Allington Court is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, including nursing, residential, Parkinson's and short-stay care.

Everything is on one floor, and the building has a circular design. giving every room garden access and making it easier for residents to find their own way round. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

With the help of their loved ones, staff build a picture of their life story and their likes and dislikes. Staff can then personalise care and help them live the way they want to. Communication and engagement is a big part of life here, too. So, if your loved one finds it easier to use signs and symbols to communicate, the team are happy to use Makaton.

There’s always lots going on within the welcoming community. Activities are run seven days a week and frequently join neighbouring Bupa care home, Tenterden House (offering nursing and residential care), for a range of engaging events and the occasional themed meal.

We’re just off North Orbital Road on the way to the M25 and there’s lots of on-site parking. Lye Lane is the first left after the roundabout with the Shell garage and Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel on it. There’s also a local bus stop a 10-minute walk away.

My sister is a long-term resident at Allington Court. Since she moved in she has become calm and contended. I visit her at irregular intervals and always find her clean and appropriately dressed and looking forward to her next meal. Though these are pleasant gardens to stroll in I am finding it difficult
to persuade her to come outside. However, as the home offers a circuit of corridors around a certain garden she obtains some exercise walking to the sitting rooms or dining room.

Nowhere is perfect and we all have our own individual views as to how our loved ones need to be looked after. My mother’s dementia advanced relatively quickly and so it was hard to come to terms with as, no doubt, it always is. This care home though welcomed her in as an individual and has helped and
supported her in every way since she went into their care.
All staff seem attentive and helpful and, as her relatives, we have been welcomed to witness a number of very good events such as the recent Coronation, which was very well managed. As a discerning son I’m more than happy that my mum is being looked after, as best she can be at Allington Court. Thanks everyone.

Just feel like I would like to make sure that the activity team and staff at Allington Court got the praise that they deserve after what a wonderful coronation for the king they provided for not just residents but relatives too. Just overwhelming the amount of effort not just on the day but the build-up
with craft activities and residents being involved in all the above. We had a lovely day celebrating with them and on my visit today my relative is still talking about it which just makes us so happy. Well done to all, you make it so much easier knowing our family member is so happy and looked after, above and beyond standard, we are forever grateful.

My mum has been in Allington Court Care Home for the last 22 months, she needed 24-hour care and was hoisted as she couldn't walk or look after herself. Mum was very happy in the home, was out in the community every day joining in with the activities. The staff looked after her very well she was always
clean her clothes always were colour coordinated. I can't fault the staff, they looked after her very well, she was very happy there. Mum was always smiling, never moaned and I know she thought the world of all the carers. Well done to all the carers that looked after her. We are proud of you all. Sadly Mum passed away in the home two weeks ago but I know she was looked after until the end. Thank you all so much.

My experience at the home is always positive. I feel confident and reassured that Nan is in a home with lots of care, love and always feel that Nan is being given the best care for her needs. It feels like a family at the home and staff make it feel comfortable and if we ask for things, it's always
carried through. My family know that she is safe and cared for and we have peace of mind that she's here. We are glad we found this care home.

Generally, I find Allington Court to be a very good care home. My wife is always clean, tidy and well-dressed. The 'checking' procedures are excellent. The only problem I have (and have had it in the past 2/3 times as well) is contacting the staff member I want - ie I don't know who does several of
the jobs and how to contact them.

I live in Canada but have been in England for 2 weeks. My mum moved into Allington Court at the end of February, so I was curious to see where she has been living for the past 7 months. I cannot say enough good things about Mum's new home. I have visited her every day, so have met a lot of the staff
and seen different aspects of the home. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the home is kept very clean. As I return home tomorrow, I do feel confident that my mum is well looked after and most importantly is happy. Thank you Allington Court for making Mum's new home her happy place.

My wife has been placed in the home under temporary NHS health care suffering from Alzheimer's she is in need of total care in every respect including mobility. I have found that care to have been provided for her by the staff in a friendly manner, cheerfully with gentleness, kindness and a total respect
for her dignity. On my visits, I have been greeted in the same friendly manner and a willingness to discuss any issues with respect to her care.

I have had an amazing time. An example of the care and collaboration of the whole team was the Queen's jubilee party. Staff were out in the grounds doing bunting. All the staff took part. Relatives and visitors were invited to a magical day. All residents outside with escorts. A band played all day,
this included music for very young children to dance to West Indian dancing. I would recommend the staff, management, and the support staff for sharing this day with visitors.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room with good facilities. My wife seems to be happy there, though obviously would like to come home when possible. The location is good, with nice gardens and a secluded site.

I have been living in Allington Court Care Home for about 6 months now and I have always been well looked after in all respects. The activities are well provided for and especially over the Easter period with entertainment provided. I highly recommend the home to a family friend.

All the staff are helpful and supportive of my dad. I am unable to comment on some areas as my dad has not been in the home that long. The general atmosphere appears very pleasant and there is, as always, a steady supply of tea and delicious cakes!

Mum has been in Allington Court for about 6 months and is very happy here. The staff are all very friendly and have made her stay happy. It is peace of mind for my brother and I, as we know she is well cared for, even when we are unable to visit due to covid restrictions.

I can't complain - the care is very good. The staff are nice and friendly and caring. The carers at Allington Court are wonderful and the activity is good.
