As a family, we are immensely grateful for the impeccable care our eighty year old mum receives at Harbledown Lodge Nursing Home.
I have never once turned up to visit mum and felt anything other than good will towards the staff, all of which, without exception, tend to her needs with compassion and
understanding.
A big ask, but she is always clean, (arms and legs creamed to help with her scratching) has her pain relief given in a timely way and topped up if her pain is too much.
Whenever l turn up mum is always calm, comfortable and warm, which means the world to us as her family living our lives on the outside.
The peace of mind this gives us is immeasurable.
She always gets a doctor's visit as soon as her vital signs show any signs of a COPD exacerbation.
This in turn, staves off the need for a hospital stay, allowing her to stay in the comfort of her own bed. Watching the birds and squirrels.


Would highly recommend this care home as the staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Following a fall, my mother became a resident at Harbledown Lodge for over 3 years. I live in Yorkshire and was unable to visit frequently. Having had previous experience of care homes, I have been so much more impressed with the care, understanding and patience that my mother has received. One-to-one
care has been excellent and more recently, the residents have been more involved with activities and visiting entertainment with photos sent to relatives as a record of these events. As my mother's health rapidly deteriorated during the last month, I was kept informed on a daily basis by various members of staff. In her last few days, I witnessed extraordinary love and kindness from them all, quite unprecedented in other homes and hospitals. Knowing my mother was with people who were so fond of her and were with her when she died, will remain a lasting comfort to me and I am extremely grateful to all those concerned. I would certainly recommend Harbledown Lodge.

I am very grateful that the staff at the hospital in Margate suggested that my sister come to Harbledown Lodge. The manager and administrator explained the setup. The nurses and carers are friendly and efficient. The food is good and varied and there are different kinds of drink.

A peaceful home in beautiful natural settings. Staff are friendly and helpful. Mum is being looked after well and is making a good recovery currently. The home is clean and well-maintained. There are many activities going on for the residents. Such as sitting outside on the terrace and doing art and
creative things. Mum hopes to join these activities in the near future.

The staff have been exceptional in their care for my mother. I can be safe in the knowledge that she is receiving the best care, is safe but is also happy. It is very pleasing to see the interactions between my mother and her carers, where you can see genuine warmth between them.

Dad only went into Harbledown Lodge 3 days ago so could not really give excellent for facilities, food and drink and activities as not been there long enough to witness these things but the nursing home is on beautiful grounds and the staff are all very friendly, helpful and kind. They all seem very
loving towards their patients and Dad is treated with dignity.

Each time I visit my Mother is clean and in good spirits. The staff are so caring and polite so I thought to leave a review. The room and building are always immaculate. Mum wasn't coping at home and became bed-bound after a fall, she spent 1 year in hospital and then was lucky to end up in Harbledown
Lodge Canterbury.
I am so happy she is here. I even receive text messages updating me.

Overall the care was good with all needs met health and hygiene. It was difficult to converse either patient/carer wise but it was acceptable considering the complex situation. Slow deterioration over time due to lack of stimulation and long stints in the lounge in his chair. Care of personal clothing
very untidy and disorganised. Other people's clothing in the wardrobe and drawers!

I visit my sister as much as I can as I live in North London and it takes me about 2 hours to drive there. My sister has a main carer. I try to come once a month. I find the staff helpful and friendly.

My father-in-law was treated with the utmost kindness and dignity for the short time he was there. All staff were so welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us as a family going through a very difficult time. Home was very clean and comfortable and we couldn't have asked for more. We cannot
recommend highly enough and were kept informed of everything as it happened and always happy to answer any questions we had. RIP Father-in-law you had a very dignified and peaceful transition.

Very pleasant staff, always helpful and friendly. Keeps the relatives informed, and always place the residents' feelings first. It is a bit of a pain having to remember to book a time to visit the day before, although when I have forgotten and phoned in the morning, it's never been a problem!

My husband was given his own room and allowed his own clothes. The staff were always caring and pleasant, even in difficult circumstances. The room was cleaned daily, swept and washed and the bed changed, sometimes more than once a day. The meals were very good and I was allowed to help my husband with
his meal when I was in, mainly at luntime. He was given a television and a radio. My husband wasn't able to join in any activities and social services paid the cost.

Then, I moved to Harbledown Lodge as a senior carer. I enrolled as a registered nurse in the UK in 2011 and started as a deputy manager at Haydon Mayer care home. I was runner-up for the Kent Nurse Award in 2017, mainly for making a change in people's lives by enabling them to recover and regain their strength for those who were admitted to assessment beds. In between, I nurtured my clinical experience in stroke care and trained on critically ill patients while working at the stroke units at Kent and Canterbury hospitals.
