My father spent the last two years of his life at Steep House where the level of care, comfort and companionship he enjoyed made these two happy years for him. The support and kindness afforded to us, his family, by the staff at Steep House upon his death was outstanding, extremely touching and tremendously
supportive. We remain so very grateful to everybody at Steep House for making father's last years comfortable and cheerful.

Staff were excellent, kind, friendly and also willing to help and very understanding. Throughout my stay, I was happy, relaxed and well cared for.
The only "blip" was the cleanliness of my room: After I had moved in, the floor was not cleaned all the way under the bed. Rubbish behind bedside cabinet
when I arrived - left. Bathroom sink and toilet were not cleaned except once. Shelf under sink never cleaned. Urinal never cleaned. Old stale hard urine on the bottom.

From the moment we saw Steep House Nursing Home we decided it was the best nursing home we had seen in the area. The welcome was extremely friendly and helpful. My father settled in quickly and great appreciated the party and cake laid on for his birthday the day after.
He preferred to remain in his
own room, therefore, did not use all the facilities hence my grading. He was beautifully looked after and cared for. My only sadness was that on the day he died they only rang our mobile numbers and not the landlines which meant we only go there 15 minutes after he died. A call on the landline would have ensured that we would have got there in time.

My husband passed away ten days ago after spending fifteen months in Steep House. He was always happy and well cared for. We cannot thank the staff enough for the care given to him. All of the staff were kind, courteous and caring despite the difficult job they have to do. Nothing was ever too much
trouble which meant a lot to us. The staff always had a smile on their face and were always welcoming. Should I ever need to be cared for this would be my choice.

I can not express enough how kind, caring, helpful, nothing was too much trouble, every department was so good, and I mean EVERY department, to the patient and the next of kind, the staff were brilliant.
The rooms were well decorated, and it also helped being able to take your own possessions. It
was nice having a kitchen for the family going to visit to make tea and coffee. I am not surprised they won an award for 2016. I would recommend them to anyone.

I found that the care and attention given to my father was excellent. The level of attention to detail and the personal touch of all the staff is superb, whether that be for nursing care, meals, activities or general administration. The facilities, cleanliness and ambience of the home are also excellent.

My mother-in-law came to stay here from last summer. She was made to feel welcome from day one, and was amazed by how quickly everyone recognised her and referred to her by her first name. As a family we found the management team had an open door policy and were always available when needed. The reception
area, was also welcoming as was the receptionist. The carers were wonderful, always willing to help as were the nursing staff. Mum found out everyone from the kitchen staff, house cleaning, maintenance and especially activity team quickly accepted her which helped her settle better than we expected. The team helped make mum's time here one that we as a family will always grateful.

My father was at Steep House Nursing Home for nearly two years and was wonderfully cared for until his passing. He was treated with such care and dignity in his final days and great respect was shown to us his family.

My mother was a resident of Steep House form October 2011 until her death in January 2016. She suffered from dementia. She received excellent care, love and support at Steep House, as did I her daughter and other members of the family. I always felt my mother was valued, treated kindly and gently. The
food as good, fresh and varied and her room was always clean and orderly. The nursing care particularly in her final days was really very good. No home is perfect, it's not like ones own home but Steep House really looked after my mother very well.

My wife has been resident in Steep House since September 2014. I am a frequent visitor there. I consider the care she is given is outstanding. I sense the staff have genuine concern for the well being of residents. My wife is clearly treated with dignity understanding and patience as an individual person
with her own particular needs and personality. I find the atmosphere (both literally and metaphorically)) pleasant and welcoming and the staff are remarkably good humoured and cheerful. I have confidence in their work together as a team, cleaners, carers, office staff and manager alike. I am fortunate in having peace of mind that my wife is being well treated there.

My husband was at Steep House for 2 years and 3 months during that time to his demise on the 3rd of January 2016. He had known such kindness, professionalism, care, food and general welfare.
Steep House is exceptional from the kitchen to the manager. The staff support the home with an excellent manner
and cannot be faulted. My husband was so well cared for, I thoroughly recommend this home and wish I could do or say more to extol it.

I have been working with the Future Care Group since 2014. I trained and qualified as a nurse before moving to management. With my background in management & health and social care, I have worked at strategic levels to ensure that high standard of care is delivered across our home. I work closely with residents’ family and friends as well as ensure that care is delivered on an individualised level. I enjoy working at Steep House in particular because the team we have is so dedicated and caring which makes me a proud Manager.


I describe myself as honest, cheerful, caring and I take pride in making the residents at Steep House happy. I enjoy listening to residents’ needs and seeing them smile and laugh is the most rewarding part of my job! I take pride in leading the team. I have a strong conviction that each resident should have the opportunity to live their life as they wish to.

I chose to be a team member because of a friendly and caring nature of the home. I have quality and leadership skills; I am highly focused on providing the best possible care for my residents. I pride myself on my professionalism and leading my nursing and health care Assistant team in carrying out every duty to the highest standards.


I am a Qualified Nurse with 8 years of experience in hospital and Nursing home settings. I started my career with LRH as a nurse in 2011 and was promoted as the head of care in 2015.


The best part of my role is keeping my residents happy, safe and comfortable.


My role is important because my residents and their families along with staff know that I am there to help and support them when they need it and I always go that extra mile to make them happy.


In my spare time I like to read, take care of a garden and spend time with my family.

I was also serving in the Army for 17 years. My last eight years were spent on Thorney Island where I gained most of my experience in all sorts of maintenance. I am a very caring and hardworking person, who will give 100% on a daily basis to ensure that our residents are in a safe and compliant environment.

Job Title: Lifestyles Lead Joined: 2022

I started working in the care industry 8 years ago, looking after people in their own homes. I found that the part of the job I enjoyed most was the interactions with the elderly. I worked as a carer at Steep House for a couple of years before taking on Lifestyle Lead’s role. Being a Lifestyle Lead allows me to spend time talking and interacting with the residents, providing them with as much variety and entertainment in their daily lives as possible, as well as giving them someone to talk to when they need it.


My family and I live at a local school where my husband teaches. I have two children aged 19 and 22 and two small dogs. I love music (I play piano and guitar), doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

I thoroughly enjoy engaging with residents and encouraging them with a range of activities available at Steep House. Being a team member, allows me to utilise my fantastic team's strengths and work together to improve residents' time here.


One of the favourite parts of my role is when a resident has enjoyed an activity or has surprised themselves by engaging in an activity.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Before joining the Steep family in 2009, I worked in an Asian restaurant, where I acquired valuable knowledge and skills that I now bring to my role here.


I find immense joy in working with our residents, ensuring they receive meals tailored to their preferences and supporting them in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My dedication extends beyond the kitchen, and at home, I’m kept busy by my wonderful husband and three children—a daughter and twin boys.


Food holds a special place in my heart, and I’m passionate about it both personally and professionally. In my free time, I indulge in my love for baking and creating delicious Asian dishes. Interestingly, I also learned to cook English dishes from my talented mother-in-law.


I’m excited to be a part of the Steep team and contribute to the well-being of our residents through my love for food and culinary expertise. Let’s create memorable dining experiences together!

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I have been working at Steep House for 10 years. I started as a Housekeeper and I got promoted to Head of Housekeeping in 2019.


The best part of my role is making sure the home is kept clean.


My role is important because I oversee the smooth running of the housekeeping and laundry departments. I also make sure our residents live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment.


We have had many compliments on how nice the home looks and how good it smells. I take great pride in my job as it is very important the residents feel that their home is kept clean and safe.
