Lovely, kind, caring staff. Looked after our dad amazingly, and couldn't ask for a better place for our dad to spend his last years.
Able to visit at any time and also gave time to check on us as well.
The entertainment, and crafting for residents are daily so there is always something going on.

Nan has been at Betsy Clara House Nursing Home since her diagnosis when it was deemed she was no longer able to look after herself almost 2 years ago. The staff go over and above to provide for their residents who they treat like family. There is always an activity going on to keep everyone entertained
and even during Covid, the staff did their very best to make sure we were still able to visit and celebrate the special occasions. Well done Betsy Clara.

My mum has been in Betsy Clara House Nursing Home since February 2022.
We had teething problems at the beginning but these were always addressed with us. Mum is now fairly settled, is well fed and cared for. The staff work hard to keep the service users happy and entertained. It is like having an extended
family now. Thank you to the manager and staff.

This is an extremely well run home with staff members who genuinely care for their residents. My mother is looked after very well and we are confident to leave her in their care. Communication is also very good and we are kept informed. Phone calls are always dealt with in a courteous and friendly way
giving sound advice when it is needed.
Betsy Clara is a great place to live in and visit and we truly believed that its management and staff are all stars.

My Father had a three-month stay in Betsy Clara Nursing Home following some poor health and very difficult behaviour due to epileptic seizures. The staff were fantastic with him and he received excellent care particularly in light of the continued stress of managing the Covid situation. The carers are
dedicated to making residents lives the best they can be and we are very grateful for the level of care he received during his time there.

My mum came into Besty Clara at the beginning of October from a residential home. We were a bit worried as she was happy where she was and had been there for some time, but we thought she needed the care of a nursing home. We needn't have been concerned as everyone was so kind, friendly and helpful
and we couldn't have chosen a better home for her to move to.
She has settled in well as she now has a reclining wheelchair and can mix with other residents and enjoy the extensive entertainment programme they have.

My father was transferred to Betsy Clara House following a period of respite care at another nursing home. I am pleased that this happened, as the subsequent care he received for the weeks he was there up until his passing was excellent. Despite the restricted visiting times due to COVID-19, it was
evident that the staff team not only carried out their duties in a conscientious and professional manner, but they clearly cared for the residents on a personal level and showed great compassion and support for visiting family during a deeply distressing time.
It was greatly comforting to know that my father was being treated with dignity, and kept as comfortable as possible - the staff were all absolutely first class - honest, caring and thoughtful. They always went that extra mile.
I am so grateful to Betsy Clara House for all their care and support.

My mother left hospital at the end of July and I never thought she would be capable of leaving her bed. She had suffered several falls over the previous 3 months that resulted in her losing her front teeth, fracturing her cheekbone and causing another bleed on the brain. She could not talk, walk or
swallow and she slept most of the time. She was transferred to Betsy Nursing Home and kept in isolation for the first week. My brother and myself met a member of staff who was one of the ladies looking after mum and when she told us that they would get Mum out of bed, dressed and sitting in the lounge we never expected that to happen. Well, it did. Whenever we visit, we see Mum in the lounge or the garden. Although mums condition is still poor she is relatively happy and we feel good that she is being exceptionally well cared for. All the staff have been excellent. The Betsy Nursing Home is more like a home than we could wish for.

My father moved to Betsy Clara towards the end of his life. He was deeply unhappy in his previous home and they could not cater for his needs. Dad had dementia and was disabled. His dream was to see the sky once more and feel the sun on his face, and he got to do that in Betsy Clara. Shortly before
he died I saw him in the garden and it felt like he was being looked after by family. The staff were absolutely wonderful . They desperately tried to make dad as comfortable as possible and as happy as possible. I remember saying to him, "wow, dad. It is so lovely to see you out in here in the garden" and he replied with a smile "Good, isn't it!"
My sister recalls him saying to her that "they are really nice to me here " something he had never said in his previous home. I wish Dad had been moved to Betsy Clara sooner, I can not thank everyone enough for the amazing care they gave my dad.

