It does not seem enough just to say the staff are very caring - the care team, admin team and house maintenance team, are in fact part of Mum's extended family as she sees it. Mum was obviously scared at first, and unsettled moving into her room, surrounded by residents in the home, with their varying
degrees of health both mental and physical. With Dementia, she was confused, it was not easy to accept. It would be fair to say she took a few months to settle fully, and start to trust and rely on the teams, she always was and still is, a cautious woman. After 18-months since Mum went to Steep House, and with some of the most trying and dangerous months still with us nationally, I feel that Mum is in a 'safe pair of hands' with Steep. I could not wish for her to be in a better place; it gives my sister and me peace of mind. I talk with the staff regularly when calling Mum, and never have any reason to criticise any of them, only be thankful for their affection for their residents.

When mum first went to live at Steep it was a difficult time for her and the family. Staff at Steep reassured us and always answered and dealt with our concerns. Thankfully although it took some time, Mum settled and became used to the new way of living with weekly visits from myself and visits from
my Brother. Due to covid of course, life has changed again for Mum. The staff have worked so hard to keep residents safe making sure they are happy and meeting their needs which at times I am sure has not been easy. Now we can book our slot and have a one hour visit which is lovely, I can see that mum is well cared for.

Faced with the challenge of placing our dear lifetime friend into much-needed care, she selected Steep House. Despite an unsurprising lack of desire to be in any form of care, both she and I have been delighted with the care and attention she has received at Steep House. It seems nothing is too much

I cannot fault the care given to my mother by the staff at Steep House, and would highly recommend it.
There is a very relaxed, friendly and homely atmosphere, whilst it is obvious that the staff are very knowledgeable, capable and well trained.
My mother has been at Steep House for over two years
now and, despite her advanced dementia and other serious health problems, she has a very obvious close bond with the staff looking after her. Which to my mind speaks volumes about the quality of care she receives.
She enjoys the regular sing songs and quizzes that the staff have still managed to organise despite the limitations of lockdown. The activities team provide a varied selection of activities tailored to the abilities and preferences of the residents. There always seems to be something going on.
Finally, I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the selfless care they have provided throughout the current crisis, and I hope that the group significantly rewards them!

Steep House looked after my Mum throughout her final few months and did so with care, compassion and dignity. Mum was at Steep House Nursing Home for over 6 years and the care she received was brilliant. They understood her needs and nothing was ever too much for them. They always made us feel welcome as a family and never placed any restrictions on visiting times until Covid-19 came along. During the Covid-19
period, they did everything possible to protect their residents also ensuring that the relatives were updated and providing facetime calls where possible. Sadly my Mum became unwell earlier in September and unfortunately passed away at the age of 95. Right up until she passed they were constantly fighting for her, it was so reassuring. Steep House was exceptional, the care and love given to Mum were so good and they also looked after us allowing us to be with Mum when she passed away but still maintaining a safe secure environment so as not to put other residents at risk.
I cannot thank Steep House management and staff enough for the love and care they have given my Mum.

Both my parents were cared for by Steep House towards the end of their lives this year. Their care was excellent. Given that they were unable to end their days in their own home, I could not have wished for a better experience, both for them and their close relatives than that provided by Steep House.

The staff at Steep House were consistently kind, cheerful and attentive to our mother in her declining months and days. Changes in her health were addressed promptly and reported to us. They were also unfailingly welcoming, and kind to our father, my brother and myself on our visits. Whenever we phoned,
whoever answered would make the effort to find our mother wherever she was in the building so we could speak to her. The managers were always approachable and available to talk to. The atmosphere there was made to feel as much as possible like a family home rather than an institution, with pleasant decor, regular events and entertainments, as well as photos and notices attractively displayed.
After our mother passed away, the same quality of care was provided to our father when his health suffered a sudden decline.
I will always remember Steep House and its staff with great fondness; I regard them all as heroes, and cannot thank them enough.

They have come together as they always do as a team; covering every aspect of work in the home supporting and caring for all residents.

The ratings were good and I saw good reviews. I looked no further and pleased that I choose this place for dad’s home until he passed.
Visitors can call at any time, which gives you a sense of security that there is nothing to hide. There is a good security system to prevent unknown visitors walking
in, and it is secure to prevent residents who may no longer be aware, from wondering out.
It is clean and hygienic, being cleaned every day.
The food is good and a varied menu which can be changed to suit the individual even if it is at the last minute. You can walk past the kitchen and talk to the staff and see the conditions.
The staff are all lovely and caring and supportive of family. I have seen some difficult situations where a resident becomes upset or angry because they may have dementia etc, the care staff continue to be kindly spoken, gentle and encouraging even if they get verbally abused.
I was kept informed and was able to be with my dad there, at his last moments.

All departments of the home work together to give the best care possible. In the case of our Aunt, the care given to her is fantastic, all staff have shown great care coping with every aspect of her care.

