I have been my mother's full-time and live in carer since my dad died last July. She missed my dad very much and is bereaved (still). The support, encouragement, professionalism and insight they of Acacia gave to my mum in care just for 3 days was exemplary and second to none. I cant thank you enough.
Mum will be returning very soon, it helps me very much and she enjoys it too.
Reply from Constantin Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you so much for your kind words - we absolutely love having your mother come to stay with us for her respite care, she is wonderful and brightens all of our days. We can't wait for her next stay with us.

My mum has been a resident at Acacia House since 2020, and during that time the care has been everything I had hoped for. It was an extremely difficult transition for my mum at a difficult time for everyone during the pandemic. My experience with the staff from carers to management has mostly been very
positive.
We have experienced some complications and difficulties with a person who visits Mum and this has been handled with a lot of care and even more patience by the manager of Acacia House.
The care staff and nurses are always so friendly and happy to accommodate any wishes for Mum, sometimes in difficult circumstances.
I am very confident that she is getting the best care possible. Thank you to the manager and his staff.
Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you very much for your kind words and for trusting us with the care of your mother. We will continue to spread our positivity throughout the home and keep everyone safe and happy. Thank you for your continuous support and we look forward to seeing you soon.

A warm welcome via phone, asking if it's okay to visit my godfather. On arrival, I was greeted with a smile from a lovely admin member of staff who offered me a cup of drink. Very friendly home. My exit from the home was extremely nice.

My father has advanced dementia. The manager, nurses and carers are caring, kind and patient. They seem conscientious and committed to maintaining and improving the service they provide. We receive a warm welcome when we visit. The home has a 'homely' atmosphere rather than a 'clinical' one. I feel
my father is safe at Acacia House care home.
Reply from Constantin Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you so much for your kind words, we love having your father here with us - he always brings sunshine to our days! We continually strive for excellence at Acacia so it is great to hear that you are happy with our service. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

I love the friendliness of everyone, how you are welcomed like family and I can see a big difference in my brother. He is clean and happy and that makes me happy because I know he is being looked after and he is safe. I couldn't comment on food as I have not been there at meal times. As for drink, the
staff are always giving him drinks.
Reply from Cristian Tarus, Home Manager at Acacia House - TenterdenThank you very much for your kind words. The amazing manager and all his staff here have been amazing! What a great family feel, they have all created. help of the kind staff.

Visiting my brother was made a lot easier for me than I thought it would be. The management and the staff are second to none! Couldn't have wished for a better place for my brother to have his final days. The care and attention he received was amazing. We were kept informed of everything we needed to
know without any problems. When my brother passed away they contacted me immediately. Value for money yes, but it was funded on the NHS.

My mum came to Acacia House first for respite. The carers at the home gave notice, so Mum had to stay. It was unclear for a while if she would be able to stay, but luckily for us, she did. 18 months down the line, my dad's health became worse, and he had to go and stay at Acacia House after coming out
of the hospital. Acacia House has been amazing. We love the staff and can't fault it. If we do need to discuss something that may not feel quite right, we feel that we can and that it will be sorted.

My mother has been with Acacia House for several years now. I feel that the staff at 'Acacia House' have been very supportive to mum throughout her stay. I have chatted with the staff on many occasions both in person and over the phone and can honestly say that I've been regularly kept in the loop regarding
mum's time spent there, activities she participates in and what she eats etc. This is a well-run care home and I have some peace of mind knowing she is being well looked after.

My ex-husband went to Acacia House in September 2020. He has a downstairs room where he can see visitors through his window. This is all due to Covid restrictions. However, I have been in contact with him via phone calls and our son and daughter in law have been able to visit through the window. He
is very well looked after, and the Entertainment Manager has filled his days with many activities as well as organising video calls where we can chat with him face to face. Our main priority was that he was safe and this has been Acacia House’s priority too. The staff are very happy to inform us of his health and well-being. He enjoys mealtimes and interacts well with staff and other residents. Overall he has settled very well at Acacia House which is very reassuring.

My husband was in Acacia House for end of life care. I was overwhelmed by the care and kindness shown to both myself and my husband. The staff were exemplary. They were checking on my husband very frequently to talk to him and see if he needed a drink or food even though he was barely conscious most
of the time. I could not have chosen a better care home with more caring staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.834)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.834) out of 10 for Acacia House - Tenterden is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.834 for Acacia House - Tenterden is calculated as follows: ( (376 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 445 Ratings = 4.834
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia House - Tenterden is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I'm always really pants at these autobiographical descriptions, but I would say something along the lines of "Hello, I'm Emily, easily excitable, passionate, empathetic and a people person. I love animals, especially cats and other small fluffy things, and I also have a daughter called Sasha who is 6 years old. Sasha loves to come to visit Acacia and refers to our residents as "The Grandmas and Grandpas" and enjoys getting involved with the activities, especially the arts and crafts club and our musical madness sessions. She has made some firm friends, and one of the "Grandpas" has taken her under his wing. Hobby-wise, I have a few, but I am usually happy to give anything a chance. But I do love swimming, reading, arts and crafts and chatting with a coffee. I have a keen interest in getting to know people, animals, psychology, and just making people happy, really. I'm not too sure what else to say!

What do you enjoy about working in a Nursing Home?

I love the togetherness between the residents and staff - it is a real team effort here - no day is the same, and it keeps me on my toes! I really treasure the ability to be able to make such a difference in people's lives, especially towards their last weeks, months or years - it is important to me that our residents feel valued, important, loved and respected and that they are enjoying their time here at Acacia.

What is your favourite thing about Acacia?

My favourite thing about Acacia is the friendly, family atmosphere. Everyone is loved and looked after as if they were our own grandparents/parents/siblings. The staff members are warm, approachable and genuine, which makes everyone feel at ease and very welcome - nothing is too much trouble, and everyone is eager to help out when needed.
