Wonderful care home with amazing staff. They looked after my mum who was in rehabilitation. They also took great care in looking after ourselves too. They made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough to help us all. One staff member, in particular, was amazing, making sure we were well looked after
with plenty of tea and cake! Every single staff member played a massive part in making my mum's stay, a home-from-home experience.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure to look after your mum. We would be delighted to help again if needed.

My mother was in the care of Brabourne for eight years until she sadly passed away in July. Throughout her time at Brabourne, she was very well cared for and always clean and well groomed. In her early years at Brabourne, she enjoyed time in the lounge with friends she made, finding an interest in new
hobbies and always loved to participate in the entertainment provided. When covid arrived it was a challenging time for staff, residents and family, but Brabourne did absolutely the very best they possibly could in such difficult circumstances. Spending eight years at Brabourne, Mum got to know many of the staff really well and was lucky enough to have continuity of care throughout her time there, with many of the same staff caring for her from the day she arrived until the day she sadly passed away. During Mum's last few days the staff were very kind to my brother and me, helping to guide us through such a difficult time and showed true compassion and care. Thank you to all at Brabourne.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you for your kind and thoughtful words, which we appreciate all the more at this difficult and sad time for you and the family. It was our privilege to care for your mum for 8 years, she will be sadly missed. We are here to support you over the coming weeks and months. If you need us, please feel able to drop by at any time.

Mum suffers from Alzheimer's, late-onset and we needed to find her some respite care whilst taking a family break. Brabourne Care team were fantastic and carefully and compassionately guiding us through the whole process. Mum was made to feel welcome and settled with ease. The professional nursing and
level of care she needed was tailored exactly to her individual requirements. I would have no hesitation in recommending Brabourne Care Centre and will be forever grateful.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you for your kind comments, our team will be delighted to read them. We hope we are able to welcome your mum back for another visit and to support the family at anytime you need us.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Staff and management have no intentions to honour their policies or promises to right wrongs. The most vulnerable patients lives put at risk due to staff failing to answer buzzer, the excuse offered by management "a power cut" which is more alarming as it happened
all day every day. Allowing patients with compromised mental capacity to choose and eat totally inappropriate meals for their dietary needs. I requested several times a complaints form and was finally sent what looked like a primary school child's homework, ridiculously unprofessional for serious issues. Family members attended a meeting with management but came away with nothing but lame excuses.
Reply from Genieve Rodrigues, Care Home Manager at Brabourne Care CentreWe are deeply sorry that you feel this way, we continually strive to achieve first-class care for all our residents. A thorough investigation has been undertaken by both the Regulatory and Local Authorities and this has been concluded to their satisfaction. Again, I can only apologise for the distress caused across the various hospital/care establishments that you encountered and offer my reassurance that we work hard to continually learn and improve.

Our mother moved to Brabourne Care Centre in April 2022 for end of life care. We are very happy that she spent her last three weeks there. The staff were very welcoming and caring to our mother as well as to us, her family. She was always clean and well taken care of. The staff members communicated
clearly with us and our mother, who also had dementia. When we realised that it was near the end for our mother, they allowed family members to be with her around the clock, so we were there in the final moments. We are very grateful to Brabourne Care Centre and their staff.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to write your review, whilst grieving the loss of your mother. We were privileged to spend time with your mum and your family and we thank you for trusting her into our care. She will be sadly missed.

What I really appreciated at Brabourne Care Centre was the availability, the support and the kindness of the leading staff for both the resident and the resident’s family. They do their very best to keep the family informed, involved and to accommodate the resident’s needs. That is so much appreciated.
The carers are also very nice, very helpful and very respectful toward the residents. They take their time and are very calm with everyone. The bedroom is kept very clean and the newly refurbished lounge and dining room make the residents feel positive, relaxed and at home.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you for your kind words and thoughtful review. We like to work in partnership with families and place emphasis on keeping everyone fully informed. Our staff will really appreciate your positive comments on the care we provide and the homely environment we offer, thank you again.

My husband is a resident in Brabourne Home. I have found that my husband is well looked after and cared for by all the staff, who are most helpful when I need help and advice. This is my husband's second stay and I have been self-funding with the hope of him becoming a permanent resident with the help
of the government, in your facility.

Mum was settled in very quickly. Our major concern was Mum's care. The staff are just lovely and we feel Mum is treated with dignity and respect and the staff are kind to Mum. The home is an hour at least drive, however, no way would we move Mum closer, as the care and kindness are our major priority.
Thank you, Brabourne.

The delivery of medication to patients seems a bit erratic, especially in the evenings and the night staff have a poor understanding of English, to be able to understand the needs of a vulnerable patient.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreWe're sorry that you feel we have fallen short on delivering the first-class care that we aim for and pride ourselves on. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experiences and undertake a thorough review. All our staff are highly trained and speak English to the required British standards, again we are sorry if an incident has led you to doubt this, and we would welcome more insights into the occasions you mention. If you can discuss the specifics directly with us, we are always willing to listen and learn. Offering the highest quality of care for our elderly residents is our passion.

As I can't use names, I would like to say that all the people who had dealings with my mother were excellent. Caring and professional staff. I found the menu didn't cater for vegetarians but staff were happy to buy in if required. My only concern was a diet rather too focused of dairy which was a problem with high cholesterol. Often staff shortages appeared to put pressure on nurses and carers but there was
no decline in their ability to do the job with a positive and kind attitude. Efficient cleaning and laundry (done with a smile.) I felt confident with the physio support.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Brabourne Care CentreThank you for your constructive and valuable feedback. It gives the staff a real boost to know that families and residents acknowledge their commitment and dedication. I have passed on your concerns about the nutritional merits of the vegetarian menu to our chef and manager. We would welcome the opportunity to talk with you directly and involve you in reviewing the menu further. Once again thank you for taking the time to share your experience and your kind support.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Brabourne Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.855 for Brabourne Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (401 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 463 Ratings = 4.855
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brabourne Care Centre is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 82 registered maximum number of service users is 16.4, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
