My wife loved Southerndown Care Home at Chipping Norton. The staff was very good to her and me when I came to visit her three or four times every week. Thank you all so much.

In the time my mum spent in Southerndown, we always found the staff very kind and helpful. Mum always looked clean and tidy, her clothes always matched with buttons done up and underclothes neatly tucked in. She had a clean change of clothes every day. Her bedroom was kept spotless. On the occasions we were there at mealtimes, the food looked appetizing and well presented.

The time our sister was in your care we only had positive cooperation and friendly connection because of the distance we had to travel our visits are few but when e did arrive the welcome was so friendly and warm. Our weekly calls by phone were always answered with a full rundown of our sister was and when the call was concluded we asked them to wish our sister all or love and we have no doubts that the message was passed on with the love we sent.

My father had a short 3-month stay at Southerndown. From his first arrival until his final days, we met and spoke to many of the nurses, carers, housekeeping and office staff – each and every one of them were always warm, friendly, and caring. The staff comforted my father towards the end when the family were unable to visit due to the national lockdown – despite the restrictions the staff were working under they always managed to keep the family informed and facilitated several video calls, which helped the family immensely.

My husband died in Southerndown on May 25th. Due to all the circumstances surrounding the lockdown and the fact for the last 8 weeks we were unable to see him due to the virus, I feel he was well looked after. The staff was excellent and each time he had a "blip" they phoned us - Nothing was too much trouble.

The staff are marvellous - cheerful, professional, efficient, patient, kind and genuinely caring My Mum is happy here. The stimuli are invaluable, with activities and communication keeping her mind active. The environment, bedroom and lounge etc are sweet-smelling, fresh and very clean. My Mum is so lucky to be in such a high-quality home, where the standard is consistently high. Mum says she gets bored but I think that this is inevitable). Thanks to staff - the staff are the key.

I am extremely pleased with the way that I am looked after. You are a smashing lot, patient and kind. The home is clean and my room is lovely. The food is excellent. I especially love the soup. Everything he cooks is great. I joined in with a quiz in the lounge and I really enjoyed it. The lady who did it was good. This is an excellent place to be in.

My father entered Southerndown in May 2019 with dementia, blindness, learning issues and pulmonary fibrosis - so quite a challenge as he could be quite aggressive too. He had been transferred from another care home who were struggling to cope with. They were not able to handle dementia patients. However, my father has settled in very well. My sister and I visit on a regular basis and I can honestly say the staff have been attentive, friendly and very caring. They keep us updated with any medical issues, falls etc. I have no hesitation in recommending Southerndown. It is comforting to know my father is in very safe hands.

My dad was in the care of Southerndown for nearly five years before he passed away on the 29th December 2019. During his time here the care he was given was excellent. The staff treated him like family and his welfare was always paramount. The staff at the care home catered not only to dads needs but also our own in that we knew he was in safe hands whenever we left after visiting. The genuine support and compassion given to my family and I during his final hours was overwhelming and we shall always appreciate that.

The care for my Mum, the resident, has been amazing. From the time she entered the home in late spring, to the day she sadly departed, Mum, Dad and ourselves have been shown nothing but kindness, care and compassion. End of Life care was compassionate and with dignity and preparation for her loved ones really helped. A huge thank you.
