Allington Court is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, including nursing, residential, Parkinson's and short-stay care.

Everything is on one floor, and the building has a circular design. giving every room garden access and making it easier for residents to find their own way round. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

With the help of their loved ones, staff build a picture of their life story and their likes and dislikes. Staff can then personalise care and help them live the way they want to. Communication and engagement is a big part of life here, too. So, if your loved one finds it easier to use signs and symbols to communicate, the team are happy to use Makaton.

There’s always lots going on within the welcoming community. Activities are run seven days a week and frequently join neighbouring Bupa care home, Tenterden House (offering nursing and residential care), for a range of engaging events and the occasional themed meal.

We’re just off North Orbital Road on the way to the M25 and there’s lots of on-site parking. Lye Lane is the first left after the roundabout with the Shell garage and Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel on it. There’s also a local bus stop a 10-minute walk away.

I am totally pleased with the treatment/care my aunt receives. They are diligent in reporting to me any health issues that my aunt may have. She is very happy there with the staff and friends she has met.

Covid regulations and, once again Christmas, have compounded the problems for us as visitors, but particularly for the staff. They have to keep strict control of potential visits and fit in extra meetings as well as the daily running of Allington Court. I have found everyone unfailingly helpful and
am so happy that my sister is cared for so well in the happy home.

My Nan has recently moved into the home and has settled in really well. The home from what we see through their Facebook page and our visits is always well kept and clean. The staff here have been amazing and even when we have been unable to get in due to isolations they have arranged video calls for
us so we can all still see and speak to her, they have helped make her room her own by putting pictures up on the walls of her family. We as a family can see how much more relaxed she is compared to living at her house and she enjoys being looked after by kind, caring, and helpful staff.

My mum is very happy at Allington Court. The staff are very caring and friendly and show the residents respect and dignity. The food is always fresh and homemade, and the chef regularly checks that we and mum are happy with the choices given.

Today was my fathers birthday, his first in a care home. I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone at the home who made the day special for him. My mum and I visited my father in his room and enjoyed watching him open presents. The care home staff surprised us all by bringing in a beautifully
decorated birthday cake whilst we were there and singing happy birthday. A proper birthday party, with my mum and I having tea and cake too. The cake was enjoyed by everyone, especially my father who devoured every morsel in record time. A big thanks to the care home chef and all the staff.

I have been so satisfied with my visits, staff are very friendly and helpful. During such challenging times they have accommodated us. The home is always so clean and bright. The care has been wonderful, I always come away knowing my husband is in the best care.

Allington Court continued to maintain care during the most challenging of times, the Covid pandemic. We are so pleased that the home is now able to open up and accommodate close family visits as we have missed being able to visit our mother in the home.

Staff are mediumly helpful. Good activities like spending time knitting or eating pancakes. Love my room and twin room. Can keep my curtains closed if I want.

Two months into my father-in-law's stay at Allington Court and we are very happy with his care at Allington Court. Although he has virtually no memory of us any more he seems very happy, well presented and in excellent physical health. The managers and carers are very easy to talk to by email and very
responsive to questions or concerns. A highly professional team and we are so happy he is in such a great home. He regards it as his "new house" and wants to invite us in but due to Covid he cannot, which he does not really understand sadly.
We all appreciate the social media presence so we can see pictures of him taking part in activities and the many musical concerts they seem to have. His wife is greatly comforted that he is being kept safe, healthy and entertained.
I would highly recommend Allington Court to anyone facing the difficult decision to move their loved ones suffering dementia/Alzheimer's into care. We were in your place just a few months ago and it has been a relief to find Allington.

I just wanted to pass on some positive comments regarding the wonderful team at Allington Court Care Home. Everyone is kind and helpful.
The staff are so efficient and are always very happy and friendly when we see and speak to them. They have been absolutely fantastic from the very first day that
Mum arrived. We always get very detailed updates on our mum, they are incredibly caring and kind and we know mum is really fond of them. They have been amazing at arranging regular FaceTime calls with us which have been hugely comforting during such a difficult time. We can see how much our mum enjoys spending time with them.
They have been superstars!! Very efficient, kind and considerate. They have been credibly understanding when we have been upset when Mum has been unwell and have gone above and beyond.
You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves for all the hard work, your commitment, kindness and compassion is clear for everyone to see. Thank you all!

I have been impressed by how I have been able to speak to my mother through video chat during the lockdown. The activities staff have been so helpful. When I was able to visit, I encouraged my mother to join in the activities which were varied and enjoyed. I looked at many care homes before she came

This home is clean and tidy and does not smell.
The clients of this establishment are well cared for, always well presented.
I would recommend this home to anybody who has a relatives suffering with dementia, it is purpose built and the staff are friendly and treat their clients with dignity and respect.
