The team supported my step Dad brilliantly. This allowed him to recover and find the determination to get home. Instead of having doubts about food and medication regime at home, they were detailed and on top of things. They were kind and thoughtful and friendly too. It is a difficult time and brilliant to have a professional and efficient team of complimentary skills there at a time of acute need.
We are delighted to hear that your stepdad received such excellent care during his stay with us. It is particularly rewarding to know that our team's support, attention to his food and medication needs, and compassionate approach...
This was a well run home, staffed by friendly, caring and professional staff. It was the first time my wife had stayed in a care home and I had no qualms about leaving her there. The home was clean and tidy, and the staff did a great job in keeping both the home and residents cool in some very hot weather. The food was nutritious and varied, and meal times were well managed to cater for the wide variety of residents.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your wifes first stay with us gave you such confidence and reassurance. Your kind words about our caring team, the cleanliness of the home, the quality of our meals, and the efforts made to keep everyone comfortable during...
The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, from the moment you step through the door. The home is beautifully decorated & furnished evoking a home from home feel. Ashminster's facilities are second to none, with so much freedom for those who need closer monitoring without being obtrusive. Comfort & cleanliness come as standard, staff are approachable & go the extra mile. With extensive menus, delicious food & lots of engaging activities there is something for everyone. Well done Ashminster.

Surrirdar is a lovely lady.

I would recommend Barchester Ashminster House Care Home to others. Nothing is too much troubled for the staff.
My mum is a resident here and she is very happy all the staff are friendly & there attention to detail is excellent, she has recently moved from one unit to another and is treated with excellent care just as before.
He is open, listening and very keen to support the residents and staff and has already made such an improvement to my partners stay in Ashminster (my partner very poorly at present)
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind feedback. It means a great deal to hear that the changes we are making are already having a positive impact on your partners experience. Ensuring that residents feel supported, listened to, and cared for is at the heart of everything we do,...
Staff are friendly and approachable. All know my wife evidenced by the way she reacts to them, big beaming smile. The food is excellent she eats it all, when able I can feed her meals to her
Thank you for your amazing comments and the team appreciates your words of recognition.
This was my fathers third visit for respite care. This time he was put in a different unit more suited to him and we never seen him so happy. All staff are amazing and my dad has had a lovely time.
Thank you for taking the time to review Ashminster House and for your warm words. Your words of kindness will be shared with the team. We enjoyed caring for your father.
My husband has been at Ashminster House Care Home for 3 1/2 years and in all that time, he has been treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff in mine and the family's eyes are the best. They go above and beyond. They care and you know that someone who means a lot to you is in safe hands. The staff become like family to you, which is a wonderful feeling as it is also very genuine. I could praise them and fill pages saying. But thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you so much for takin the time to write such a heartfelt review of the care your husband receives from the team. It is our honour to not only care for him, but also to welcome you and your family into our home.
My husband has plenty of good food at Ashminster (varied diet). Also excellent medical care by the team all the staff are very friendly to both residents and relatives. There are many activities including singers who come regularly to entertain personal care is very good (shower/hairwash). My husband has regular haircuts and looks good. The carers are very polite also and very hardworking. If any issues arise they are quickly dealt with.
Thank you for taking the time to review your husbands care in our home. We are so pleased that you find his diet with us to be varied and that he looks good with his regular hair cuts. Our care should always be more than just washing and dressing and it is so lovely to hear that you are witness to the hard work of the team
I find Barchester Ashminster House Care Home to be a really caring, person-centred and happy place. Staff are always friendly with time to give any answers to questions you may ask.
A spa bath is available for residents. Complete with chair winch for safely getting in and out.
The general shower room is large but does lack support handrails, a shower chair is available to sit whilst washing.
There are excellent teams onsite for nursing, caring, activities and entertainment, laundry, catering and maintenance.
Thank you for your words of kindness, this will be shared with the team. It means so much when you share your positives experiences and recognise the hard work our teams do.
My husband was here on two weeks respite. Overall, was very happy, staff were lovely and very welcoming, especially one member of staff who was such a lovely, caring lady. The amount of food and drink is outstanding and all very fresh and well-cooked. My husband was always clean and well-presented. The only thing is it's a little dated on memory lane but understand it's being upgraded in September and also felt there could be a bit more activities laid on, maybe a singer or little group.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We really value your feedback as it helps us to continue to deliver a great service to those in our care.
When my nan became unwell, she went into hospital and couldn't go home. As a family, we made the decision to find a care home and found Barchester Ashminster House Care Home and what a decision we made. We can't fault the care she was provided from beginning to end. The staff to management were fantastic! Sadly, Nan passed away but the last memories we have are amazing.
Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot. It was a pleasure having your nan stay with us, we all grew very attached to her and she will be missed. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can help in any way.
Everyone was always helpful, genuinely caring, efficient and professional helping us to feel that he was in the best possible place and being well looked after. You all do a great job and always with a smile! With thanks from all our family.
Thank you for your kind words. It means so much when you share your positive experiences and recognise the hard work our teams do. We will make sure your feedback is shared with our team.
After four very bad weeks at home, Barchester Ashminster House Care Home took my father in for a two-week respite care. I can't recommend this home enough. From the first call to the last day, everyone was caring and professional. The nurse was amazing and went above and beyond to care for my, sometimes difficult, father. All staff were very good and I felt like part of the family, not just a number.
Thank you for your words of kindness. It was a pleasure to have your father stay with us. Please come and visit us again at one of our events or just pop in for a cup of tea.
I would like to give special mentions to the catering team whose culinary skills are outstanding, the domestic team for keeping everything so spotlessly clean and tidy, and the entertainment/activities team who are constantly thinking of new ways to get to know and stimulate the residents so that all can join in and enjoy the activities. Thank you also for making us feel so welcome every time we visit, we really do feel part of the Ashminster House extended family.
Thank you for your kind-hearted compliments. I look forward to sharing your kind compliments with my team, whom I am sure will be grateful for the recognition of their hard work.
My mum is in the later stages of Dementia, and the care Mum receives from all the staff is outstanding - a real family feel to the home.
All the staff are excellent, go the extra mile, and are welcoming, friendly and caring, and I can sleep at night knowing my precious mum is receiving the best care.
Dear Jane, thank you for your kind words. These words of kindness will be shared with the staff.

