My mum has not been here long, after being moved from a local care home. We moved to this care home because of the activities on offer several times a day, particularly the exercise class, which is not offered at other homes. I like the lounge area as I travel from Reading and it is nice to have somewhere
to sit with Mum. However, every table in the lounge area had leftover food and cups and drinks on them. They remained there for the entire 4-hour visit. It looked dirty for this reason alone. I also think that for £1400 per week we should not have to provide our own furniture unless we want to. I liked that staff came to find Mum to ensure she took medication and also the encouragement for patients to eat.

We are very open and transparent about our furniture policy, which residents can take into consideration before choosing Sunrise – this is because we want the resident to feel at home and be surrounded by familiar objects. This is especially important in reminiscence for our residents living with a dementia, where their furniture can offer comfort and reassurance.

Everyone is warm, welcoming and friendly. Dad is very well fed and cared for. I would be helpful for Dad to have more stability aids in the bathroom.


The activities on offer are enjoyable and not too demanding mentally. It is great to see friendships and interaction among the residents being encouraged.

I feel very confident that my mother is in safe hands. The staff are kind and the other residents have been welcoming. I'm sure my mum will make some good friends and be happy and stimulated here. I want to live here!

My relatives stayed here for 5 1/2 months and enjoyed their time at Sunrise. The staff are all very approachable and caring. The ladies on reception deserve a special mention. They go above and beyond with their welcome and helpfulness and lovely smiles! Entertainment is good, though very repetative
(I understand why) but maybe things could be livened up a bit? Accounts made several errors which needed correcting but overall an excellent care home.

A home with a lovely atmosphere, Staff are very aware of residents needs. The Assisted Living Co-ordinator is delightful and caring. Maintenance manager a valuable asset.

On first impressions, the home was warm, welcoming and had a friendly atmosphere. All the staff have been fantastic. The cleaner, carers, maintenance, managers - everybody has made my uncles move easy and stress-free.

Immaculate.
The food is exceptional.

My mother is quite content and happy at Sunrise. The home is clean, staff very good and food acceptable. Mum has plenty to do and is well cared for.

My parents moved into Sunrise in 2013, unfortunately, my mother passed away 3 months later. My father subsequently moved into a smaller apartment which is very comfortable and opens out onto beautiful gardens. The service and care is very good and we've only had a couple of minor hiccups with urine
bottles not being emptied every day/morning unless chased.
The site and facilities are really good and the food and drink excellent. Sunrise welcomes visitors and pets, most staff are very welcoming.

I arrived here from the hospital, my son had arranged a room for me. I had no idea where it was so I was pleasantly surprised to find it in such a nice place. Just across the road is a common, where I have been taken numerous times. The staff have always treated me well and I shall miss the home
when I leave at the end of the week.

My sister arrived 6 weeks ago, straight from the hospital. The staff we met on arrival made her feel very welcome and I visited her twice a week and stayed all day and dined with her at lunchtime. My opinion of the staff is excellent, they have been very nice and extremely helpful. My sister leaves
here at the end of the week and I believe she will miss the home a lot. A lovely place and it gave me and my husband a great peace of mind. Thank you all and well done.

I have never had a more helpful manager I like the way he manages the team and is willing and helpful with the slightest of things and he always leaves us with a smile it really makes this feel like our home. I am well looked after by everyone.

Job Title: General Manager

I have worked in the care sector for 20 years, 17 as a Registered Manager, going on to become Regional Manager for Southern Services for a further two years with the same Company.


To further my knowledge in care I then took a role as Operations Manager for a domiciliary care company which I very much enjoyed although I realised over a period of time that the interaction with families and residents was something I missed hugely so decided to go with my heart and back into a care home environment.


I am very focused on providing the highest standard of care here at Southampton Manor, an environment where the resident is at the centre of all we do and building on a sense of community for those who live, work and visit the home.

Job Title: Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

I have been here since September 2011, starting off as a care manager, I have always been involved in supporting our residents with their daily activities. I really enjoy coming to work each day knowing that I am able to make a difference to our residents lives nurturing their mind, body and spirit. I have always felt passionate to encourage equality within our community by finding the residents activities suited for their individual needs by adapting activities, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and talents.


We arrange various special events, entertainment and trips out of the community each week. We also encourage and support our residents to plan and organise their own activities whether it be hobbies or interests we will ensure a successful experience.

My journey as Dinging Service Coordinator here started in July 2019. I am very privileged to have joined a professional team of Chefs, Dining Staff, Catering staff, and the whole of the Bassett team, who have helped me to settle into my role.


In My 36 years as a Chef and Catering Manager I have never worked in the care sector. I am enjoying learning new skills every day. I have however worked in many different areas of the hospitality industry. Won awards, cooked and served for Royalty. I spent 12 years in Spain as Head Chef for a very busy Fish and Steak Restaurant, so with that in mind I hope to share my knowledge and experience to enhance what is already and exceptionally first class service. By providing an exclusive, comfortable environment for residents to enjoy high quality, fresh, flavoursome, nutritionally balanced food. I look forward to the challenge, and achieving all my goals here.

I joined the Signature at Bassett team in October 2019 as a Support Worker and quickly progressed within the home to a Covid Coordinator role and then successfully secured the role of Maintenance Coordinator. Prior to working with the adult care sector, I worked for local Government & Housing Associations in a variety of roles within the Housing and Homelessness sector.
