The Maidstone Care Home manager and staff were very welcoming when my husband was initially admitted to the home 4.5 years ago.
His bedroom was satisfactory, however, there was no TV which surprised me and no fan. The rooms were often too warm, particularly in the summer and the temperature was poorly
regulated. My husband remained in bed day and night and the availability of support pillows were insufficient for his needs.
I would like to give my thanks to the care staff who were mainly from Nepal. They provided excellent care. However, their work hours are long and pay did not reflect the importance of the role. As a result, care staff turnover was high which was unnecessarily confusing for residents.
Thank you also to the maintenance manager at the care home, who worked very hard and kept the home and gardens in good order. Also, the activity coordinators who provided a good range of daily activities for both residents in bed and in the lounge.

Great care. Staff excellent. Facilities are good with lots of entertainment for the residents. My father has a nice room and receives excellent care. The staff know him and his needs and he seems very content and we know he's safe.
Reply from Carol Marsh, General Manager at Maidstone Care CentreThank you for this review and I am glad to hear that Dad is happy and you feel he is safe with us. I know how difficult it is to entrust the care of a loved one myself. This helps people to read about the home from people that know that service already.

Maidstone Care Centre is an excellent care home. The management and staff do an incredible job to make sure the residents are cared for at the highest level. I have yet to see another care home that I would prefer a loved one to be a resident at. Thank you, MCC.

My mother-in-law was recently admitted to this home. It has such a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were hard working and always had time to help. We could even take the dog with us which was so important for her as she loved the dog.
Reply from Carol Marsh, General Manager at Maidstone Care CentreIt is important to us that our home is welcoming and friendly. A lot of our residents get pleasure from seeing animals in the home It is very therapeutic and only last week we had an array of animals visit and we have a pony booked too. It is our residents home first of all.

My mother received the most wonderful care at this home. We were nervous about sending her in but there was no need, this is a real home from home. Fun activities, a great atmosphere and I've actually seen her eating food that she had never tried before, and really enjoying it.
A big thank you to all
at Maidstone Care Centre for the very obvious way in which you care for your residents.

From the very start of my mother-in-law's stay with you, we found the staff to be caring and sympathetic. In her early years on Penbury she was treated with compassion and consideration. After her stroke in February 19, she was bedridden and the staff were kind to her and very gentle. My mother-in-law
was afraid as she had dementia and forgot that people were wanting to help. The staff were aware of this and were extremely kind. At the end, they supported the family and it was a dignified end to my mother-in-law's life.
Reply from Carol Marsh, General Manager at Maidstone Care CentreThank you for your review of our home and the care that staff gave. To have these comments regarding this very difficult time for your family are very precious. That you have such good memories of your Mums final hours and days tells us as a team we achieved our aims. We care for the whole family.

After many weeks of visiting my mother-in-law at the Maidstone Care Centre, we came to know many people, care staff and loads of the residents.
I'm going to miss them all very much.
I wish my mother-in-law was still there, believe me, it wasn't our choice in having her moved.

Generally, the care and support are good however, dignity could be improved in my relative's case. She is in a bed at all times she has on an incontinence pad between her legs most of the time and a top on her upper body not dignified.
I bought a quilt and 2 quilt covers and pillowcases in and these
are not used. The quilt is folded up and is stained and needs washing. My relative has a sheet covering her.

Maidstone Care Centre it is quite excellent. The care and attention given to residents at all times are exceptional. They are all well trained and they all have the commitment, the compassion and the care traits which go toward making them all endearing and respected carers to our relatives in their
good hands.
The staff here are therefore well chosen. Kindness, patience and understanding shine through.

My mother was moved to this care centre from hospital after a fall, she had given up. The staff have helped her back, being moved from hospital ward to dementia ward. Since being on this ward she has improved in eating and joining in with activities.

Our dear mother was a resident in Maidstone Care Centre from March until her passing at the beginning of June. Mum was treated with the utmost care, devotion and respect by all members of staff. Her care was second to none, nothing was too much trouble. All of the carers and the nursing staff treated
Mum with dignity and went above and beyond to ensure that she was comfortable. All staff spent time with Mum, chatting to her and making her feel valued. My brothers, sister and sister in law and all members of our family were all made to feel extremely welcome, we were also cared for particularly when at the end, during Mum's last days when we were with her continually, we were given extra seating in her room so that we could all be with her and we were asked how we were and if anything could be done to help us in that really difficult and emotional time. As a family, we would like to express our genuine gratitude and thanks to all who looked after Mum and us during the last months. Thank you.

My wife has been a resident at Maidstone Care Centre since 13/12/18 and we, that is her son and granddaughter, have been satisfied with the care and attention given. Being 95% blind, dementia and poor mobility, the carers are very considerate and caring, she is 92 and 6 months old. We have been married
for 74+ years.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.403)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.403) out of 10 for Maidstone Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.403 for Maidstone Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (294 Excellents x 5) + (139 Goods x 4) + (38 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 494 Ratings = 4.403
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Maidstone Care Centre is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