When my father-in-law was admitted to Betsy Clara, he was very confused, had no get up and go and didn't appear to want to be around. However, through the dedication and love, he was given by the staff, they made him a "new man". He gained weight and confidence and started to enjoy life again. They
were brilliant, and I have the highest praise for them and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Besty Clara care home.

I cannot praise the staff at Betsy Clara Nursing Home highly enough. Their support, care and respect shown to my father were first class. Too many people to thank, they were absolutely grilling throughout my fathers stay there and they turned him around from a rather frail and distant person into someone

My dad has very challenging behaviour as a result of chronic delirium but Betsy Clara have treated my dad with kindness and understanding and for the first time in months my dad is settling and is finding happiness. He has improved both physically and mentally as a result of the quality of care he is

Dad was very ill when he first went here, but within two weeks, he had completely changed for the better. The staff at Betsy go above and beyond. I am glad to have found this home for my Dad; he’s now much worse, and they are brilliant.

On the whole, I have found Mum's care to be good during the 2 1/2 years she has been there. The nursing staff are patient, friendly and she gets on well with them all. The admin staff are very helpful too. Mum likes the food and some of the activities, although she does sometimes get a bit bored. It
is better now that she is taken out of her room for breakfast and spends most of her day in the lounge with the other residents, as she was a bit isolated in her room. We have had a few instances of Mum's personal possessions going missing which we have raised with the staff.

Looking back now, we realise how fortunate we were that Betsy Clara had a room available for my mum who had dementia. Up until then, we had viewed other nursing homes that were nowhere near the standard of Betsy Clara. Taking the huge step to place my mum in a nursing home was an extremely difficult
time for our family, however, the initial kindness we were all shown has never changed throughout the time my mum was a resident. The care and dignity of treatment given to my mum by every single member of the fantastic staff were always consistent, her wellbeing was constantly monitored and there was always time for someone to hold her hand or make her laugh. She was always washed and clothed respectfully and she had her hair cut and styled with the onsite hairdresser and nails painted as often as she wanted. The quality of food produced in the kitchen was absolutely fabulous every single day. All in all, a truly wrap around care experience for all our family.

We moved my mother here after five years in a different care home. We could not have made a better move and the contrast has been significant. The atmosphere is so home-like and calm. The staff here are incredible, truly caring and clearly passionate about their work. The residents are happy and the
activities cater to all cognitive abilities. The manager is always available and interacts with the residents which says a lot about the environment she has worked hard to create. I highly recommend Betsy Clara - you will be truly fortunate to find a place here for a loved one.

I have been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, the last 8 of them as manager at Betsy Clara. Before this, I had many work experiences, including NHS hospitals, Community Nursing, a Hospice and several other Nursing Homes.


I enjoy working with the residents and our close-knit team, as a family are at the centre of everything we do. We promote a sense of family within the home, caring for everyone and getting to know our individual residents’ likes and dislikes so that we can provide genuine individualised person-centred care.


We have been on a long journey with our residents and are constantly striving to develop new and better ways of supporting them to live the best life they can with us and their families.”

As the Deputy Manager position became available with the knowledge and skills I gained, it gave me the confidence to apply for the role, and I was successful. In this role, I aim to create a happy, safe, homely environment for our residents.”

“I began my career in hospitality, where I was part of a small family-run restaurant. While working there, I applied to university and completed a Level 5 in Health & Social Care Management to pursue a career in a care home setting. This would allow me to gain the skills and knowledge to become part of a successful management team.


While at university, I was on a placement in some care homes and hospital settings, which I enjoyed. This made me realise that this was the career I wanted.


Once I gained my qualification, I left our family business to join Betsy Clara House in 2019, where I first started as part of the care team. I enjoyed my role here, learning about different types of dementia and how many residents were suffering from this disease; although many residents have the same dementia, they all have other traits and require personalised care and treatment.


Then came the opportunity to enrol on the CHAP course, where I would learn additional skills around medication, catheter care, venepuncture, wounds and end-of-life care using the syringe driver.


My current role within Betsy Clara is Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP), where I work alongside our nursing team.”
