Hill House provides nursing, residential and short stay care, as well as residential rehabilitation for the young and old. Hill House is a spacious, elegant eighteenth-century building converted to provide residential and nursing care, for long and short term needs. As well as supporting elderly residents, staff welcome those who are 18 and over and living with a physical disability or neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, in need of residential care.

Residents can expect a high standard of care in the midst of a friendly community. With each of their cosy bedrooms, residents can enjoy the convenience of an en suite, and there are lovely views across the gardens and surrounding countryside.

There are lots of places to relax, including the choice of six lounges. Residents can cosy up with a book in the library, use the computer room, or enjoy being pampered in the salon.

The large gardens are especially tranquil because they back onto a small area of woodlands. Within the walled space, residents can stroll along the paths, rest under the pergola, or catch-up with loved ones on the patio.

They want residents to settle in quickly and be happy here. That’s why they help them to hold onto as much independence as possible.

There’s also good food, lots to do, and a warm welcome for friends and family whenever they visit.

The team of activity coordinators plan all sorts of interesting things to do, including those who are less mobile. All activities are tailored to each person's likes and abilities too.

The chef prepares a range of delicious foods, including some family favourites and kosher meals.

Hill House is a combination of original and new build accommodation done tastefully, but also fully functional. Two large gardens are available for residents to enjoy the fresh air, flower and shrubs, many planted by the residents themselves. All of the staff at every level are friendly, helpful, attentive
and dedicated to ensuring the resident's wellbeing. The diverse activities enable residents to enjoy group interactions. The food menu is very varied and never a disappointment.

Our mother was a resident at Hill House, for 18-months. During her time there, we as a family, could not fault the care and attention she received. Her accommodation was spacious, light and airy. On our visits, Mum was always clean and well-groomed. She enjoyed her mealtimes, and the standard of food
was excellent. Mum loved the interaction with the staff and enjoyed all the activities that were on offer. We too found all the staff very friendly and caring. The open-door policy in place for visiting was very much appreciated by all of her family. A huge thank you.

The nursing care at Hill House is outstanding and staff are warm, friendly and very accommodating. Despite her dementia, my mother is happy and comfortable. The food is very good with a varied menu to suit everyone. There is a wide range of activities such as arts and crafts, musical events, visits
from the local nursery and tea parties. When mum was unable to attend the guide dog visit they brought the dog up to her room so she did not miss out. The activities team come and play the guitar and sing to Mum which is such a treat for her and it is lovely to see her smile. The management is very good and it is a comfort to know that Mum is in the best hands.

The management and staff at Hill House Care home are excellent. Their care and attention towards my father who is a permanent resident and his health issues are exceptional. My father recently struggled with his health, the staff acted immediately requesting an ambulance. This fast action meant he was
hospitalised and back on the road to recovery fairly quickly. The carers showed genuine empathy and concern about my father which means so much to him and to me, his daughter. It is this attention to the care they provide that is very reassuring and such an important role. It's wonderful that the management at the home invests time in employing the right people. The carers of my father are the same carers and key workers, they get to know the resident and their needs which provides a two-way relationship. The carers are busy people but they always find time to update family members of important issues, for example, if there is a change in the care plan or a planned event. Thank you to everyone.
Reply from Greta Narbutaityte, Customer Adviser at Hill House Care HomeThank you for such amazing feedback. We are very glad to hear your father feels well looked after. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.

This care home feels extremely friendly. Every time I visit, I feel like I am in a nice, warm place, that feel like home.
I love passing by and seeing all the activities that are going on. I love that the activities consist of educational sessions, fun moments and of course, there's music and entertainment.
When I see that, it reminds me of a group of friends having fun.

We attended the Christmas Party on 17th December 2019. My brother who is a resident spent the evening with us in the dining room. We were treated to a delicious Christmas meal and entertainment.
The kitchen staff and activities team worked very hard to ensure everyone present had a wonderful, festive
time. The dining room was beautifully decorated, with festive decorations. The staff were committed to ensuring everyone was comfortable and wanted for nothing.
Well done everyone.

My mother has been a permanent resident here since 9 days ago and is settling in very well. She has a great room with a view over the lovely garden. She said the home has a homely feeling to it and enough room for her personal belongings and small bits of her furniture. The staff are efficient and mostly
very chatty and friendly.
I live in Germany and can now go back to Germany with a good feeling that she will be well cared for.
She is very sociable and enjoys the activities on offer and in this short time, has enjoyed 3 love singers who have come to Hill House.

My husband is a resident at Hill House and tells me how wonderful he enjoys his meals there. He says it’s more like a restaurant than a care home and the lovely chef comes to see him regularly. Top chef well done for looking after him so well. I don’t know how you feed so many people with all their
different needs.

My mum has been a resident at Hill House for almost 13 years. The care provided, the choice of activities available I cannot fault. Until mum passed away this month, the love, care and attention received were second to none. Mum did things here and went on visits to so many different places, mum was
living life again to its fullest. Thank you to everyone at Hill House for all you did for mum over the years.

My husband seems content at Hill House. The staff are lovely to him and to us when we visit.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.684)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.684) out of 10 for Hill House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.684 for Hill House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (256 Excellents x 5) + (92 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.684
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hill House Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