Meet the Team (12)

Hi, I’m Ana, and I'm the general manager here at Ashminster House.
I graduated as a nurse back in Romania in 2015, and arrived in the UK in the same year, when I started my nursing career.
I joined Ashminster House in May 2019. I have a passion for caring for the elderly, and that makes my job so interesting and fulfilling. I aim to ensure that the residents in my care enjoy the highest standard of care and that they are always comfortable and safe.

I have previously worked in retail for over 30 years, working my way up to management level, dealing with HR and the financial side of the business. I have now been with Barchester for over 3 years, and I absolutely love it. The interaction I have with our residents and families is very rewarding. I am very proud to be working for a company that puts person-centred care at the heart of everything we do. I look forward to meeting and helping you in any way I can.

Admin Assistant
Hello, my name is Kim; I am delighted to join Ashminster House and be part of the Barchester family.
I was a single mum for many years, bringing up my two boys, who are now grown men, my eldest having given me three gorgeous little girls, who have become an enormous part of my life and bring great joy. They are also rather exhausting in a lovely way!
I have had a love of theatre and dance from the age of two, when I visited a dancing school with my mother and disappeared only to be found in a ballet class. Over the years, I have danced, helped out in the dancing school when I was older and performed in many annual dancing shows. At the age of 17, I joined an amateur theatre group, dancing in many musicals and pantomimes. At the age of 19, I moved to Surbiton, where I joined the most amazing youth theatre and have many happy memories of the shows that I had the pleasure of being part of, either as a member of the cast or as a choreographer at our theatre opposite Hampton Court Palace or at youth festivals overseas.
I have worked in many different industries over the years, which include financial, corporate, funeral/care and the arts, one of which was the Royal Academy of Ballet, which was a dream come true. After being single for 22 years, I met my partner Phil, who I have been with for 14 years, and we recently moved to our first joint home in Egerton, which brings us a lot of joy…..especially the Christmas tractors lit up which go through the village!I no longer dance but still embrace going to the theatre, this time as a member of the audience, and can’t wait to take my granddaughters to share and hopefully pass my passion onto them.

