Allington Court is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, including nursing, residential, Parkinson's and short-stay care.

Everything is on one floor, and the building has a circular design. giving every room garden access and making it easier for residents to find their own way round. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

With the help of their loved ones, staff build a picture of their life story and their likes and dislikes. Staff can then personalise care and help them live the way they want to. Communication and engagement is a big part of life here, too. So, if your loved one finds it easier to use signs and symbols to communicate, the team are happy to use Makaton.

There’s always lots going on within the welcoming community. Activities are run seven days a week and frequently join neighbouring Bupa care home, Tenterden House (offering nursing and residential care), for a range of engaging events and the occasional themed meal.

For more information about life in the home, please visit their Facebook page, search 'Bupa UK Tenterden House and Allington Court'.

I just wanted to pass on some positive comments regarding the wonderful team at Allington Court Care Home. Everyone is kind and helpful.
The staff are so efficient and are always very happy and friendly when we see and speak to them. They have been absolutely fantastic from the very first day that
Mum arrived. We always get very detailed updates on our mum, they are incredibly caring and kind and we know mum is really fond of them. They have been amazing at arranging regular FaceTime calls with us which have been hugely comforting during such a difficult time. We can see how much our mum enjoys spending time with them.
They have been superstars!! Very efficient, kind and considerate. They have been credibly understanding when we have been upset when Mum has been unwell and have gone above and beyond.
You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves for all the hard work, your commitment, kindness and compassion is clear for everyone to see. Thank you all!

I have been impressed by how I have been able to speak to my mother through video chat during the lockdown. The activities staff have been so helpful. When I was able to visit, I encouraged my mother to join in the activities which were varied and enjoyed. I looked at many care homes before she came
here. I was most impressed with this one.

Our mother came to the home after a 5-week stay in hospital. We received a very warm welcome from the start and have been very impressed with the professionalism and standard of care from the whole team. Mum has become very settled at the home which has been fantastic to see and is very comforting for
us. The Facetime calls during lockdown have been a fantastic way to stay in touch and are much appreciated!

Mum appears to be well looked after. Unfortunately due to Covid, we were unable to access the premises.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating towards us and dealt with issues as and when they arose. Mum seems settled in her surroundings.

As a family, we feel that the service user is getting excellent care at Allington Court.
We particularly like their method of toileting for service users - very satisfying that service users are kept as dry as possible. As well, if the service user says they need the toilet outside of the toileting
regime, they are dealt with almost immediately.
Well done Allington! It means a lot to service users.

My uncle was there for nearly 4 years. He had quite agitated behaviour at first which led another home to reject him for a place but Allington Court managed it and were always happy to talk about how they were caring for him. He was always treated with dignity and affection. The atmosphere in the home
is smart, congenial and peaceful. There is a good activity programme and frequent parties and entertainers and the home has large gardens which he enjoyed walking around. He was also taken on outings and care was taken to cater to everyone's interests. When he reached the end of his life, I thought the palliative care they gave was excellent and much better than he would have had in a hospital, a real comfort. There is low staff turnover and this is very good for residents and also their families.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.628)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.628) out of 10 for Allington Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.678 for Allington Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 205 Ratings = 4.678
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Allington Court Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
