My dad became a resident in December 2019. The decision of Dad having to go to a nursing home was not an easy one but I needn't have worried as he was made very welcome and throughout his stay, nothing was ever too much trouble. Good choice of food and drink, entertainment and activities were also available and the building was spotless. The staff worked very hard to keep his spirits up during the very difficult lockdown period and always encouraged him to eat and take his medications. They were always happy to pass messages on to him from me or arrange for him to be ready for my 'window' visit. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated and he sadly passed away in September 2020 but I was able to be at his side and the care that was given to both myself and him during those last few days was extraordinary. I will never forget the kindness and care that was given to my dad throughout the 9 months that he was there. I would not hesitate to recommend Grace Manor. Thank you everyone!

My mum came to Grace Manor Care Centre a year ago. Within that year she has been looked after to the highest of standards, she is happy and content within the home. I feel my mum is safe and cared for very well. The staff and management are always on hand to reassure not just the family but also my mum. Before my mum came into Grace Manor she never left her room. Within a short period of time, my mum was out of her room and socialising with other residents; she hadn’t done this for many years. Staff also managed to get my mum walking again after she suffered a stroke. As a family we are very happy with the care she receives from all staff members within the home.

My overall experience while staying at Grace Manor has been reasonably favourable. On the whole, staff have been attentive and helpful, whilst also bringing a sense of caring to their tasks. However, the attitude of some night staff has been hard to accept. That said, all senior staff and team leaders have made my stay good.

Staff are always very helpful and happy in their work. We feel very confident that Dad is safe and well looked after. There is plenty of entertainment for the residents, and the whole place always looks so clean and smells lovely. After a visit, we are always happy knowing Dad is in safe hands. We definitely chose the right home for Dad to be cared for and are thankful to all the staff.

Mum has been in Grace Manor for 9 years and approaching her 99th birthday which would not be happening if she hadn't received the excellent care of all the staff at Grace Manor. Everyone has treated her with kindness and dignity and during this difficult time they have kept in regular contact with me to let me know how she is for which I am very grateful. A massive thank you for your dedication.

My mother has been in this home for nearly 2-years. She has thrived due to the outstanding care she has received from all the staff. From the manager to the wonderful care staff to the receptionist to the cleaning staff to the chefs in the kitchen, nothing has been too much trouble for my mother. They have shown true dedication to the care of their residents, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They take the time to phone me via video messaging to allow me to see my mother and to let me know that she is okay during this worrying time, which I greatly appreciate.

Grace Manor is a well-run nursing home with dedicated and caring staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone who needs to put a loved one in care. The staff have particularly shone through this awful pandemic. They have continued caring for residents even though at risk themselves, bearing in mind many hadn't been tested. A huge thank you to Grace Manor.

The carers work long hours which many of us haven't experienced but always have a smile and kind words for residents, the result is a happy home.

My dad has been at Grace Manor for 18months. He has settled well and every time I visit seems to have a good rapport with the carers. You can see he is happy, which makes it easier when you trust your loved ones into the care of others. It’s not always been easy but they have helped us adjust to the situation. The carers are always happy, ready to help and listen. The hardest thing is not being able to see or speak to dad especially during this period of lockdown. It’s not always easy to get through on the phone. Having said that I have on several occasions been sent videos of my dad, just saying hi and of things he’s doing. Which puts a smile on my face. I thank you for that!

My mother was well taken care of; she had dementia and was on end-of-life. We were kept informed of her state of health and any needs. Staff are helpful and cheerful.

My father was admitted to hospital on 30/06/2019, and when it was clear he was terminally ill. He moved to Grace Manor Care Centre on 14/08/2019 and passed away on 19/09/2019.
During the time he was at Grace Manor Care Centre, I cannot find one single aspect of his care that could be criticised. The staff were simply magnificent.

The care and friendship he received in his final days were simply outstanding. It was personal and tailored to his needs both in nursing and mentally (no dementia -fully aware at 90). Some staff represented Grace Manor Care Centre at his funeral and were welcomed back to the family home.

Attended one Sunday and found my husband in his room and was told he would not wake up. When seeing him accompanied by my son, we found him half in and out of the bed ourselves, very uncomfortable. Was told by the nurse that she could not move him but eventually, we managed to get him straight in the bed and were able to get him to drink and take some food. This was at 4pm and he had been there all day. We complained to the manager and he is reviewing it. Things have improved since then but we are still waiting for a report.

Fantastic staff, who genuinely seemed to care a great deal, which personally is the most important factor. Well run with excellent management. Very fortunate that my Grandad was so well looked after at Grace Manor.

Generally, I feel that my dad is cared for well. However, there are occasions when it seems that the staff are reactive to our family's request/concerns rather than being pro-active. For example, if Dad complains of sore mouth/bottom, the staff will check if we say something. I can't believe Dad is not complaining of these issues, only to us. Also, why are these not being seen when staff are attending to his personal care. They see him much more than I do, this is disappointing. Surely staff should be aware of these potential issues and look out for them. As with any organisations, some staff are better than others.

All my life I wanted to care for older adults and make a difference in their life. Becoming a home manager was the ultimate way to do so. However, being a home manager is so much more than looking after older adults and I realised that looking after your staff is paramount to delivering good quality care. Creating an open and honest culture with staff, recognising their achievements and actively engaging, supporting staff and valuing staff is paramount. If you have a happy and content staff team, you have happy residents. I believe a manager should be a great role model who is passionate, hands-on and motivated with a great sense of humour.

Grace Manor Care Centre is our older adult’s home, we are proud of our warm and welcoming environment, and we will always be here for a chat. It is important that both our older residents and their families are included and feel at home. It is always the highlight of my role to see these residents smiling and laughing again.