In the few months that Dad was in Steep House, we found the staff to be cheerful, friendly and considerate. They work extremely hard, caring for people with a high level of dependency and all the staff knew Dad by name and treated him with respect and compassion.
Dad loved the outdoors and found
it difficult that he could no longer go for walks but sitting out in the beautiful gardens made him happy again. We would like to thank the caretaker/handyman for all his efforts in creating such a wonderful outdoor space for the residents to enjoy, as well as his sense of humour when chatting to Dad. It really lifted his spirits.
Thank you to everyone at Steep House for caring for him so well and for the support you gave my sister on her daily visits too.

All staff with whom we have come into contact were caring, compassionate, polite and extremely hard working. Medical staff explain problems clearly and are very quick to pick up on potential issues. Care staff deserve medals. They are human, caring, cheerful, despite difficult situations. Management,
facility personnel etc all very pleasant, helpful, professional and know each resident by name. Everyone does their best to make residents happy and to occupy them. Activities are fun and stimulating. I always felt my Dad was treated with respect and care.

My mother died in March at 95 years following a long spell of vascular dementia. No situation is perfect but Steep House proved to be a caring, cheerful, happy place with staff that showed my mother love, respect and sympathy. A good balance of carers and medical staff that kept me up to date and fully
appraised of my mother's condition.

My mother has been at Steep House for 10 months. When she was first admitted, the family was very stressed. I don't live in the UK and have come for a visit. I must say all the staff work very hard and as a team. I take my hat off to them.
My mum seems quite settled.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Steep House for just over two years. During that time she was treated with unfailing kindness by all members of staff. The residents are kept occupied with lots of activities and the food is freshly cooked on the premises. All areas of the house are kept clean and

I have been working with the Future Care Group since 2014. I trained and qualified as a nurse before moving to management. With my background in management & health and social care, I have worked at strategic levels to ensure that high standard of care is delivered across our home. I work closely with residents’ family and friends as well as ensure that care is delivered on an individualised level. I enjoy working at Steep House in particular because the team we have is so dedicated and caring which makes me a proud Manager.


I describe myself as honest, cheerful, caring and I take pride in making the residents at Steep House happy. I enjoy listening to residents’ needs and seeing them smile and laugh is the most rewarding part of my job! I take pride in leading the team. I have a strong conviction that each resident should have the opportunity to live their life as they wish to.

I chose to be a team member because of a friendly and caring nature of the home. I have quality and leadership skills; I am highly focused on providing the best possible care for my residents. I pride myself on my professionalism and leading my nursing and health care Assistant team in carrying out every duty to the highest standards.


I am a Qualified Nurse with 8 years of experience in hospital and Nursing home settings. I started my career with LRH as a nurse in 2011 and was promoted as the head of care in 2015.


The best part of my role is keeping my residents happy, safe and comfortable.


My role is important because my residents and their families along with staff know that I am there to help and support them when they need it and I always go that extra mile to make them happy.


In my spare time I like to read, take care of a garden and spend time with my family.

I was also serving in the Army for 17 years. My last eight years were spent on Thorney Island where I gained most of my experience in all sorts of maintenance. I am a very caring and hardworking person, who will give 100% on a daily basis to ensure that our residents are in a safe and compliant environment.

I started working in the care industry 8 years ago, looking after people in their own homes. I found that the part of the job I enjoyed most was the interactions with the elderly. I worked as a carer at Steep House for a couple of years before taking on Lifestyle Lead’s role. Being a Lifestyle Lead allows me to spend time talking and interacting with the residents, providing them with as much variety and entertainment in their daily lives as possible, as well as giving them someone to talk to when they need it.


My family and I live at a local school where my husband teaches. I have two children aged 19 and 22 and two small dogs. I love music (I play piano and guitar), doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

I thoroughly enjoy engaging with residents and encouraging them with a range of activities available at Steep House. Being a team member, allows me to utilise my fantastic team's strengths and work together to improve residents' time here.


One of the favourite parts of my role is when a resident has enjoyed an activity or has surprised themselves by engaging in an activity.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Before joining the Steep family in 2009, I worked in an Asian restaurant, where I acquired valuable knowledge and skills that I now bring to my role here.


I find immense joy in working with our residents, ensuring they receive meals tailored to their preferences and supporting them in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My dedication extends beyond the kitchen, and at home, I’m kept busy by my wonderful husband and three children—a daughter and twin boys.


Food holds a special place in my heart, and I’m passionate about it both personally and professionally. In my free time, I indulge in my love for baking and creating delicious Asian dishes. Interestingly, I also learned to cook English dishes from my talented mother-in-law.


I’m excited to be a part of the Steep team and contribute to the well-being of our residents through my love for food and culinary expertise. Let’s create memorable dining experiences together!

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I have been working at Steep House for 10 years. I started as a Housekeeper and I got promoted to Head of Housekeeping in 2019.


The best part of my role is making sure the home is kept clean.


My role is important because I oversee the smooth running of the housekeeping and laundry departments. I also make sure our residents live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment.


We have had many compliments on how nice the home looks and how good it smells. I take great pride in my job as it is very important the residents feel that their home is kept clean and safe.
