Kilfillan House provides nursing, residential, palliative, Parkinson's and convalescence care. The home offers both long-term and short-stay care.

Located in a pleasant residential area not far from the town centre of Berkhamsted, this former manor house provides first-class accommodation and facilities. Interiors include comfortable ensuite bedrooms while outside offers pretty mature gardens with a greenhouse and sensory garden, each providing the ideal setting to relax and unwind.

The chef provides meals that are tasty and nutritious and works hard to ensure that all residents’ dietary requirements are met. Home-made sweet treats are available every day and the home enjoys celebrating each resident’s birthday with a personalised birthday cake.

Daily activities and regular outings are arranged for residents and friends and family are always welcome to join in.

As a result of the lockdown we have been unable to visit for 2 months so are not able to see things. However, we applaud the decision for an early lockdown by Kilfillan House and for the management of the virus pandemic, as, to our knowledge, there has been no-one suffering from the virus in the home,
which is excellent. When we phoned the home with any concerns staff have been curteous and reassuring. My father, 99 on Friday, remains in goo health, if a bit erratic in his thinking! Thank you.

The success of this home is totally down to the fantastic manageress and the great staff she employs. All staff are professional, intuitive, kind, caring, and will go out of their way. This is a wonderful care home run by amazing staff. It is warm, cosy, safe, and in beautiful surroundings. Only negative,
fees expensive and continually rose way above inflation.

I arrived at Kilfillan House care Home on the 18th March to be greeted by very enthusiastic and caring nursing staff. I was also introduced to the visiting Doctor and details of my medical history of recent times were discussed in the comfort of my accommodation on the ground floor. From this room,
I had a beautiful view of the garden which I found so beneficial during lockdown due to Covid-19. The care and attention were continuous and carried out from early morning until bedtime with courtesy and friendly service.

Management is very approachable and understanding and helpful whenever possible. Nursing managers very efficient, friendly, and professional. Carers all friendly, capable, and willing, most of the time. The kitchen staff tries very hard to please every individual's dietary needs. Residents all like
the entertainment provided but there can be long gaps of several days sometimes and then time can be quite boring and miserable for them. This is where I think an improvement in some way is needed and would be welcomed, especially at weekends.

To the manager - Just to say a big thank you for the hospitality and the kindness shown to me whilst I was a resident in Kilfillan House Care Home in Berkhamstead. I chose Kilfillan House as the reception and information I received when visiting on a Saturday afternoon inspired me that this was the
place I required for respite care. It all turned out correct and I thank you and all your staff for their assistance and all that was provided.

Kilfillan House is an amazing care home. My Mum was a resident here for 8 months and received fantastic care. The staff are all very friendly and caring and treated my Mum with the utmost respect at all times. Although suffering from a horrible terminal illness, the home made her final months as happy
and comfortable as possible and our family never had to worry about her when we were not there. The Manager runs a fantastic team and I cannot praise them highly enough. I could not have wished for better care of my Mum (and the family!) Thank you.

My mum is very well cared for here. The staff seem attentive and genuinely interested in her and my family. I am so grateful to know that she is in a lovely, caring environment where all her nursing needs are taken care of. She arrived with bad pressure sores and the care she has had has meant they

Mum has been at Kilfillan House Care Home for over 18 months her care has been good. She has been in bed more the last 6 months which I feel sad about as she enjoyed the social side - entertainment. She does have a pleasant room which helps the situation.

At Kilfillan House my relative is well cared for by thoughtful, considerate and caring staff. The sitting room, dining room and conservatory are pleasant communal rooms. The garden is greatly appreciated weather permitting. There is a family feel at Kilfillan House and staff are always very welcoming
when we visit. Managing staff are always approachable and keen to discuss any requirements or changes. A range of activities are organised to keep residents stimulated and socialised. Some bedrooms would be improved by refurbishment.

Our dear mum came to Kilfillan for her end of life care. A short stay was expected and now, thanks to excellent nursing care she celebrated her 88 birthday some 9 months after admission. This is quite remarkable in itself but what is extraordinary is the care and professionalism of all the at the Nursing
Home. A special birthday tea was organised and as a family we cannot thank all the nursing home team for their kindness, respect and dignity. We enjoyed special time with mum on her birthday thanks to the home, something we did not think we would have this year. Remarkable care by remarkable people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
