This home is just so amazing. My mum is being cared for by this home and from staff to management they are all incredible. The level of care given to my mum, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, so can be difficult, never falters and they are always there to tend to my mum's needs. My family and I have
total peace of mind knowing that she is safe and cared for.

My aunt was transferred to Acacia House from hospital for an assessment as her needs have now increased. The welcome she, and I, received was so warm and friendly that she settled in immediately.
Her room is charming and equipped with everything to make her comfortable and she is enjoying the food
and her appetite has increased.
Without exception, every member of staff we have encountered has been kind, caring, extremely professional and helpful and I commend them highly.
She will be moving back to the area she has always lived in and I just wish we could pick up Acacia House and put it down there.
Thank you all for looking after her.
Reply from Constantin Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenOn behalf of the team at Acacia, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time and effort you kindly took to review us. It is an absolute pleasure having your aunt here and we are delighted that she settled in so well and has found her appetite again - we've found that good food always makes the world of difference to life's trials! Making our home as friendly and welcoming as possible is paramount to us, not just for our residents, but for our visitors too so receiving such wonderful feedback really means a lot to us. We wish you and your aunt every happiness upon her return to her hometown.

My sister, who is 88 years of age and has a very serious medical condition, has been happily settled at Acacia House since mid-February 2024. She has been shown great kindness and understanding from both the carers and the nurses and I would never have imagined that she would have been so happy and
comfortable in a nursing home. She now does not want to be anywhere else. The happy atmosphere at Acacia House is apparent as soon as one enters the building and I must say that credit should be given to the manager who, one gets the impression, is liked and greatly respected by the staff in equal measure. This is not an easy balance to maintain when running such an operation.
Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you for sharing your sister's experience at Acacia House. It's wonderful to hear she's so happy and well cared for. The kindness of the staff and the positive atmosphere clearly make a big difference, and it's great to see our team recognised for their dedication.

When visiting my Grandad for the first time, I was welcomed by the lovely home administrator who straight away took us to see him. She was very personable and spoke confidently about how my Grandad was and what he had been up to.
During my visit, I noticed that the atmosphere was calm and welcoming
and that everyone was well looked after. Staff were going above and beyond to make us and my Grandad comfortable. A member of staff who was tending to the garden even offered to bring a table and chairs outside for us, so that my Grandad could sit comfortably.
Overall, we are very happy with the care my Grandad is receiving, he seems happy and settled.
Reply from Constantin Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you so much for your kind words. We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience during your visit and that your Grandad is happy and settled. Our team works hard to create a welcoming and comfortable environment, and it's wonderful to know that the little touches, like bringing a table and chairs outside, made a difference for your family. We truly appreciate your feedback and are grateful for the opportunity to care for your Grandad. If there's anything else we can do to support you or him, please don't hesitate to let us know!

The staff at Acacia House provide amazing care and support for my grandma who has been a resident for almost a year. They have fantastic standards across the board, from cleanliness to in-house entertainment, quality of care and hosting for visitors. We are always welcomed with the warmest reception
and they are very attentive throughout our visit. My grandma has fully settled and is very happy with her new set-up and the friends she has around her.

The staff really can't do enough for you, and the events they put on are so well organised with amazing setups - the summer Wild West party was a great representation of the lengths they go to make such an effort for their residents and family. Cannot speak highly enough of this place. Thank you to all who provided the reassurance that my grandma is so well looked after and thought of.

I just want to thank all the staff of Acacia House for putting on such a wonderful day at the BBQ. We enjoyed it so much. And my husband took part as I never thought he would do again. Dancing with some of the staff, who also looked like they were having a great time.
It all must have taken such a
great deal of planning, which obviously paid off as so many enjoyed it.
Thank you to you all again for such a lovely day, and as you say lots of memories forever.

Our lovely Dad has been at Acacia House since 2020 and we can’t fault the care that he has been given. The staff are so attentive and kind and have really taken the time to get to know our dad’s personality. Their kindness shines through and we are so grateful to know that he is in such great hands.
There have been many changes since he came and the home continues to strive to be the best it can be and is continually assessing and improving. We have absolute confidence that our dad is in the best place in such difficult circumstances.
Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you very much for your kind words. The current manager and his team have turned the home around. They genuinely care about the families as well as the residents. They are very friendly and approachable and always easy to get on with.
The home is clean as are the residents no matter what time of day you visit, and the residents are a
lot more relaxed under the current management team.

