Whilst my father's stay at Abbeycrest was quite short, we always found all staff considerate, caring and professional. The facilities were good and the overall feeling is of a homely facility which is being run well and with a high level of care.

The staff at Abbeycrest were exemplary. Their nursing, care, warmth, friendship, facilities, compassion and smiles were priceless. Our family are so grateful that our mother had as comfortable as possible final few weeks. Thank you.

My mother-in-law received respite care as a resident for 3 weeks. Our need was urgent and the Manager was very responsive, understanding and clearly very experienced, making a home visit to assess her requirements on the day following my first visit. A room was made available to her within days.
All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, helping her to settle in. At all times, they were professional and responded quickly to her needs. She was encouraged to participate in the many activities on offer. Residents’ rooms are spacious and all public areas are clean, bright and cheerful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbeycrest Crest Care Home to other families.

My father's dementia made him very challenging to be cared for. The Abbeycrest team of nurses, carers and even catering staff made his last months as comfortable and peaceful as possible. I would recommend this care home very highly.

I cannot fault the care my mother received at Abbeycrest. It feels like something between a five-star resort and a private hospital. It is a very emotional experience to have to place a loved one into care. Abbeycrest made not only my mother but all of the family feel at home and part of a family very
quickly. They went the extra mile and it was a huge comfort to all of us.

My wife developed Alzheimers many years ago but also had mobility issues. When in November 2015, she was no longer support her own weight, we had to find a care home. After research, it was clear that Abbeycrest was the ideal location.
I cannot speak too highly of the facilities but more importantly,
the skill, kindness and caring attitude of the staff.
I shall be eternally grateful to them.

I have nothing but praise for the staff that cared for my husband. His dementia meant he was not always easy to deal with but they were unfailingly caring and cheerful. This pointed to a good manager who employed good people.
In the last week of my husband's life, as a family, we were cared for alongside
my husband.
I had dreaded my husband having to go into a home, but I needn't have worried. I'm very grateful to the staff at Abbeycrest.

I am particularly aware of how caring and gentle the staff are with residents. They respond quickly and carefully to resident's needs and always respect their need for privacy and dignity. The food seems to be excellent and is very nicely presented. There seems to be plenty of activities available.
The window is draughty, so her room can be chilly, but otherwise, the room and facilities are excellent with plenty of space when visiting.

My brother only spent the last 25 days of his life at Abbeycrest and I am therefore unable to comment in depth on all the facilities and amenities available. However during that period, he was treated with great care, compassion and dignity.

My partner was in Abbeycrest for nearly a month. He was very well looked after and the staff were caring and looked after him very well. When he left it was because he felt he would be happier to live at home with a carer. This was for no other reason than he didn't have a like minded person within
the home to talk to.
Reply from Marilyn Kimayong, Home Manager at Abbeycrest Nursing HomeDear Penny, thank you for taking the time to review Abbeycrest, we really appreciate your feedback. Mum has been in Abbeycrest Care Home for just over a year and has been cared for extremely well throughout that time. Of course she would rather be living at home but she could never have the same care and attention if she was! Every member of staff has treated her kindly, respectfully and lovingly
with a great sense of humour as well. As family members we have also appreciated the efforts made to communicate with us and involve us wherever possible. Congratulations on getting "Home of the year 2015"! Very well deserved!

My mum was very unhappy at her previous care home, so as a family we moved her to Abbeycrest. The difference in just a few days was quite amazing. Every single time we visit mum is laughing and happy in her own way. All staff members from management to nursing to catering are brilliant. Our main concern
for mum was that she will be happy wherever she is. We have certainly made the correct choice with Abbeycrest.

My 103 year old friend was a resident at Abbeycrest for the last fifteen months of her life, when she needed the 100% rapport that her previous care home although good could not provide. She was fed, talked to, turned over and no bed sores in way that combined professionalism, care and kindness in the
face of seizures that deprived her of physical and mental capacity. Staffing levels are high and there is a calm atmosphere throughout. It does not have an institutional feel. Everything is bright and light and relatively spacious.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.794)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.794) out of 10 for Abbeycrest Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 55 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 55 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.794 for Abbeycrest Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (513 Excellents x 5) + (108 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 632 Ratings = 4.794
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeycrest Nursing Home is based on 55 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 55 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
