Welcome to Forest Care Village Care Centre in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The modern facility offers 24-hour nursing care for adults with life-long physical conditions, particularly those with Acquired Brain Injuries and neurological conditions and24 hour nursing care for those aged 65 and over.

The home is blessed with a dedicated team of nursing and support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. They work in partnership with visiting therapists to offer short and long-term placements, palliative, respite and post-operative care.

The purpose-built facility comprises 178 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities; a large physiotherapy suite; music and sensory facilities and courtyard sensory gardens. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home.

Since I was admitted by kind staff who came to see me at the hospital. I've been treated so well and professionally that it has made a big impact on my life, as I was in a poor state of health, which is good now, thanks to all and everyone here who turned my life into a life to go forward. I'm very
grateful to you all. Many thanks.

I would certainly think about staying again in the future. Many thanks, also the downstairs activities
were very good. May God bless you all.

I can't express enough of all the help the home did for my uncle. He was well cared for, loved and made to feel very comfortable. They made the whole family welcome and even provided tea and toast on the nights staying with him. Thank you. The community in the home is just brilliant. Thank you for everything.

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I am absolutely amazed at receiving no explanation as to where one of my sister-in-law's possessions has gone. Unfortunately, she passed away last August, but the irreplaceable item had been missing for some time before that. After enquiring of its whereabouts I eventually rang and spoke to the CEO?
of the organisation, who asked if I would give time for a thorough search to take place throughout the unit, when she would get back to me - I have heard nothing! I found the place very unwelcoming and had I been given the choice of where my sister-in-law was placed, I would certainly not have chosen Forest Care. Take heed if you care for your loved ones. I could go on, but unfortunately, amount of words is restricted.
Reply from Kate Kay, Operations Manager at Forest Care Village Elstree & BorehamwoodAs soon as we were made aware of the missing item in September, we made every effort to locate this. Unfortunately, we have not been able to and sincerely apologise.

I have been working at Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood over two years, the management and staff are all involved with the care we give to our residents. The teamwork is incredible and we love welcoming new residents and making them feel welcome in to their new home.

Staff have been horrific to my mother. I wish there were cameras installed so that managers can see what is going on. It is an utter disgrace. On view today the place looks filthy. Security is non-existent on the front desk. Anyone can walk in off the street.
Reply from Zoe Hiscox, Operations Manager at Forest Care Village Elstree & BorehamwoodThe health, safety and happiness of our residents is our priority. 24-hour CCTV is in operation within the home for additional safety measures. We encourage families to share any concerns as soon as they experience them, to allow us to address them. When we received this feedback, we immediately conducted a thorough investigation. We would welcome the opportunity to share our findings.

My brother has been staying at Forest Care Village for the last 6 months. He has multiple amputations and arrived at Forrest Care unwell both physically and mentally after a long hospital stay. We were nervous about care homes as he has never been in one and he is only 40 years old!
But we have been
so pleasantly surprised and all our fears were put to rest.

The staff are so caring and go out of their way to help him in every way possible- with self-care, medical care, getting him into a routine etc. He has a large room which is spacious and clean and he is so comfortable there. The head nurse has been especially impressive and has helped my brother so much- she genuinely cares for him and knows how to communicate with him.
Would highly recommend the home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.768)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.768) out of 10 for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is calculated as follows: ( (325 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 341 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.815 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 178 registered maximum number of service users is 35.6. 29 Positive Reviews ÷ 35.6 = 0.815
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
