The staff here are fabulous.
From the moment you arrive and are offered home made cake and a cup of tea the staff can not do enough to make you feel comfortable.
Having seen the activities team with the residents spending time and attention with them was a pleasure to see.
The new manager has a
light and energy that has motivated the staff and changed the atmosphere to a calm friendly family home.
The redecoration of the home with the new furniture and pictures is great to see.
The new chef sits and chats to the residents and makes sure that the food is to the client's liking.

From when Dad went in for respite and then permanent care, the care Dad received at Abbotsleigh was excellent. The staff were all so kind and caring to the residents. The home was very clean with the cleaning staff always making sure the home was spotless. The daily activities for the residents were
always varied and available to all, even though Dad didn’t get too involved with the activities, staff always spent one to one time with him which he preferred.
The food was cooked on the premises and was of a very high standard with staff always available to assist residents at meal times. As a family we could visit when we wanted sometimes arriving late after work and we were always made to feel welcome. We felt that Dad was very happy and safe at Abbotsleigh and had no concerns leaving him there as all the staff were friendly, caring and approachable. The home was a warm and caring environment where all Dad's needs were met where he was treated compassionately with dignity and respect.

My friend has been at Abbotsleigh since late October 2017, and although his family found the decision hard to start with, the care and friendliness of all the stall have put their minds to rest. All the stall are friendly, courteous, considerate and very patient, not only with the residents but also
with all the visitors. In fact, nothing is too much trouble. The home is always clean and smells fresh, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbotsleigh to others.

I have been visiting Abbotsleigh Care Home for 6 years and from last year onwards the transformations for the better have been incredible. It is a real joy to visit Abbotsleigh. The staff could not be more helpful and kind. The decortication and furnishings are amazing. The residents' interaction is
beyond recognition. They are awake and interactive. I have not had such level of interaction for years. It is a happy place and the residence are so well looked after. Wonderful really. The staff is working extremely hard but don’t show their stresses and try to please always. I love coming to Abbotsleigh, especially with this swishy new coffee machine and freshly baked cake expecting you on arrival. Thank you all at Abbotsleigh for making me feel so welcome. With my love and prayers.

My sister has been a resident for almost a year. She is contented, has gained weight and physically is very well. She loves to communicate by touch and smile with everyone and the staff respond to this with kindness. They always have time to stop, speak and hold her hand. She is stimulated with singing,
simple handcraft, usual reminisces and with people. Wellbeing in the form of gentle massage, manicure, pedicure and hairdressing gives her the attention she craves.

My grandmother has been a resident at Abbotsleigh since August 2017. I find all of the staff are always very professional and hardworking. My grandmother's room is spacious and clean. The rest of the home is also kept very clean and always smells fresh. The new manager is very approachable and friendly.
I speak highly of Abbotsleigh and I would recommend it to others.

My mum has been put in various hospital wards, assessment centre's etc. for 6 months before she finally came to Abbotsleigh. All I can say is WOW. It is so clean, inviting and welcoming. It feels more like a hotel than a care home. The staff should be highly praised for there care and attention they
have given our mum and to myself and my brother when we visit.

Nothing is too much trouble and I have never seen or spoken to anyone who has not been happy and helpful.

My dad first went into Abbotsleigh Care Centre for respite back in July 2017 for 2 weeks, he was well cared for and looked after. Due to his illness, he now needs full-time care and is at present back at Abbotsleigh. The staff are very good with the residents and they are all treated as individuals
and nothing is too much for them. It was a difficult decision for us as a family but Abbotsleigh has made the whole process as stress-free as possible. I feel happy leaving him at the end of each visit knowing he is well looked after.

My Dad has been at Abbotsleigh for just over a year. The staff are always very caring with my Dad, and when he is sleepy they put him back to bed so he is more comfortable.
As he is spending more time in his bedroom I mentioned that his furniture was a little elderly and getting tatty. Within a day
the furniture was replaced and it now looks far brighter in his room.
The activity staff are very good, reading poems with my Dad as it is one thing that he can still do, recite poetry. There is always something going on.
Last week there were all types of animals and my Dad became quite animated talking about a tortoise he once had (something I did not know!)
The staff are very good at liaising with me about any health issues and I really do feel I know what is going on with his care. A little thing, but we are always given a cuppa when we arrive, and I know my elderly mother appreciates this, especially when she has come on the train.

My Mum has been a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for almost two years. My mum has very challenging behaviour at times due to her dementia. The staff at Abbotsleigh are outstanding, very caring and patient, not only to my Mum but to all residents. All of the carers and nurses show so much affection
and care its so nice to watch, nothing is too much trouble and there is always a smile no matter how difficult the situation gets. I would highly recommend Abbotsleigh. The home is always very clean and my Mum is always looking and dressed just how she would love to be. I still play a role in my Mum's care but when I go home I know that my Mum will be very well cared for in my absence.

My dad has been a resident at Abbotsleigh for just over a year and in that time I have seen a lot of changes and they have all been good. The home gives a friendly and homely feel.

The care my dad has received has been beyond all my expectations. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They go

out of their way to make the residents feel at home and treat them as individuals.

I have always found the staff very approachable and friendly, and when I leave my dad I know he is being cared for by a brilliant team. If you are looking for a care home then I can fully recommend this one.

When first arrived was placed upstairs, he was kept in bed.
Was told it was his choice.
I expressed my concerns about spending too much time in bed and asked for him to be got up every day and sat in a chair with other residents, which was taken on board.
After about a month he was moved downstairs.
He
is up every day and sat in the lounge with everyone.
Care is excellent.
Spent time observing staff - they are very caring and do a brilliant job.
Dad always looks clean, clothes are always clean and ironed.
Overall as a family, we are happy to see dad being looked after so well.
Thanks to everyone at the home!

My mother was resident at the care centre for four years and always received excellent care. My sisters and I were always kept fully informed of any health issues, and the staff were always friendly and helpful.
On the day of my mother's death, we were treated with sympathy, respect and helpfulness
by all staff members and given adequate time to be alone with our mother we were then offered advice concerning legal and other necessary procedures to be adopted.

My mother has just spent six months on the residential side of the home - sadly passing away there a couple of days ago. I could not have been more pleased with our choice of home - the care that she received was first-class in a genuinely caring, family type environment, where she and all the other
residents were treated with the utmost compassion and dignity.

I visited my Mum on a daily basis and could see at first hand that nothing was too much trouble for the staff and that included everyone - from residential and nursing staff to cleaning, laundry, catering and admin. I see this as a huge credit to the way the home is managed by the respective team leaders in residential and nursing and of course managed overall by the very professional registered manager. The staff are exceptionally well trained and genuinely enjoy working with the elderly and this is reflected in the warm, happy ambience that you immediately feel in the home.

My mother has been at Abbotsleigh since early in the year 2015, I believe she has been treated in a dignified manner considering her dementia and is looked after very well. There are various activities which all residents can participate in (if possible of course) and consideration in given to other
residents who do not wish to take part! The medical side of proceedings seems to be very satisfactory overall I/we are pleased with the on going situation.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.885)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.885) out of 10 for Abbotsleigh Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.910 for Abbotsleigh Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (202 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 221 Ratings = 4.91
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbotsleigh Care Centre is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