My grandfather has been a member of the Acacia House family since June 2023, and despite the experience being very difficult for him leaving his own home after living 60+ years in the same place, Acacia House has made the transition seamless. I can’t thank the management team or the staff enough for
the dignity and respect my grandfather continues to receive on a daily basis. I heard so many horror stories of care homes that I was very against the idea, but can attest that my worries based on my experience were unfounded. If your family member manages to get a placement here you are blessed because it really is an amazing place with truly amazing people working there.
Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you very much for your lovely review. I have been my mother's full-time and live in carer since my dad died last July. She missed my dad very much and is bereaved (still). The support, encouragement, professionalism and insight they of Acacia gave to my mum in care just for 3 days was exemplary and second to none. I cant thank you enough.
Mum will be returning very soon, it helps me very much and she enjoys it too.

My mum has been a resident at Acacia House since 2020, and during that time the care has been everything I had hoped for. It was an extremely difficult transition for my mum at a difficult time for everyone during the pandemic. My experience with the staff from carers to management has mostly been very
positive.
We have experienced some complications and difficulties with a person who visits Mum and this has been handled with a lot of care and even more patience by the manager of Acacia House.
The care staff and nurses are always so friendly and happy to accommodate any wishes for Mum, sometimes in difficult circumstances.
I am very confident that she is getting the best care possible. Thank you to the manager and his staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.836) out of 10 for Acacia House - Tenterden is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.836 for Acacia House - Tenterden is calculated as follows: ( (357 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 421 Ratings = 4.836
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia House - Tenterden is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Since May 2022

What sort of duties do you have at work?

Supporting our home manager, Cristian, to ensure the smooth, effective service of the home! Other duties include being involved in looking after the residents' and staff's mental well-being by offering emotional support, friendship and advocacy.

What is your work experience / what are your qualifications in the care industry?

Previously worked for the NHS as 111 Health Advisor & Dental Practice Receptionist, also with a retail background in beauty, management, sales, marketing and training. I went to university and began studying Psychology and Counselling while living with my elderly grandmother and her partner, who had dementia. I have further qualifications in Counselling Skills and management, and I am currently studying Level 3 Health and Social Care. I have previously worked in another nursing home, but I left to join Acacia House as our Activities Coordinator, providing a range of diverse, inclusive, and person-centred activities suited to each and every resident, whether on a group basis or one-to-one. This also involved sourcing and booking Acacia's entertainment from external providers and arranging group outings to exciting places such as local farms, aquariums, coffee shops, and garden centres.

Tell us a little about yourself (hobbies/interests, etc.)

I'm always really pants at these autobiographical descriptions, but I would say something along the lines of "Hello, I'm Emily, easily excitable, passionate, empathetic and a people person. I love animals, especially cats and other small fluffy things, and I also have a daughter called Sasha who is 6 years old. Sasha loves to come to visit Acacia and refers to our residents as "The Grandmas and Grandpas" and enjoys getting involved with the activities, especially the arts and crafts club and our musical madness sessions. She has made some firm friends, and one of the "Grandpas" has taken her under his wing. Hobby-wise, I have a few, but I am usually happy to give anything a chance. But I do love swimming, reading, arts and crafts and chatting with a coffee. I have a keen interest in getting to know people, animals, psychology, and just making people happy, really. I'm not too sure what else to say!

What do you enjoy about working in a Nursing Home?

I love the togetherness between the residents and staff - it is a real team effort here - no day is the same, and it keeps me on my toes! I really treasure the ability to be able to make such a difference in people's lives, especially towards their last weeks, months or years - it is important to me that our residents feel valued, important, loved and respected and that they are enjoying their time here at Acacia.

What is your favourite thing about Acacia?

My favourite thing about Acacia is the friendly, family atmosphere. Everyone is loved and looked after as if they were our own grandparents/parents/siblings. The staff members are warm, approachable and genuine, which makes everyone feel at ease and very welcome - nothing is too much trouble, and everyone is eager to help out when needed.
