Can only judge from first impressions. My wife has been a resident for just over 10 days. So far, good impressions. Staff keen to determine the best regime, namely food and sleeping needs.
Overall, the atmosphere is good-humoured and anxious to please.
Early days yet but optimistic my wife will be
comfortable as summer approaches.

My Mum has been a resident at Steep House now for 4 1/2 years. She is totally dependent on the staff for all her needs and we have always been grateful and extremely pleased with the care and support Mum has received, and thanks to the excellent nursing staff also, she has recovered from various illnesses
including pneumonia at the age of 95. The staff treat the residents with dignity and cheerfulness and it is a very welcoming home to visit day or night. Our Mum could not be in a better home with the wonderful staff.

My wife has been a resident in Steep House for about 2 and a half years and during this time, I have been extremely pleased I chose this home. I am pleased she is getting very good care and have never had reason to complain and minor issues are always dealt with quickly. Regular meetings for relatives
are held, we are always kept aware of changes and my issues are fully discussed. A dedicated member of staff arranges entertainment and makes a lot of effort to keep residents involved in activities and entertained.
Arrangements can be made to have a meal with a resident which I have found particularly nice on birthdays and at Christmas.

Although my twin sister was only in Steep House Nursing Home for a relatively short time before she died, it was clear to me that she was in an excellent home. The air of bustle and activity is very heartening to witness. There was always a pleasant face and it is noticeable how all residents were observed
with a friendly interaction. It was impressive to see designated activity staff 7 days a week. Well done.

My husband spent three years at Steep House. He enjoyed being part of the community.
The staff were caring and supportive of both my husband and our family.
In his last year, he could do little but the odd ice cream or milkshake gave him great pleasure.
Steep House's strength is it's well trained
staff, many young and lively, which adds to the atmosphere.
There was always a welcome, an offer of a cup of tea and help when needed.

My husband has been here since the end of June. I couldn't wish for him to be in a better place for care. All staff and management extremely polite, caring, helpful, friendly and considerate. He is settling and has made many friends with staff and other residents. Thank you Steep House.

In gratitude for the care that my mother was shown in her final six months and wish to enhance the benefits for the other residents of Steep House; I undertook a cycling challenge to raise funds for Dementia UK and to contribute towards the Steep House Residents Fund. This latter fund is used to provide
additional resources for the residents, with the current aim to purchase a Vecta Mobile Sensory Unit to stimulate residents suffering from Dementia.
My aim was to travel from the furthest point west to the furthest point east in Great Britain. I commenced my cycle ride at Lands End on the 13th May and over the course of the following six days finished my ride in Lowestoft after 532 miles on the road. Friends and family have supported my causes to the tune of £1100, which hopefully will go some way to aiding the good work that is undertaken by both organisations.

Mum moved to Steep Hose when her dementia made it impossible for me to care for her at home. She was very happy there, was well looked after. She was always clean and looked well cared for. Mum could be very difficult but they were very patient and kind. She developed a bad skin infection - the nursing
staff managed this extremely well. I am very happy with the way she was looked after. I cannot fault the way she was cared for in any way.

Care and attention unsurpassed.
As I was recovering from a hip replacement, I needed a fully accessible toilet with bards to lean on. I couldn't find one on the ground floor. As my room (chair much too low) was on the first floor I had to continually go upstairs to my toilet, which was ideal, if only
there were others like it.
The thoughtfulness and care of all the staff was amazing. They were always so willing and cheerful.

Originally when I came to Steep House it was only for a short stay but my partner who had a chest problem could not be taken care of at home so I decided to stay. I do not rue that decision. My partner passed away over 3 years ago, Lord rest her soul. I have made lots of friends in the staff and residents
so I'm, a very happy guy. As far as I am concerned I am a very well contented man.

I have been working with the Future Care Group since 2014. I trained and qualified as a nurse before moving to management. With my background in management & health and social care, I have worked at strategic levels to ensure that high standard of care is delivered across our home. I work closely with residents’ family and friends as well as ensure that care is delivered on an individualised level. I enjoy working at Steep House in particular because the team we have is so dedicated and caring which makes me a proud Manager.


I describe myself as honest, cheerful, caring and I take pride in making the residents at Steep House happy. I enjoy listening to residents’ needs and seeing them smile and laugh is the most rewarding part of my job! I take pride in leading the team. I have a strong conviction that each resident should have the opportunity to live their life as they wish to.

I chose to be a team member because of a friendly and caring nature of the home. I have quality and leadership skills; I am highly focused on providing the best possible care for my residents. I pride myself on my professionalism and leading my nursing and health care Assistant team in carrying out every duty to the highest standards.


I am a Qualified Nurse with 8 years of experience in hospital and Nursing home settings. I started my career with LRH as a nurse in 2011 and was promoted as the head of care in 2015.


The best part of my role is keeping my residents happy, safe and comfortable.


My role is important because my residents and their families along with staff know that I am there to help and support them when they need it and I always go that extra mile to make them happy.


In my spare time I like to read, take care of a garden and spend time with my family.

I started my career at Steep House in 2004 as a Maintenance Manager. Prior to taking up this role, I was a security manager for many years, where I gathered my knowledge of systems and compliance. I was also serving in the Army for 17 years. My last eight years were spent on Thorney Island where I gained most of my experience in all sorts of maintenance. I am a very caring and hardworking person, who will give 100% on a daily basis to ensure that our residents are in a safe and compliant environment.

I started working in the care industry 8 years ago, looking after people in their own homes. I found that the part of the job I enjoyed most was the interactions with the elderly. I worked as a carer at Steep House for a couple of years before taking on Lifestyle Lead’s role. Being a Lifestyle Lead allows me to spend time talking and interacting with the residents, providing them with as much variety and entertainment in their daily lives as possible, as well as giving them someone to talk to when they need it.


My family and I live at a local school where my husband teaches. I have two children aged 19 and 22 and two small dogs. I love music (I play piano and guitar), doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

I thoroughly enjoy engaging with residents and encouraging them with a range of activities available at Steep House. Being a team member, allows me to utilise my fantastic team's strengths and work together to improve residents' time here.


One of the favourite parts of my role is when a resident has enjoyed an activity or has surprised themselves by engaging in an activity.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Before joining the Steep family in 2009, I worked in an Asian restaurant, where I acquired valuable knowledge and skills that I now bring to my role here.


I find immense joy in working with our residents, ensuring they receive meals tailored to their preferences and supporting them in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My dedication extends beyond the kitchen, and at home, I’m kept busy by my wonderful husband and three children—a daughter and twin boys.


Food holds a special place in my heart, and I’m passionate about it both personally and professionally. In my free time, I indulge in my love for baking and creating delicious Asian dishes. Interestingly, I also learned to cook English dishes from my talented mother-in-law.


I’m excited to be a part of the Steep team and contribute to the well-being of our residents through my love for food and culinary expertise. Let’s create memorable dining experiences together!

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I have been working at Steep House for 10 years. I started as a Housekeeper and I got promoted to Head of Housekeeping in 2019.


The best part of my role is making sure the home is kept clean.


My role is important because I oversee the smooth running of the housekeeping and laundry departments. I also make sure our residents live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment.


We have had many compliments on how nice the home looks and how good it smells. I take great pride in my job as it is very important the residents feel that their home is kept clean and safe.
