All communication has been excellent, from first enquiry, through to a seamless arrival and settling in plus transition to permanent care. Our 96 year old mother is receiving amazing care at Southerndown, across the board. Always listened to about her food choices, attentive whenever she needs assistance and the management regularly check in with her to ensure she is happy with what's happening. We didn't foresee our Mum going into care and approached this with a fair amount of worry - but we are very glad we decided on Southerndown, and most importantly our Mum has settled in extremely well and is genuinely happy with the care she's receiving. I joined the team as a General Assistant in 2017 before transferring to the care team as a Care Assistant for 3 years, following which I supported the home with maintenance for a short period before joining the kitchen team, where I believe I've found my place. The home and management here have been super supportive and we all work together to ensure the home runs smoothly, it's so important.
My favourite thing about my job is seeing the residents enjoy our food, and the meals we prepare. Seeing empty plates is a reward for me and the kitchen team.
