The team supported my step Dad brilliantly. This allowed him to recover and find the determination to get home. Instead of having doubts about food and medication regime at home, they were detailed and on top of things. They were kind and thoughtful and friendly too. It is a difficult time and brilliant to have a professional and efficient team of complimentary skills there at a time of acute need.

This was a well run home, staffed by friendly, caring and professional staff. It was the first time my wife had stayed in a care home and I had no qualms about leaving her there. The home was clean and tidy, and the staff did a great job in keeping both the home and residents cool in some very hot weather. The food was nutritious and varied, and meal times were well managed to cater for the wide variety of residents.

Staff go above & beyond giving top quality care, prior to my fathers admission on a visit to check Ashminster's suitability, he became ill. Nothing was too much trouble, from taking his blood pressure, pulse readings, asking about medication to calling an ambulance, even a follow up phone call the following day before it had been decided he would become a resident there. Staff really listen, they don't just 'hear' & they act on residents & their families views & wishes whilst being supportive.

The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, from the moment you step through the door. The home is beautifully decorated & furnished evoking a home from home feel. Ashminster's facilities are second to none, with so much freedom for those who need closer monitoring without being obtrusive. Comfort & cleanliness come as standard, staff are approachable & go the extra mile. With extensive menus, delicious food & lots of engaging activities there is something for everyone. Well done Ashminster.

My husband has been at Ashminster House Care Home for 3 1/2 years and in all that time, he has been treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff in mine and the family's eyes are the best. They go above and beyond. They care and you know that someone who means a lot to you is in safe hands. The staff become like family to you, which is a wonderful feeling as it is also very genuine. I could praise them and fill pages saying. But thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My husband has plenty of good food at Ashminster (varied diet). Also excellent medical care by the team all the staff are very friendly to both residents and relatives. There are many activities including singers who come regularly to entertain personal care is very good (shower/hairwash). My husband has regular haircuts and looks good. The carers are very polite also and very hardworking. If any issues arise they are quickly dealt with.

My mum has been a resident here since August. This home has lovely staff and some nice communal areas (lounges, coffee area, dining room). The presentation and decor are luxurious compared to some I have seen. Nice carpets, wallpaper and decorative touches. Gardens are not expansive but nicely kept and provide areas for sitting with a cuppa, bird feeding/watching. In good weather, activities are held in the garden (e.g. BBQ, crafts, live musical/comedy shows). Some of the rooms are small for residents who have mobility issues and therefore have wheelchairs/strollers taking up floor space. Can make opening wardrobe doors a juggling act. All rooms have private WC and basin.
A spa bath is available for residents. Complete with chair winch for safely getting in and out.
The general shower room is large but does lack support handrails, a shower chair is available to sit whilst washing.

There are excellent teams onsite for nursing, caring, activities and entertainment, laundry, catering and maintenance.

My husband was here on two weeks respite. Overall, was very happy, staff were lovely and very welcoming, especially one member of staff who was such a lovely, caring lady. The amount of food and drink is outstanding and all very fresh and well-cooked. My husband was always clean and well-presented. The only thing is it's a little dated on memory lane but understand it's being upgraded in September and also felt there could be a bit more activities laid on, maybe a singer or little group.

When my nan became unwell, she went into hospital and couldn't go home. As a family, we made the decision to find a care home and found Barchester Ashminster House Care Home and what a decision we made. We can't fault the care she was provided from beginning to end. After four very bad weeks at home, Barchester Ashminster House Care Home took my father in for a two-week respite care. I can't recommend this home enough. From the first call to the last day, everyone was caring and professional. The nurse was amazing and went above and beyond to care for my, sometimes difficult, father. Our mum has been at Barchester Ashminster House Care Home for just over two years now and I would again like to thank all the staff for everything they do. Nothing is too much trouble and the dedicated care, love and kindness everyone gives consistently shines through. Mum is very happy and settled and it is a pleasure to spend time with her and the other residents and staff at Ashminster House.

I would like to give special mentions to the catering team whose culinary skills are outstanding, the domestic team for keeping everything so spotlessly clean and tidy, and the entertainment/activities team who are constantly thinking of new ways to get to know and stimulate the residents so that all can join in and enjoy the activities. Thank you also for making us feel so welcome every time we visit, we really do feel part of the Ashminster House extended family.

My mum has been at Ashminster for over five years. She had her 79th birthday in September, and as always, the manager and all staff went out of their way to make it a very special day for Mum and us as a family; we used the family room and had a party.
My mum is in the later stages of Dementia, and the care Mum receives from all the staff is outstanding - a real family feel to the home.

All the staff are excellent, go the extra mile, and are welcoming, friendly and caring, and I can sleep at night knowing my precious mum is receiving the best care.

Hello, my name is Kim; I am delighted to join Ashminster House and be part of the Barchester family.

I was a single mum for many years, bringing up my two boys, who are now grown men, my eldest having given me three gorgeous little girls, who have become an enormous part of my life and bring great joy. They are also rather exhausting in a lovely way!

I have had a love of theatre and dance from the age of two, when I visited a dancing school with my mother and disappeared only to be found in a ballet class. Over the years, I have danced, helped out in the dancing school when I was older and performed in many annual dancing shows. At the age of 17, I joined an amateur theatre group, dancing in many musicals and pantomimes. At the age of 19, I moved to Surbiton, where I joined the most amazing youth theatre and have many happy memories of the shows that I had the pleasure of being part of, either as a member of the cast or as a choreographer at our theatre opposite Hampton Court Palace or at youth festivals overseas.

I have worked in many different industries over the years, which include financial, corporate, funeral/care and the arts, one of which was the Royal Academy of Ballet, which was a dream come true. After being single for 22 years, I met my partner Phil, who I have been with for 14 years, and we recently moved to our first joint home in Egerton, which brings us a lot of joy…..especially the Christmas tractors lit up which go through the village!

I no longer dance but still embrace going to the theatre, this time as a member of the audience, and can’t wait to take my granddaughters to share and hopefully pass my passion onto them.
