looked after, and that your family felt supported throughout. Your recommendation is deeply appreciated.
My wife was a resident for a short period for respite care for a month last year, an experience she thoroughly enjoyed. Her health improved greatly over that period, and was able to return home and enjoy a normal life. Sadly, her health deteriorated later in the year, and she once again needed respite care initially, which became full time nursing care. The care she received I can only say was first class. She was treated with kindness and patience at all times. Had a good rapport with all the staff and although sadly passing away in the new year, the last few months of her life were very happy ones. I must say as a visitor, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there aswell. The management and staff are truly a credit to you, and if anyone asks me about a possible stay at Steep House, I would recommend it without reservation. It's a happy caring place, and if I should need care in the future, this is where I'm going.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and touching reflection. It means so much to the team at Steep House to know your wife felt happy, cared for, and supported throughout her time with us. We're honoured to have been part of her journey and to have made a difference in those final months. Your words will be deeply appreciated by everyone here, and your recommendation is truly humbling.
Whenever I visited and staff came to check on my Uncle they always used his name and I was always offered something to drink . The room always smelled clean , the bed sheets and his clothes kept fresh and clean . Nothing was too much trouble if my uncle needed something . The interest in food and the wonderful chef were a great addition to my Uncles life lived at Steep House. The reception team were always welcoming and helpful , all the staff would make eye contact and give a smile .
Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review of Steep House. It's lovely to hear how well your uncle was cared for and that the little touches-from the warm welcome to the fresh surroundings-made a difference. Your kind words about the team, and especially the chef, will mean a lot to everyone here. We're so pleased he felt truly at home.
In February my wife's dementia came to the point when she could no longer be cared for at home and the decision was made to seek a place at Steep House for her future care. We found all the staff to be friendly, cheerful and caring and she soon settled in. Within a few weeks she withdrew to her room, which she liked, and was soon to be retired to her bed all the time. She was very happy with the care, loved the staff, and was made as comfortable as possible right until the very end. Thank you to all the staff for making her final days as enjoyable as you could.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and moving account. It means so much to everyone at Steep House to know your wife felt cared for and comfortable in her final days. We're truly grateful for your kind words about the team, and we're honoured to have been part of her journey. Wishing you and your family strength and peace.
I would highly recommend this nursing home. The team are caring, attentive and always go the extra mile for my Dad. He feels respected, safe and listened to. My Dad also enjoys the food and likes the environment.
Thank you for your lovely feedback about Steep House. We're so pleased to hear your dad feels safe, respected, and well looked after-that's exactly what we aim for every day. It's also wonderful to know he's enjoying the meals and settling into the environment. Your recommendation means a great deal to the whole team.
Excellent care, very kind, charming staff who are very competent and helpful. Always clean and tidy. Very competent registered nurses with good medical knowledge.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear that you've recognised the excellent care and dedication of our team at Steep House. It means a great deal to us that you appreciate the kindness, competence and professionalism of our staff, as well as the clean and welcoming environment we strive to maintain. Your kind words are truly appreciated by us all.
I would like to thank all the staff at Steep House for the care of my father. I cannot thank you enough for making me feel at peace with Dad in your care, he was always clean and happy, and the staff were amazing and always happy and welcoming from the receptionist to the doctors, managers, and especially the lovely Nurses who work so hard, the standards are very high, and it is good to see there was no change of staff in the 14 months my dad was there which says a happy team and treated really well, they are like one big amazing family. Would highly recommend this Care Home to anyone. Many, many thanks.
I cannot thank the staff of Steep House enough for their tireless care, for their dedication, warmth, their unfailing humour, and for the genuine happiness they brought to Mum in her final years. The compassion, kindness, and understanding she received throughout her four-year residency at Steep House were exemplary. There is such love here. In her final months and weeks, every aspect of Mum's end-of-life care was managed with great sensitivity. Her sad passing was peaceful and dignified. I am so grateful to every single member of the Steep House staff. From the bottom of my heart: thank you so much.

A massive thank you to all the staff at Steep House for looking after my late mum. From reception to housekeeping, carers to nurses, activity team, and managers, they were so kind to my mum, and to me. The amazing level of care given was more than we could have asked for. There was always laughter and a listening ear. It is not an all-singing, all-dancing nursing home, it doesn't need to be, because it is full of kindness, laughter and compassion. I would recommend Steep House without hesitation.

Steep House is a wonderful setting and the level of care was equally wonderful. Happy, polite and attentive staff cared for my 92-year-old father's every need. Thank you all so much.

From the time he arrived until his sad passing, he was shown an amazing level of care that we cannot fault in any way.
We couldn't have asked for him to be treated any better, and never had any concerns about the level of care he received and the dignity he was shown right up till the end.
Thank you!

I would like to say Steep House staff were so kind & caring towards my father-in-law. They made a very difficult time for us, easier to bear, knowing he was being so well looked after. And they couldn't have done more when the end of his life drew near. They really showed such care & kindness. Their compassion was everything!

My Dad has spent his last 16 months in Steep House. It was difficult for the family to see him go into a care home due to his dementia but he could not have been placed into better hands and has been looked after so well right up to the end. The whole team have provided such caring and professional support. In his final days, they could not have done more to support my family and went out of their way to help us all. Friendly greetings, wonderful activities, great food and the best housekeeping. They are one amazing team of people who could not do enough for us and we are so grateful that Dad was placed with you. I would highly recommend this home to other any other families in our situation.

Meet the Team (1)

I began my career as a nurse before moving into management, combining practical experience in health and social care with a strategic approach to leadership.
At Steep House, my focus is on delivering high-quality, personalised care, working closely with residents, their families, and friends to build a supportive community. The dedication and compassion of our team make me incredibly proud to be the Manager here.
I would describe myself as honest, cheerful, and genuinely caring. My goal is to ensure residents feel valued, happy, and fulfilled in their daily lives. Taking time to listen to their needs and making them smile is, to me, the most rewarding part of this role. I firmly believe every resident should have the chance to live their life according to their own wishes, and I am committed to supporting them in this journey.
Leading our team is a privilege and a responsibility I take to heart. Together, we create a warm, welcoming environment that feels like home, where every resident receives the respect, attention, and individualised care they truly deserve.
