My family visit our father regularly, we are always made welcome by staff members. We have attended family events which have been excellent. There are activities for residents frequently and regularly, and they make use of the lovely garden when the weather allows. We feel our father is well cared for at Eglantine Villa, he even says that himself, and he loves the food.

Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at Eglantine Villa Care Home

Well where do i begin. My mum Ruth has been at Eglantine for nearly 3 years. From the moment she arrived the staff have cared for her like she was one of their own family members. This has taken the pressure off me and the family as when i visit she is not very nice to me most of the time.
On May 18th it was mum's 100th birthday. The staff were wonderful and layed on a beautiful afternoon tea fit for a queen just as mum had asked for. There was family, staff and residents and my son's dog.
A singer of mum's choice.
She was in the local paper.
She received nearly 300 birthday cards
A special cake was made with Arsenal in mind
She received a letter from the manager of Arsenal
The card from the King
I am not sure i could have done this all on my own. Mum and our family really had a birthday to remember.

All of this possibly because of one special group of people. The unsung carers, staff at Eglantine Care Home Horton Kirby. Thank you.

In May my Aunt Ruth celebrated her 100th birthday. The amazing staff at Eglantine care home made the celebration one to remember. Nothing was too much for them. They included all the residents and lots of staff. We had a lovely afternoon tea with live music, and sing along. One member of staff made an amazing cake decorated with Ruth's favourite football club colours. We sang all afternoon and some of the residents managed a dance or two.

We are so greatful for the care they give her, she is very happy and thankful for her continued good health. Long May it last

My dear aunt is a resident at Eglantine and has dementia. I follow her on your social media page. She seems so happy there. I am most impressed with the number of activities you do to keep the residents active and happy. She celebrated her 100th birthday in May and I attended the tea party Eglantine put on for her. It was amazing. From the DJ to the decorations, food and even personalised goody bags. They even arranged for my aunt to receive 100 birthday cards, which ended up over nearly 300. The staff are so caring, you couldn't ask for anything more.

My dad was asked what he loved the most, being February, the month of love. He replied, having a steak meal with his family! Eglantine provided this for him and 5 members of his family. A three course meal with wine, chocolates, tea and coffee in a private room. We were waited on and made to feel very special. It was a fantastic experience for him as we used to do this with him weekly. Thank you so much for his wish coming true.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives at the Care Home. She has been there for several months now. My mum has dementia so it is very important to me that she is treated with patience, understanding, and kindness, and the staff truly deliver this every day. They always show her dignity and respect, which gives me great comfort.

My husband became a resident at Eglantine Villa on an end-of-life prognosis. He had a partial amputation and has been confined to a bed since his operation.

Due to the excellent care and medical attention at the age of 94, he is maintaining a good quality of life. He has formed a pleasant relationship with the carers and medical staff and is happy in his surroundings. He feels secure in his own room and prefers not to participate in the activities.

The care home is in a beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful. The gardens are well managed. All staff are friendly and helpful. Care staff treat residents with kindness and respect. My Mum came to stay at Eglantine in April and so far seems to have thrived. I feel that it is the staff that makes the difference here - they are all amazing. When we visit we are made to feel welcome and when family travel from further afield they are offered lunch and refreshments too which is really great. My Mum has her issues with the food but I can't really see what the problem is (and she always seems to eat it).

The gardens are beautiful and are kept immaculate, the residents all have the opportunity to sit outside when the weather permits. Mum particularly enjoys watching the squirrels and birds. The activities and entertainment is fantastic - there always seems to be something going on and all of the residents are encouraged to join in.

We didn't have any experience with nursing homes and visited a few before choosing Eglantine but I really feel that my Mum is in the best place and is receiving the very best care.

Care home manager very approachable, helpful and easy to talk to, as are all the staff.

Very difficult for my husband to deal with this change in his life, but with his sense of humour and that of the staff he is getting there.

Bryony John
Bryony JohnJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2012

Hello - my name is Bryony, and I am the home manager at Eglantine Villa. I started working for Bupa in 2012 as a care assistant before moving into admin roles. In 2018, I knew that my real passion was for care and how it can make a difference in people's lives, so I did some additional training and became a deputy manager at a 100-bed care home supporting those with nursing and residential needs. I became a home manager in 2020 and have now managed Eglantine Villa since 2022 alongside a fantastic team of carers, nurses, heads of department and support staff.

