Allington Court is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, including nursing, residential, Parkinson's and short-stay care.

Everything is on one floor, and the building has a circular design. giving every room garden access and making it easier for residents to find their own way round. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

With the help of their loved ones, staff build a picture of their life story and their likes and dislikes. Staff can then personalise care and help them live the way they want to. Communication and engagement is a big part of life here, too. So, if your loved one finds it easier to use signs and symbols to communicate, the team are happy to use Makaton.

There’s always lots going on within the welcoming community. Activities are run seven days a week and frequently join neighbouring Bupa care home, Tenterden House (offering nursing and residential care), for a range of engaging events and the occasional themed meal.

  • The home is open to admissions. The home is open to everyone no need for your loved one to have Bupa health insurance. We’re just off North Orbital Road on the way to the M25 and there’s lots of on-site parking. Lye Lane is the first left after the roundabout with the Shell garage and Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel on it. There’s also a local bus stop a 10-minute walk away.

My husband has early onset Alzheimers. He is very difficult at times. He has been at the home for almost 2 years. In all that time I have found all the staff to be kind, considerate and empathetic. He is well cared for. The home is clean, bright and modern. Food is home cooked. The nursing staff keep
me informed by phone of any incidents ie. A fall. The GP visits every week. They have a programme of activities and entertainers but my husband is unable to join in.

Mum was admitted to Allington Court as a patient on end of life care with Alzheimer's. Obviously, this was an incredibly stressful time but we were more than happy with the help and care offered by the staff at Allington. They were always kind and compassionate and I would not hesitate in recommending
this lovely, clean tidy home.

Very caring patient always available for visiting. Room always clean and available to be seen. Curtains and bed covers always changed frequently. When his wheelchair was damaged it was replaced. Patient escorted to the hospital when the catheter needed replacing. Clothes kept in good cleanliness and
order. Welcomed when we visited and almost invariably offered tea. Public rooms well kept and any spills dealt with rapidly. Rooms dressed suitably for the seasons. Decorated according to seasons and festivals. Patients with difficulties dealt with care.