I began working at Ashminster House in February 2015 as a Care Assistant while awaiting my registration with the NMC. Since receiving my registration, I have been employed as a Registered Nurse at Ashminster House. I am deeply passionate and dedicated to my role, and I take great pride in working collaboratively with my team to deliver person-centred care in line with Barchester’s standards.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring nature through regular walks.

Sabrina began working at Ashminster House in 2008 as a Care Assistant.
She has developed her skills and successfully gained both Level 2 & 3 Health and Social Care Vocational Qualifications and has also now completed our In-House Care Practitioner Programme.
Sabrina currently leads our very homely Residential Dementia Unit with her team.
In her own time, Sabrina enjoys spending time with her family.

I have worked at Ashminster House since 2003, first as a carer, then progressing to an 'Activities Co-ordinator', now re-titled 'Head of Lifestyle'. I have a wealth of experience in my role as well as NVQs in Health and Social Care, Activities in the Care Setting and Dementia.
I am passionate about fulfilling residents' everyday life, by getting to know the individual residents with a person-centred approach, finding out about their experiences and helping them to express themselves, for example, through reminiscing with items of old.
My interests outside of work include antiques, dogs and spending time with my family.

I started work at Ashminster House in February 2020. I have experience working in Nursing Homes and Hospitals as a Maintenance & Installation Engineer. I am a Qualified Plumber and I enjoy my job very much.
When I am off duty, I like to spend time with my family and produce rock music as an amateur musician.

Job Title: Head Chef
Joined: 06/01/2025
My name is Matthew, and I am the Head Chef of Ashminster House Care Home. I joined the Barchester team in January 2025, and I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and delighting our residents with my culinary creations and promoting their wellbeing. I’m a qualified NVQ level 2 Chef.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring on my motorbike and indulging in fishing.

Hi, my name is Selma, and I am the Head Housekeeper of Ashminster House Care Home.
I joined the Barchester team in August 2024, and I enjoy spending time with the residents and hearing their life stories. They are very fascinating people. No two days are ever the same.
I have a career history working within the NHS and hotels as either a domestic Assistant or head housekeeper. I have always taken pride in my roles.
I love family time, and find so much happiness when my family and I are out walking my 2 little cockapoo puppies, or spending time at home with the family. I'm a big animal lover and own 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 turtles.

I joined Ashminster House team in October 2015 as a care assistant whist working to be a registered as a nurse. After I received my pin in February 2016 I started working as a registered nurse and now I am head of unit nurse of Windmill lodge and I am very happy to use my clinical skills to improve quality of care for all residents. I am very passionate and dedicated to my role and enjoy working alongside my team to provide personal cantered care to our residents.
In my own time, I enjoy spending time with my family and to admire the beauties of nature in all seasons.

I have been a registered nurse for 38 years, with the past 24 years devoted to the care home sector. I currently hold the position of Unit Manager on Memory Lane, our specialist dementia care unit. In addition to my nursing career, I served as a Special Constable with Kent Police for 22 and a half years. I am also a semi-professional close-up magician.
I take great pride in my role at Ashminster, where the strong professional bonds among the staff contribute significantly to a supportive and effective working environment.

I began working as a Care Assistant at Ashminster House in 2019 and was promoted to Team Leader in 2020. I take great pride in my role and am committed to providing person-centred care to all residents. Building meaningful emotional connections with those I support is an important and rewarding aspect of my work.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring new places.