My favourite part of my job is meeting new people, hearing residents' life stories, alleviating worry from families and watching how our residents can flourish in our care. Our residents become part of our family, and I’m really proud of the service we provide. I genuinely love my job; there is variety in my role, and I laugh every day with my team and residents. I would never do anything else.

Outside of work, I love travelling to new places or countries, spending time with my family and friends, going out for walks and listening to music. I’m a proud, fun Auntie to 4 gorgeous nieces and nephews and have a French bulldog, Beau, who you may sometimes see at Eglantine Villa, enjoying lots of attention (and biscuits!) from the residents.

Adeola Tikare
Adeola TikareJob Title:Clinical Deputy ManagerJoined: 2025

I joined Bupa as a clinical deputy manager in 2025.

My career in the care home sector spans 15 years, beginning as a carer before progressing to deputy manager in 2016. After three years in that role, I took time out to return to education and completed my nursing degree at the University of Greenwich. Following this, I returned to the care home environment, once again stepping into the deputy manager position.

Working in care services gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day. I am passionate about caring with kindness and empathy, learning from others, and feeling fulfilled through the work I do. I also take great pride in mentoring those who are new to care and seeing them grow into confident leaders within the sector.

Outside of work, I am married with two children—a boy and a girl—and I treasure spending time with my family, who mean everything to me. I enjoy listening to music and travelling, and I live locally to the home.

Carl Allen
Carl AllenJob Title:Chef ManagerJoined: 2021

I’ve been part of Bupa for over five years, beginning my journey as a kitchen assistant before stepping into my current role as chef manager. My career started in the hospitality industry, which I found both rewarding and enjoyable, but I reached a point where I wanted something more meaningful.

When the opportunity arose to join a care home, I realised it was a chance to explore a new direction—one where I could see the impact of my cooking every day. Getting to know the residents, hearing their stories, and working closely with the care team has given me a sense of purpose that I don’t believe I would have found anywhere else.

I enjoy the positive working environment here. Our home manager is always supportive, and we work well together as a team. The home’s location also suits me, allowing me to balance my responsibilities at work with my life as a devoted husband and father of three beautiful daughters.

I moved to the UK from Jamaica, and I’ve never had any regrets about taking that leap. Outside of work, I’m a big football fan—Arsenal is my team—and I’m genuinely passionate about what I do. Living locally helps me stay closely connected to both my family and the home.

Maria Everest
Maria EverestJob Title:Senior Activity Co-ordinatorJoined: 2024

I have been the senior activity coordinator for a year, having previously worked as a carer here at Eglantine for a year before moving into activities. I am a mum and a former preschool practitioner, so caring comes naturally to me. I have always had a passion for events, creativity and bringing joy to others. After spending time as a stay?at?home mum, Eglantine felt like the perfect place to return to work—both for my family and for myself.

I feel genuinely privileged to work in a care home setting and to be a constant presence in our residents’ lives. Having the opportunity to enrich their days and support their well-being is something I hold a deep passion for, and I pride myself on always going the extra mile.

My greatest passion and achievement in life is my family. Raising my six children and encouraging them to become confident, capable and kind adults has been the greatest honour. My friends also mean everything to me; I lost my mum at a very young age, and my friends have been my strength and constant support throughout my life.

I love all things dramatic, especially West End shows and events. I live fairly locally to Eglantine and am committed to helping build strong, meaningful connections between our wonderful home and the local community.

Nichola Clark
Nichola ClarkJob Title:ReceptionistJoined: 2025

I joined the home at the end of 2025 and quickly settled into my role. My career with Bupa began back in 2011, when I worked as a receptionist at another Bupa home until 2018. After gaining further experience elsewhere, I’m delighted to have returned to Bupa in a role I truly enjoy.

Before entering the care sector, I owned my own public house, followed by a haulage business that I ran with my husband. In 2011, I made the move into care as a nursing home receptionist, later progressing to an administrator role with another company. My background in customer service, administration and community-focused work naturally led me back to Bupa, where I’m pleased to continue supporting residents, families and colleagues.

What I enjoy most about working in care is the residents. Every day brings new conversations, stories and the chance to meet different people, which makes the role incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, I’m married with two grown-up children. I enjoy motor sports, reading, and meeting up with friends. I live just four miles from the home, which helps me stay closely connected to the community.
