Welcome to Forest Care Village Care Centre in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The modern facility offers 24-hour nursing care for adults with life-long physical conditions, particularly those with Acquired Brain Injuries and neurological conditions and24 hour nursing care for those aged 65 and over.

The home is blessed with a dedicated team of nursing and support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. They work in partnership with visiting therapists to offer short and long-term placements, palliative, respite and post-operative care.

The purpose-built facility comprises 178 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities; a large physiotherapy suite; music and sensory facilities and courtyard sensory gardens. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home.

At Forest Care Village, they encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of their activities take place within the home environment and include art workshops, handicrafts, garden parties, and barbecues. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a salon blow-dry and manicure or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. All are encouraged and available. Fore Care Village's residents enjoy the wider community with a thriving high street, independent shops and local park all within a short distance.

My husband was sent here on a DTA bed from a hospital stay following Covid. He has advanced dementia and moto neurone disease. The staff here have treated him very kindly; he always looked clean and says he is happy. I call several times a day on video, as does his son, and we are very happy with the
premises and the staff. He is eating well and has gained some weight back since his admission.

The management, care staff and nurses are very dedicated and work hard to provide a high standard of care for the residents. The extreme conditions resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic has put huge extra burdens on the staff. I think this has been very well handled. Residents are treated with dignity
and respect by staff who aim to keep them safe. There is a warm and cheerful atmosphere in the home. I am kept well informed. I was told that my wife had received the vaccine at the home. Request for items of clothing, hair or dental products needed is always made to me in a polite manner.

I came to this care home with about two hours notice. I arrived just before lunchtime and had a very pleasant, helpful welcome. Luch was sorted for me very quickly and was very enjoyable, as all the meals have been since then. The six weeks I have been here, have been very pleasant; staff understanding
and helpful, and every request has been attended to as quickly as possible with a smile. Very important.

My Dad was a resident of FCV for 13 years until his passing in Feb 2021. I found that his care was at the optimum. During his residence and his home, he was treated with dignity and respect. His nursing needs were always met. His social and mental needs were provided for in regular stimulating activities
and engagement with a dedicated and caring staff. Several staff members were involved with my Dad for a long period of time possibly greater than 10 years. I did not observe a high turnover of care staff which I can surmise was due to the staff enjoying their jobs and feeling valued. Dad's neurological condition would occasionally manifest itself in frustration and verbal outbursts. The staff were compassionate and well trained in dealing with this and his specialist needs. I was regularly informed of my Dad health. I was involved in his care planning, meeting with senior staff and social workers. His key workers were always available to talk about Dad's care.

I have had a very pleasant experience being here and have felt very safe. The carers and staff, in general, have been helpful as my needs have deteriorated. I would be happy to return here again after my next hip operation whenever that happens.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.768)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.768) out of 10 for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is calculated as follows: ( (325 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 341 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.815 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forest Care Village Elstree & Borehamwood is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 178 registered maximum number of service users is 35.6. 29 Positive Reviews ÷ 35.6 = 0.815
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
