On the whole, I have found Mum's care to be good during the 2 1/2 years she has been there. The nursing staff are patient, friendly and she gets on well with them all. The admin staff are very helpful too. Mum likes the food and some of the activities, although she does sometimes get a bit bored. It
is better now that she is taken out of her room for breakfast and spends most of her day in the lounge with the other residents, as she was a bit isolated in her room. We have had a few instances of Mum's personal possessions going missing which we have raised with the staff.

Looking back now, we realise how fortunate we were that Betsy Clara had a room available for my mum who had dementia. Up until then, we had viewed other nursing homes that were nowhere near the standard of Betsy Clara. Taking the huge step to place my mum in a nursing home was an extremely difficult
time for our family, however, the initial kindness we were all shown has never changed throughout the time my mum was a resident. The care and dignity of treatment given to my mum by every single member of the fantastic staff were always consistent, her wellbeing was constantly monitored and there was always time for someone to hold her hand or make her laugh. She was always washed and clothed respectfully and she had her hair cut and styled with the onsite hairdresser and nails painted as often as she wanted. The quality of food produced in the kitchen was absolutely fabulous every single day. All in all, a truly wrap around care experience for all our family.

We moved my mother here after five years in a different care home. We could not have made a better move and the contrast has been significant. The atmosphere is so home-like and calm. The staff here are incredible, truly caring and clearly passionate about their work. The residents are happy and the
activities cater to all cognitive abilities. The manager is always available and interacts with the residents which says a lot about the environment she has worked hard to create. I highly recommend Betsy Clara - you will be truly fortunate to find a place here for a loved one.

I have seen an improvement in my friend since moving to Betsy Clara in Loose. The atmosphere of the home is calm and it has a good feeling as you walk in. The residents always appear happy and calm.
The staff are all kind and considerate and really care for their residents.
I would have no hesitation
in recommending this home/care provider to anybody.

My over-riding impression of Betsy Clara is that it's a happy place. The staff always have a smile on their faces despite the challenging job they do. I leave my aunt confident in the knowledge that she is warm, safe, well fed and being looked after.
My only suggestion would be that the residents are
encouraged to exercise and move around more as they just seem to sit all day.

I have difficulty writing.
Care given by staff first class.
Doctors don't seem to take care of their patients, take too long to support their patients.
Patients wait for too long for their medicines to be issued.

My mum was accepted into Betsy Clara House in October this year. It is always a difficult decision but everyone at the home was so welcoming and friendly. Every time I visit I feel part of the family there and Mum is always well looked after and is safe and comfortable. She knows the staff who are
always smiling and friendly and very approachable and has made friends. As a relative newbie, I am still asking questions but nothing is too much trouble for them. I now feel so relieved that Mum is somewhere clean, warm, comfortable and welcoming.
I would not hesitate in recommending this care home.

On each occasion, I have visited my sister in Betsy Clara. I have met different members of staff and each one is extremely caring, always smiling and a credit to their manager who must have interviewed them and employed them. They make me so welcome when I am there. My sister's room is so clean and
tidy and all her needs are met with care and compassion. If I were ever in need of a nursing home myself - that would be my choice!

Very good attentive and pleasant staff. This was my first visit and my brothers and sister were already happy with everything.

I noticed a massive positive change in my father who was very happy indeed. Such a shame all care homes are very expensive.

Care staff are caring and attentive to the resident's needs. Every effort is given to ensure continuity of staff, thus giving a

My father was a resident of Betsy Clara for 2+ years. The care and attention he received was always of the highest quality and meant that he was able to finish his life with friends, not staff and was able to pass on with dignity and care and with someone by his side.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.766)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Betsy Clara House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.941 for Betsy Clara House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (145 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 153 Ratings = 4.941
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Betsy Clara House Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
