Thank you to all the staff at River Court Nursing Home. My father was admitted in an emergency situation, and they cared for him, had excellent communication skills and were respectful of our family's needs. His key worker Sue, Charl, Jais and Ellie were fantastic throughout. I could relax in the knowledge they gave him dignity and exemplary care. A great team! Thank you from all his family.

The staff at River Court Care Home are lovely. They treated my mother in law who died 2 weeks ago. My mother in law loved all of the staff and especially had a soft spot for Prabhu and Jair. I wish I could remember the other staff's name. Thank you all for looked after my mother in law so well in her last few months.

My dad has been living at Chess House for several years now, and I can honestly say it has been the best possible place for him. From the very beginning, the care and kindness shown by everyone has been exceptional. Under Maggie's thoughtful and compassionate leadership, the carers go above and beyond every single day.
What makes Chess House so special is not just the professional care, but the warmth and genuine affection the staff show. They treat my dad like family, and they have taken the time to get to know all of us too - they know every member of our family by name, and that personal touch means the world. Whenever I visit, I feel welcomed, included, and reassured that my dad is surrounded by people who truly care about. It gives me so much peace of mind to know he is safe, comfortable, and valued in such a loving environment.

I would recommend Chess House wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be looked after with dignity and respect.

I have been here 5 years. Came during covid lockdown due to complications with covid left me unable to put pressure on foot for 6 months, after which I could not walk. I find the care received here exemplary, nothing is too much trouble from nurses, care staff, activities staff, laundry and cleaning and kitchen staff. They are all kind and helpful, my personal care is well looked after. If something I won't eat on the menu, chef will make alternative. I would highly recommend River Court for short or long term care.

Cecilia Kassanga
Cecilia KassangaJob Title:Home Manager

As Home Manager for River Court Care Home, Cecilia closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

Discussing her approach to working in the care sector, Cecilia said:

“It has been my dream to be part of an environment that allows me to help and support those in need or are vulnerable. It is also imperative in the care sector to be patient, caring and a good listener which are all characteristics that I possess, making care work completely natural for me. Over a decade later and I remain truly overjoyed to be part of a rewarding sector!”

“My HC-One name badge says: ‘A good laughter, heals’, which I chose because I believe it’s important to make each other smile and laugh as you never know what someone is dealing with in private.”

When asked what she enjoys most about being a Home Manager, Cecilia remarked:

“Knowing that I am making a positive difference at every opportunity I get is extremely fulfilling.

Cecilia has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being supporting less fortunate children with starting and progressing their education in Africa.

Outside of work, Cecilia enjoys spending quality time with her two children, including as she says: “Either travelling across the country, world or simply down the road!”
